Sriram Raghavan- Brilliant.
Amar Kaushik- superb. Really surprised me with Stree. Wonderful concept and direction and seems like a humble man.
Amit Sharma- Great director. Well deserved.
Meghna Gulzar- Simply wonderful. Great to listen to.
Konkona- Directed just one film. Could have been swapped with Anubhav Sinha or Shoojit Sircar maybe. But, it’s important to encourage new talent.
Siddharth Anand- Why the hell is he even here ? Radiates arrogance like anything. Directed Salam namaste, bang bang, war. Need I say more 🙄
Konkana's film was brilliant for a debutant director.
Brilliant for any director
Siddharth is the most commercially successful director out of all of them. See his filmography on boxofficeindia and you'll see he has not made a single flop film. Yes he makes masala movies which you don't like but that doesn't mean masala film directors shouldn't be invited.
I loved the way he talked here. Zero diplomacy and very frank answers.
First of all, most, if not all, YRF directors are not "film maker"..... Aditya Chopra is behind all the creative decisions....the director is just to manage day to day tasks. So if u see a director who hasn't moved out of yrf, well his capabilities are doubtful. For instance, Kabir Khan. He is good, made Bajrangi Bhaijaan, one of Salman Khan's good film, outside YRF. Now look at this Siddharth Anand, all movies under YRF and all shit movies. I recently watched War & was surprised since its fairly good movie. I wasn't expecting this. But then I saw this : Screenplay : SHRIDHAR RAGHAVAN.

Highest grossing movies are indirectly proportional to the intelligence that this stage commands!
If you release a movie in 4000 theaters or more on a long weekend with that ticket price, it is bound to make money, but that in no way means he is deserving to be in this esteemed panel or that his movies are anywhere close to a good cinema!

Now coming to your comment that Siddharth Anand film is not good cinema is your opinion. And India is not only you. It's millions of people who watches a movie. So a not good cinema for you might well be a very good cinema for others. So how to maintain such diversity in a panel? That's why we have directors from different types of cinema here. Art & niche director like konkona, critically acclaimed directors like Meghna & Sriram and then commercial directors like Siddharth & Amar.

Dear MAMI, and the chairperson and the interviewers... U have a plethora of talented directors here. Just one suggestion.. You do your homework properly. You could have looked into Oscar conversations of directors and actors or even French Film Festival. They are so good. Questions don't matter... Flow of conversation with so much insight. Thank you

Follow him on twitter or instagram and message him. Anything is possible. Also he is looking for good scripts. So if you have a good story, do all that you can to pitch it to him. Persistence always pays off.

Why not? You need diversity in every panel. He is one of the best when it comes to mainstream masala movies. A film festival is about all kinds of films and filmmakers not only about niche films and filmmakers.
If it comes to technical ability of a director, Anand is up there with the best.

Instead of Siddharth Anand they should have brought Anubhav Sinha ( he was busy shooting) it would have been more engaging and about the leaks, there were much better leaks in past than seeing Hrithik and tiger dance getting leaked.
