    Its been hard to find good working rgb to component transcoders and my goto transcoder the Audio Authority 9A60 has been giving me problems so decided to try one of these transcoders from aliexpress and very happy with the results. Best part is they are ~$20.

    That was hilarious at times, i had a good laugh. Thanks :)
    I went straight on and bought one of these, i use RGB on a big CRT projector for almost everything except rotated shooters, which i use a big Panasonic Tau Giga rear projection CRT that i lay on it's side. This will save me having to add the VGA input back into that set (was available in Europe apparently, but not here)
    It sure looks to me like it will easily be good enough for the job on a rear projection CRT, and for the sake of $33 Australian Dollars if it isn't, it's next to no money spent these days.

    Dude! Thanks so much, I have been pulling my hair in search for a decent YbPbR converter, I have an old DDR3 PC that I wanted to convert into a Emulator Station, but just like you I couldn't find a proper converter to 240p, every converter was always 480i, now this little awesome gadget will do the work to get that glorious 240p signal output for my retrogaming needs, I still conserve a Sony Triniton TV that used to be of my parents, this will bring so much joy, heck maybe I'll hunt for a Panasonic Tau or a LG Flatron TV on Facebook marketplace, since I feel Shadow Mask is better for any console from the SNES gen and below, and leave the aperture grill for Arcades, PSOne to Dreamcast, XBOX, PS2, GameCube and Wii.

    Highly recommend putting a straight zip tie between the side square holes of the SCART connector directly back to the Component outs where there are also holes in between the RCA jacks. Makes it so that when you pull the scart connector out that it is braced by the component connectors on the opposite side which transfer the pulling force to the top acrylic. Kind of hard to describe, but you essentially have the head of the zip tie at the component side with a short section of cut zip tie to hold it there and that looks like a "T". Then you just cut the head off of another zip tie and pull the tie tight going from the scart back to the component to secure and do that on each side.

      Are you using this for RGB scart to component? I mostly play via PC emulators or mister, but if I could hook my older consoles up via composite for cheap then I'd like to at least get them hooked up that way.

    That transcoder is awesome in terms of quality vs. price 👍. It's excellent for those who can afford an old PC with Radeon 4000+/5000+/6000 and calamity radeon drivers with Windows 10 or use a Linux distro with a Nvidia Chipset Motherboard or a normal Motherboard with a Nvidia 8400GS PCI-Ex card (you can also use Nvidia 200+/300+/400+/500+/600+ cards but for that you would need "extra wide resolutions" to achieve minimum pixel clock to emit in 15Khz, like 512x224 instead of 256x224) 😉.
    I would love this gets worldwide spread so many retro gamers can play their arcade and 15KHz progressive scan console games like it was the original *plus* with a *crispy* image through Y/Pb/Pr (YUV) 🙂.

    • @LameGaming
      @LameGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a passive device whatever frequency you put in is what you get out.
      Im pretty sure the dc vga port is strictly for 480p output, so no ... It wont downscale it to 480i or 240p.
      Now if the vga port can be set to output 480i or if you connect the transcoder through the av port of the dc at 480i then yes it would output a signal for a sd crt.

    Greetings my friend! I wanted to tell you that I was going to buy the retrotink rgb to comp but when I saw this video a few months ago I decided to go for this cheaper transcorder since you gave it a very good review and apparently it worked well for you. I built a pc to be able to emulate with calamity drivers but I got to know RGBUNTU and decided to use this system for crt emulation. It turns out that since I started testing the system, the transcorder adds a kind of noise to my image, specifically, they are horizontal lines that move like a cup of soda (very similar to when recording at 30 fps on a CRT screen) I thought that It could be the cable, so I bought a 5x5 retrovision hd cable and it gives me the same interference, I tried 3 different crts and the problem continues: c. I bought it from the same link you left in the description. could it be the transcorder the problem? I have not seen anyone else with this interference or in comments on aliexpress, or in comments from reviews on youtube.

      @@LameGaming Thank you very much for taking the time to read my comment friend. I saw your video about 3 times yesterday to analyze your setup and see differences with mine, it turns out that I always gave power to the transcorder through the usb that comes and connected it to a usb port of my 15khz pc and tried in different ports and always the same interference, until I saw that you connect it directly to the current with a samsung cell phone charger that is seen in the video. I tried doing that and I felt very stupid: c since it was solved in 80%! It is a very big advance since I spent a long time without understanding what it was due to, I thought they were the video cables. Even so, I couldn't find a cell phone charger like the Samsung you have. I tried with a usb port of my ps2 slim to see if it worked and there it looks 97% better, almost perfect. I will also check the solder joints as you mentioned but apparently the problems were the USB ports of my PC. Could you tell me the specifications of your Samsung charger? I have a 5V - 3A one and it doesn't look perfect, I tried another generic one I found and it's 5V - 0.85 A and that one looks a little better. I don't know if it would have to be 5V - 2A to make it look perfect.

      Whatever frequency you put in this device is what comes out, it just changes the colorspace. It does no conversion or upscaling

    i'm mostly interested in lag / latency: is there any? also in aliexpress, it says it only supports 480i and above. But the sega master system is 256x192 pixels (NTSC), so would it work? thanks!

    • @LameGaming
      @LameGaming  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Transcoders will not introduce any lag, they are just changing the colorspace. They handle 240p just fine.
      If your sending rgb out from the master system into the transcoder I assume it should work.

      @@joelalainI know this is an old comment but just to clarify none of these things will ever admit they accept 240p because 240p isn't an actual resolution, it's just 480i with some trickery. So as long as the device you buy isn't doing image processing and is just transcoding or amplifying a given input signal it should not matter if it specified 240p support since if it has the bandwidth to take 480i it will take 240p fine. Just noting this since a lot of receivers/matrix switchers will also not show 240p in a list of supported resolutions and it tripped me up for a bit.

    Hey man, do you know if this would work to plug my PC into a CRT TV? I'm planning to use a DVI-I to VGA adapter into this device. Thanks.

    • @LameGaming
      @LameGaming  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would work but first you need to get your PC outputting 15kHz. You need an amd card like the r9 380x or older...one that still outputs analog, then you need to to install a custom video driver made by calamity called crt-emudriver. The pc will then output 240p rgb which you can use one of these transcoders to convert the signal to 240p ypbpr (component)
      Theres easier ways to do this with a downscaler but they will have varying amounts of lag

    • @LameGaming

      It just transcodes whatever signal you feed it, If you put 480i in it will output 480i, 240p in- 240p out, 480p in- 480p out. If you want to output from computer to a crt then you need a crt that handles 480p or use crt-emudriver like in this video th-cam.com/video/Xp4sQlvCawo/w-d-xo.html

    Hi!
    I have a French Atari 7800 with RGB SCART output.
    The picture flickers on my LCD TV.
    The image is correct only on TVs with an RGB SCART input that I tested.
    I'm thinking of buying this converter, connecting the Atari 7800 RGB SCART and having the converter give me a YpBPR signal, since my LCD TV has a YpBPR input.
    Is my reasoning wrong?
    I believe with this converter I will never see a flickering image again.

    • @LameGaming
      @LameGaming  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not sure if that 7800 is ntsc or pal, the converter will only change the colorspace, it wont change the frequency or upscale the image. I would think an upscaler would be better for an lcd but this device is cheap so you could try

      I dont think this transcoder can take in 480p and put out 480i. The DC vga is 480p only so the transcoder would put out 480p ypbpr which a standard def crt cannot accept.
      If you can output 480i rgb from the DC av port then you would just need a DC scart cable and it should be good to go with this transcoder. I have only used my DC with vga to a pc crt so I havnt tested anything from the av port
