    Indian film makers (most of them who live in a bubble and propagate Nepotism and probably look hindi with disdain), please look at this guy. He knows more about India (market), its people, what we like and don't like more than you do. His observations regarding subtitles, our downloading culture is so on point.
    He researched what we like to watch, and is willing to give us what we'd like rather than shoving his zero IQ ideas down our throat and believing he is right! (this jibe was specifically aimed at television)

    • @mishthi2115
      @mishthi2115 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to break your bubble but remember it was Indian audiences only who gave those earnings to a film like race 3 that's why film makers are encouraged to make these crap kinds of formula films...Indian filmmakers do know what Indians want and by Indians i not only mean the ones who are behind computers or choose to watch Netflix ...still there are many who don't have access to Internet or don't watch Netflix....problem is the netflix people me included in it want to watch moviesof the kinds that are shown in MAMI...but don't get much screen space due to other masala crap that many people still are watching....so it's actually the audiences that needs to be blamed largely not the producers they are also business man and need to earn profit

    • @personal_playlist9466
      @personal_playlist9466 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Sharmishtha Gupta I look at it the other way.
      1. Good stories are always appreciated, sooner or later. It is very easy to sell formula films because they require little effort and it is very tough to make original and good content. Indian film makers and TV producers fall into this lazy category. Movies like Taare Zameen Par, Rang de Basanti, Vicky Donor, etc. have all done more than well.
      2. There is an audience for everybody. There are people who don't value cinema as much as they worship Salman Khan. Selling them good stories is pointless. However, to assume and believe that all Indian audience likes this trashy content is a huge mistake.
      Netflix found a huge consumer base because we are hungry for good content and there is lack of it in cinema and television. Indians are mad about GOT, Breaking Bad and Shawshank Redemption.
      There more people who trolled Race 3 than who watched it.
      This whole rhetoric of "but the bad movies sell better is deeply flawed".
      Good movies have done more business than bad movies, and there are records to prove it.
      Regarding TV, when Zindagi channel aired Pakistani and Turkish dramas (their best ones, story-wise), they became hugely popular. Before the Ekta Kapoor phenomenon, good serials were being made and appreciated. It all depends upon the producers really. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai has the biggest fan following, but its producers decided to stop airing it. In some cases, good series haven't been marketed well.
      I can go on and on, but I hope you see my point. Thanks.

      @@personal_playlist9466 I hope you see my point I myself am really really always frustrated as an art lover to see crap selling but problem is we do have rural uneducated India too...they also watch movies and they form a big part of audience...that's why these movies sell...I love good content and thank God online revolution is happening that's a breath of fresh air...but we can't shy away from reality I do believe content is the king and wish what u are saying will happen on a big scale in future but in present day we just can't blame all the film makers making these masala movies...they are businessman mainly who make masala films and they are not concerned with art and so called stars like Salman back them to earn money and ultimately produce absolutely rubbish which also unfortunately is seen by audiences and make money for these producers and so why would they do anything else...but movies like Newton, Shahid, raazi, tumbad, lipstick under my burkha etc they are also pure art about which only movie lovers know more other who only see films as medium of entertainment don't take the pain to learn about such movies or go out of the way to watch them otherwise they will also earn more ..for example in my city I only could get 8 pm shows for death in a gunj because it had no other show early I went to watch the movie although it was a little inconvenient timing for me but not many people do that

    • @personal_playlist9466
      @personal_playlist9466 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sharmishtha Gupta I agree with you as well, this is a worldwide phenomena. Not undermining Marvel's credibility, but "big movies" have always done better at the box office. The movies you mentioned were made on a low budget, marketed less (for eg, Varun or Salman appear on every channel, every show, every mall for promotions) and get less distributors. I'm so glad things are changing, because 2017 saw big movies flopping, and 2018 we saw some great work bringing people to theatres! Race 3 is an exception, but otherwise this year has been great for cinema lovers like us, for whom content is the king. With Netflix, Amazon Prime, good movies faring well, better film makers will find courage to write more, do more.
      Regarding the uneducated masses, there's a huge divide within Indians itself. There'll be all kinds of film makers because there is enough audience for everyone, hope these Bollywood folks realise that. People like us would never go and watch Salman, and his fans obviously won't understand art like we do.
      This year, I've watched all the wonderful movies in theatre, and surprisingly, I'm doing that every week because so many films are coming out. I saw Raazi, Karwaan, Stree, Sui Dhaaga, Andhadhun, Badhai Ho and October. They almost came back to back, and I'm sure they were all in profits, some by a huge margin too.
      I'm loving this little debate of ours and for a change on youtube there are 2 people who are not bringing the other person down with abuses!

But around the same amount Netflix brings (great) world-wide content to your convenience. I think Netflix being too expensive is a narrative being spread by the incumbents for their own gain.
