Big Ram-Fat Tail-Long Locks-Chill Shear

  • This guy is a Karakul sheep. They grow hair type locks over dense wool and store massive amounts of fat in their tails. These sheep are derived from the deserts of Central Asia and can be powerhouses under all that fiber. At the start, his feet brace
perfectly against my maneuver. His neck is strong and designed to withstand force from a full sprint head on collision from a dude just his size. He’s stubborn, but certainly not hurt. You can see him use that strong neck on the last side as I fight him to make him more comfortable. Thankfully, this guy didn’t mind a fresh cut or he’d have launched me across the pasture and taken off with what fleece he wanted left on 🤘🏻

No gym workouts needed for you. You showed him who was in charge, in a gentle, but firm way. I can only imagine the way he could have behaved if you hadn’t. It’s amazing and so are you!

yeah dude. it's wild how they're a little uncomfortable at first but as soon as katie has them on their bums, they're fine all of a sudden. reminds me of how my dog hates putting her harness on. but as soon as we are outside she forgets all about it and she's fine.

That was really interesting! Normally the sheep look like they're cozy sacks of potatoes being flipped about, but this dude definitely showed that it's your skillful handling that gives that impression - not necessarily the beasts themselves. That boyo was definitely making you work for it, but man did he look great afterwards!

You make a great point in your writing about this ram that he is a fierce warrior who can headbutt another creature into eternity...or at least out of his current chosen space. This realization really puts a lot into perspective about all you do, while spotlighting the strength and know-how you must demonstrate--to us on this side of the camera but most importantly to the animal being sheered. Sheep-Whisperer! Indeed! We see it, totally!

This is my Karakul ram, Rojo. Katy and Darian have been shearing for me for a few years now. Rojo missed the fall shearing that's why he's so shaggy :-) Karakuls are one of the most ancient breed of sheep, and as you can see a fat tail sheep (tails are never docked) Not sure if it will let me share or not, but this is Katy shearing Rojo's son, Monk. Monk is a monster ram, and drop dead gorgeous. th-cam.com/video/UtgUJxZ4vPg/w-d-xo.html

They are probably the breed of sheep that St. Paul used to make tents. Yes, St. Paul was a tent maker; that was his profession. 👍 The Old Testament Israelites’ tents were probably made of Karakul wool, too.

I cant imagine the physical endurance you have to have to do this job all day. Especially working bent over and holding a sheep etc. Much respect.

This ram is a big boy! That tail is really big wow! I would have wanted to dock that tail higher if I knew that breed grows a really large tail even when it’s been docked.

I am no judge of wool! But that sure looks like that would make an incredibly warm blanket or coat!

They're called fat-tailed sheep and some people eat the tails as a delicacy! I recommend looking up pictures, some of them are really funny looking
