      Blame Triumph for calling it a 2024 when it's only May of '23. Time travellers or something.

    At age 65 I got back into riding. I bought a 2017 Bonneville T-120 Black. My son soon acquired a 2012 Street Triple 675. I rode it for about a half hour. The next week I went out and bought a 2018 Street Triple R 765. Over the last five years I find that I ride the Street 3 or 4 times more than the T-120. When I am in 2nd or 3rd gear and punch it at 8,000 rpm and go to 12,000 rpm; it always makes me smile.
    Now at age 71, I still love both bikes but the Street is my preferred ride.
    Riding the twisties in north Georgia . . . . .

      I've got the striple r 675 2012 and I'm 61 and I love it ❤ I've had all the sports bikes in the last 30 years but the 675 2012 is more than enough for me on the road. I can't justify going to the 765 especially with the poor state of the road surfaces the 675 r is ample

      I'm 76 and have owned a number of naked bikes and a couple supersports as well. Currently I ride a 2015 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR. It's a very fun hooligan, but not very comfortable after 100 mile ride. I'm 95% sure a 765 Street Triple is my next ride. Never rode one but all the reviews point me in that as the best direction. Keep you posted!

    Cruise control is an option, and it changes this bike completely btw, toured 6 hours on it this past memorial day weekend without a single sweat and it handled it like a champ. Also you can get optional heated grips as well as a bluetooth connectivity module to snyc your phone to the TFT and provide GPS. I've ridden mine a bit over 2,000 miles thus far for the year and I've loved every single second of it. And by the way, you do not get full zoot power until you put it into track mode which you have to complete your 600 mile service to access. I can say with confidence that the track moder power band feels like 20% faster than sport mode, it will actually catch you out if you're not careful. This bike LOVES to shoot the front wheel up when you roll on hard in 2nd and 3rd gear, it goes straight to 1 o'clock and holds there with no TC on.

  • @TheRealChetManley

    I have a 22 RS. Its an absolutely brilliant bike. It does it all. I can ride all day. It slays the twisties. It’s faster than I need. I love it. Wish it had cruise control though.
    Cruise control is an option for the ‘23 model. You didn’t mention that in the video.

  • @joebloggs2635
    @joebloggs2635 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    You need to get it on a track or in the twisties. That's where these bikes really shine. Nimble, sharp and stable thru corners. Way to much fun, especially in the higher rev range. A small Givi fly screen fixes the wind issue. I've got an R version and it's way more capable than I am. Highly recommend a test ride, especially for someone looking at getting a first bigger bike.

    • @JK-tu1xx
      @JK-tu1xx ปีที่แล้ว

      The bike does not need a windscreen or fly screen, if you have no traffic in front of you it slices through the air no problem.

    • @joebloggs2635
      @joebloggs2635 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting fact: those OEM levers are the same build quality, shape and profile as some VERY fancy and EXPENSIVE bonamici/cnc racing levers. That's because they're brembo levers. My favorite levers in the world. The biggest problem with owning this bike is when you want to upgrade: to top what triumph brings to the table with the 765rs, you've to either go to a daytona 675r, and be stuck with all the problems of a super sport. Or you've to go direct to super naked land: tuono, s1000r, SFV4S and the mighty speed triple 1200rs. This bike is stupidly good. The only problem I ever had with it (and it was a bit one) was the super long tank on the earlier models. It would stretch our my back/shoulders (long legs, short torso here) in a slightly uncomfortable way. Mind you that tank works like a charm with the daytona, but as a street bike, it felt neither here nor there. However, I find myself edging back towards this platform. It's too good, man. Ducatis make a lot of noise and thump their chests, but triumph quietly makes the better bike. And this is class leading, period. The only bike that can trump it is reportedly the 890r and somehow this bike still tends to be better to live with.
    God, triumph, why you do this, man? I want to try some other bikes and engine platforms but this triple is just 😍😍😍😍

    Test rode an "R" model and it was just about the most fun I've ever had on a motorcycle. The sound of the triple is amazing, hands down the slickest shifting I've ever experienced and very linear power as you mentioned. What killed it for me however was on the freeway the bike got really "buzzy" at 70mph.

      go faster, or go slower. 80-100kmh is fine, 150kmh is fine, and if you're hard on it between 80-150 it pulls hard no buzz. but I agree 100-115 sucks

    8 years ago when I started researching bikes, I used to hate the look of this model (mostly the headlights). I've learned to appreciate all bikes since then, but my mind didn't really switch on this model until I sat on one last year. The dealer had one sitting right next to the Nomad 1700 I was there to test ride. I sat on the RS and loved the way it felt. Can't speak for how it rides, but when it comes time for another naked bike to complement my SV, the RS will be the first bike on my list.

    The power difference from the R to the RS comes from the throttle by wire. On the R, after 6000 rpm, the throttle begins to close from 100% down to about 60%. buying an OBDLink and changing the throttle mapping with Tritune gets you the same power.

Street Triple Moto2 version of the Street triple also has Öhlins front suspension and other features the RS does not have.. Of course a 10 second trip to Triumphs webpage would tell you all about this if you are interested in more.

    Sounds a lot like my 2021 MT-09...
    The looks of this bike, this thing is freaking beautiful!
    If I were thinking about trading my standard MT-09 for the SP version, I would probably just go for one of these bikes.

      Yeah and It is actually kind of a big difference up to the moto2 version that has Öhlins front suspension that the RS does not have and also different rider position with clip-ons and such. Probably a lot more that the Moto2 version of street triple has =)

    I changed my 2020 RS for the new RS (in cosmic yellow), it's hard to believe Triumph were able to raise the bar over what was already a great bike but the handling's sharper and still planted and the shorter gearing has made low and mid range acceleration much peppier, the only slight fault IMO is the TFT which is very cluttered and not as good as the original 2017 TFT but that's a minor gripe as overall it's a superb bike and IMO the best bike Triumph have made by a distance.

    I bought this bike a couple of months ago and love it the mirrors vibrating annoys me but it puts a smile on my face so will deal with it. Is America different here in UK you can get a taller windscreen doesn't really do much unless you tuck in you can also get cruise control added extra sadly also the light switch is missing on the left control cluster 😂

    😅 Your fantastic review has me seriously considering switching from the R model to the RS for my upcoming Autumn purchase. I'm dealing with a bit of a dilemma due to my 72-cm inseam (I'm 5'4" tall). I'm thinking about adjusting the suspension on the R model to better suit my height.

    I was hoping they would integrate the appendage headlights better. It's not terrible and the bike on the whole has a great look like all Triumphs but it's still kind of just hanging out there. That yellow is really sharp though.

    This model looks fantastic and i almost bought the red one, but at 15+ grand out the door i couldnt justify it when the XSR900 is feature packed for 10 grand. I got quotes for the cruise control, heated grips, plus the little front fairing and that bumps the price even further away from reasonable.. i may grab one in 2-3 years but buying brand new isnt worth it to me

    Could one do an occasional 400 mile trek w this? Say 1-2x per year, would it be comfortable? Would wind be an issue on the highway?
