I taught my son to tie his shool tie with this rhyme,
OVER ONCE, OVER AGAIN, UP THROUGHT THE MIDDLE, AND DOWN THROUGH THE DRAIN. and he got it right every time
Half Windsor is perfect out of the rest & easy.
👔⚘️🍀🌿
I’m gonna be teasing dimples all night in prep for my job interview tomorrow 😮💨
The weirdest way I've seen someone tie a necktie is Brad Pitt in Ocean's 11.
This video was classy, elegant, and a delight to watch. No obnoxious host yelling for me to "Hit that 'Like' and 'Subscribe' button." This video was a breath of fresh air.
Subscribed.
Excellent video - while I’ve been tying these three knots for over 50 years, the little tweaks to obtain the dimple and perfect the knots were really helpful. There’s always something new to learn.
It's all about those little details!
This is probably the single best tie tutorial for these knots on the internet. Absolutely agree with his full windsor across tug (I did not realize how many people don't do that), and the half windsor is perfect.
Probably the best detailed oriented tie knot video I’ve seen. Extremely detailed which I’m very keen of.
Greetings from the USA! Great video for young men who are starting their journey in Mens wear! Love your videos!
‘’Blamed in on James Bond” 😂😂😂 brilliant
Funny thing is, in the Canadian Navy, we were required to wear a double Windsor knot. Keeping in mind that Bond had the rank of Naval Commander.
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing and providing this video on the specific’s of tie knots
A really helpful video, thank you Rampley & Co.
You are welcome!
YES!! The lady has induced me to learn the intricacies in and of tieing a Knot. She's Gracious, Elegant and adds a professional Air of authenticity. I do not know How to, Thank you😊 MJ. in B'dos
VERY QUICK & INFORMATIVE, THANK'Z
Thanks for the comment.
0% time wasted
100% nice and clean
Excellent video. Nice looking jacket as well.
That is a beautiful outfit...the jacket and tie were also nice.
Classy video of yours thank you both. Nice to see polite well mannered y. God bless 🙏
First class tutorial, particularly as it shows how to create the finishing touch dimple. One further tip before putting on a tie; wash your hands with soap and warm water and dry them thoroughly. This removes the natural oils and any dirt from your skin that can soil the tie fabric.
Good advice.
thank you so much... it really helps me...
The half-Windsor is a good compromise between the four-in-hand and the Windsor knot.
Thanks for sharing!
In From Russia with Love, Red Grant wore his red/blue zig zag Royal Engineers tie, tied with a Windsor knot. Bond thought it showed too much vanity, and was often the mark of a cad. Bond did not say traitor.
SUBBED
classy. clean. sophisticated.
Much appreciated!
thanks for the video sir✨
Excellent.
Many thanks!
@@RampleyandCo Health, money and love for you and familys.
The four-in-hand knot is better for lightweight summery fabric suits. The half-windsor almost always hangs lop-sided, whilst the full windsor knot is for a more refined look for fall and winter fabric in men's suits.
Thank you
With that maroon striped tie, and the wide cutaway collar that you're wearing, your four-in-hand knot is just not filling the gap. I'd recommend the prattsburgh knot (aka pratt knot aka shelby knot) to remedy that. It's wider at the top.
thank you.
Loved that Blue and Grey Sports Coat, where can I get one just like it?
nice jacket on the mannequin
I was told over here (US) that the first one is called a single Windsor, and the second one is called a double Windsor.
That's correct. Great job on recognising them!
In England we say half Windsor and Windsor.
I love the knot you have on your person in this video. Which knot is that? Also, what are your thoughts on a double four-in-hand knot?
Hi, Chris has used a Four in Hand knot for his tie in the video. As it's one of our Shantung ties, the heavier fabric gives a good sized knot. We don't tend to use a double Four in Hand, and go for either a standard Four in Hand or a Windsor if we want a larger symmetrical knot. Thanks for the comment!
Half Windsor is the only one I use. Unless it's a knit tie - then I have to opt for the 4-in-hand to stop it looking massive.
We were actually having this discussion in the office a few days ago, and concluded it really comes down to personal preference. Having a larger knot from time to time is not a bad thing for a bit of a change of pace, as long as there is some sort of relative proportion to the size of your collar and lapels. Thanks for the feedback!
The Pratt is the only knot I use.
great! that's it!
Thanks, appreciate the feedback!
Use a lighter shade of tie next time please... the creases and folds are not really visible with such a dark tie
Double Windsor no dimple…The Military taught us this knot…cleaner and tight
Which branch of the military?
I have a pretty fancy wedding to go to this weekend. Any suggestions which would be best? Just one step below Black Tie.
How exciting! For an event just below Black Tie, consider a classy cocktail attire. Traditionally, you'll want to wear a suit in navy or grey, pair it with a white or light-coloured shirt, a darker tie, and dress shoes.
@@RampleyandCo thanks very much!
Nice. I like my ties dimple-less tho.
I wear a Half Windsor; I can only be half trusted.
Perfect and I made this episode 1K✌
Very helpful video! However, it is my personal belief that you should never trust anyone with a cutaway collar.
We'd have to admit we found that quite humorous. We'll pass that onto Chris for next time!
Aferglow....
SAY WHAT!!!!!!..SMILE..PEACE
Very true
@RampleyandCo I love a cutaway collar, but wouldn't wear it with knot he has. Always a full Windsor for a cut away collar like that IMHO
What's the reason for the dimple / flute?
Purely aesthetic. Just like ties.
Wish you could do point-of-view camera angle. It would be much easier to watch and understand
Hey…we have that video too.
What knot did they use on us and british military uniforms in ww2?
Looking at photos I'd say the knot was as simple and tight as possible and that indicates a 4-in-Hand. The Full Windsor would have been too wide.
🤩👌😃👍😍❤️
Your windser slighly differ
why u do this with a dark tie kindly use a light tie flr do this
Only knot you need is the double windsor, nothing else comes close.
You always cross your knot.....make fabric crease
The video should be in mirror video
Perhaps the reason he does not like the Windsor knot is that it is absolutely symmetrical and therefore more boring then the Four-in-Hand.
Yep
Dude, think about mirroring the video. Confusing as hell.
Blame it on my American accent, but I’m trying figure out what he called me (a Windsor knot loving fool) at 2:06. A cat or a traita? I assure you I’m neither.
A cad or a traitor (blame Ian Fleming)
@@chrismodoo6563 Ha! Thank you!
The guy moving too fast for me
When the guy is doing most of the talking and teaching, why is the lady required in this video? Just to get attention of men so that they watch video??
That's not exactly a bad reason, mate.
That’s correct.
But, of course! 😂
Only thing they could do better would be two ladies
Something is wrong with gkh
I am surprised that anyone over 7 or 8 needs tuition in tying a tie. A bow tie, maybe.
Different knots, they only taught one style at school, unless maybe you went to grammar school or boarding school
Why you looking then!? 😂🤦♂️🤷♂️
My goodness .. what school did you go to ? nobody who actually knows from their Father or school how to tie a tie ever 'teased a dimple' !!! It's called a 'flute' .. Def - 'Architectural' an ornamental vertical groove in a column. make flutes or grooves in. "the wood has been fluted to resemble Greek columns" Similar: grooved channelled furrowed ribbed corrugated ridged.
and in my opinion, never suggest what you preference or dislike is as you will surely alienate many watching. Note: a good car salesman always asks what is your prefered colour and then agrees with you as likes and dislikes are subjective.
Thank you for your comment. At Rampley & Co. we don’t shy away from sharing our opinions as we are often asked and encourage an open conversation around the opinions of others. We obviously don't want to alienate but hope to inform (but recognise not everyone will agree!) Whilst we have your attention; we’d love to know, what is your preferred tie knot?
The Yank's like to call that dimple just below the knot....the Wall Street clevage
That's an amusing take on tie fashion!
