Just put a deposit down on the R a few days ago, should arrive any day now. Super excited. This will be my second motorcycle, after owning a Kawasaki Z400 for 2 years.
My last bike was the street triple R which was a brilliant little bike, in fact the highest compliment I can pay it was that it rivalled the GSX-R750 that it replaced as one of the best bikes I've ever owned (including R1s, 'Blades and every two stroke Yamaha ever made including the RD500L/C) in fact the R probably shaded it because of the comfort factor, so when it came to deciding on a new middleweight naked I demo tested the MT-09, KTM 890R and Monster as well as both Street Triples, it came down to the street triples again but what swung it for me between the R and RS might seem strange to many, it wasn't the Ohlins suspension or the Brembo Stylemas it was the colour, after wishing for years that Triumph would produce a more colourful street triple range, once I seen the cosmic yellow RS I had to have it, it's great to once again to have a bike that puts a smile on your face when you catch sight of it before taking it out.
Totally!! I loved my Gsxs 750, but the street RS is like that but on steroids. Better brakes, suspension, more power and 27kg lighter. Love the colours and if you're not doing anything on track the R would be great and tbh could do both quite easily, but the RS is definitely on the sportier side. Really Loved it. Involvement makes it all the more fun. As I said in thy video, I have my Gsxr1000R, but could be seriously tempted to swap it for one. Thanks for watching 👍😎
@@Lt2AldoRaine The 890R is THE most fun but I couldn't get past its looks and poor finish, the MT-09 is a great bike and I quite like its looks but the RS is so much more premium.
My last bike 30 years ago was a Gixer 750 L, loved that bike at the time, but with such a time gap can’t really remember what the different traits of then and now of the bikes. The tech on bikes now is crazy, biggest thing for me is the state of the roads in the uk are s##t wasn’t that bed years ago… and also speed cameras you’d hardly ever see one 😉
I would bet most folk test ride the RS and not the R, myself included, but only because I ha already bought the RS. The R was designed for road riding, whilst the RS is more track biased with the premium kit. I got an RS for the same price as an R, otherwise it would have been an R for me
Yeah, both great in their own right. In part, I prefer the simplicity of the dash on the R over the RS, do like a bit of bling though so had to be the RS for me and for the colours available and especially for track days but if I wasn’t interested in those, the R is more than good bike. The reason the rev’s keep flashing is because it’s set up in running-in mode, this can be turned off in the main menu. Great review by the way, I picked up mine 3 weeks ago and the flashing done my nut in 😂 had to call my dealer & then found out.
Ah yeah, did wonder if it was pre set to Certain revs or rev limit as being run in but even the Manual doesn't actually say to keep it to a specific rev ceiling. Happy new bike day anyway! They're seriously brilliant bits of kit! Thanks for watching. 😁👍
@@twistandgo3414 Going through the manual is very vague on certain things and running in is one of them, “don’t use more than 3/4 of throttle, don’t let the engine labour, don’t over rev, etc etc) My dealer basically said first 300 miles up to 5k revs, 300-600 miles up to 6k revs. Didn’t mention anything after that 🤦♂️

Totally agree, don’t need the RS if you’re just riding on the road but also the RS does have the slightly more overall premium and sorted feel to it. I’m using mine for track work too so had to be the RS. I love it, what a package it is. thanks for watching! 😃😎👍🏻
I'd be choosing the R as a road bike. It's annoying that Triumph offer cruise control as an optional extra only with the RS. Cruise control available on the more track-focused model but not on the more road-focused model. Where's the logic in that? Go figure!
I didn't actually know that, must be due to the integration with the display I guess, but totally agree! Seems a little backwards, should be able to spec it on either model! Thanks for watching.
I've left it Standard out of the factory for road use... Actually off to Knockhill very very soon so will use the Triumph recommended track settings for that and report back. From the off, can already tell it will be a bit soft on track in standard trim..but hey, that's why adjustable! 😁😎
Not sure, i did ride a KTM 890 duke GP the other week and was seriously impressed by that. The previous MT09 didn’t have the best fuelling and was quite light on the front end, but would like to think that’s been addressed. Sadly, Yamaha are quite a way away from me - almost a 2 hour ride.
@@todddhel yeah, ktm review I haven't edited yet but honesty, Think I would go for the 890 Duke GP over the standard Street R...But not over the RS. Not ridden the 890R but the ktm build quality isn't a patch on the triumph.
Yeah, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I really like the Ktm890 from every angle except the front! The headlight just let's it down for me... Just as well we are spoilt for choice! (And all different) . Thanks for watching and for the comments. 😁👍👌

Yeah totally agree and the dealership are saying there is a push on the R model too so you should get a better deal. Just ridden an 890 Duke GP so there's a video waiting to be edited on that. Spoiler alert.. I think I would have go for that over the street R, but not the RS, but again the fit and finish of the ktm definitely isn't as premium or well rounded as the triumph! But liked the simplicity of the ktm dash. Tough call and the street is arguably better looking. Enjoy your test ride when it comes! I really don't think you'll be disappointed but the RS does feel a bit more premium to the R.. For pure road use only though, The R is still one hell of a package! What made you buy the triumph instead of mt9 or duke 890?

Have you adjusted rear suspension on new Triple or left it alone
