Red-pill has been co-opted by a very sexist, pornography philosophy movement. I still like the metaphor but you may want to specify *medical* or *health* red-pilled ❤️ the real red pill is truth and love (care for fellow human beings)~ and that’s what you’re sharing health-wise!

My daughter has a brain tumour, had surgery and radiation therapy now the tumour is starting to grow again. She is taking Epilim for seizures. She has started Chinese medicine with acupuncture and a vegetarian diet as she wants to avoid the chemo tablets being offered by her Oncologist. Unfortunately she's stuck with the Epilim much against her will. What are her options going foward?

This is one thing specifically which bugged me I worked for the NHS mental health teams, where clients usually have poor physical outcomes as a result of psychological problems. No focus whatsoever on nutrition, and when it was it was so mediocre no wonder noone really did anything serious.
We need nutritionist in every team to support individuals to empower them to know what it means to be healthy and feel good through food which you have to consume every day.
Furthermore, the food they serve to patients in hospitals is appalling how anyone is meant to get better eating that crap I have no idea!

Dr Dhand, I would LOVE to see your thoughts on intermittent fasting. Hubby and I were both struggling with our weight steadily creeping up despite a healthy and good diet. We still eat the same foods but now only 2 meals in an 8 hour window and we have both lost weight - especially around the abdomen. WOO HOO!!! Honestly, it's like a miracle! It's been easier than I thought - I was expecting to be feral without breakfast, and we do still have tea and coffee during the fast - but it's been very do-able. Not only is it free but it's reduced our food costs too!! So glad you're back!!

Here is my perspective - I have been doing "intermittent fasting" for about 20 years or so. I didn't do it because it was a "thing". I did it because it was becoming clear that I couldn't sustain the number of calories I was eating as I got older, I was gaining weight, and my blood sugar was getting worse. It was hard to accept at first because for the first half of my life I was always underweight, but I was desperate.
As I continue to age I still "fast" but the weight goes up. It is merely a way to cut calories, it will work for a while, but your body will adjust over time. I try to think of my body as an engine that over time gets more and more efficient.

What do you mean by a healthy good diet? There's a lot of disagreement on that. I have been studying it since 2913. They all seem to agree that greens are good! Though not sure about the carnivore diet. If you need weight loss a keto low carb seems to work well. Along with intermittent fasting. For longevity add HIIT and weight lifting. I lowered my Hga1c with keto. I do still miss my toast.

I've been doing keto and intermittent fasting (eating twice in a 6 hour window per day) for nearly a year. I also supplement where necessary. I lost weight in the first 3 months. I'm now pretty stable at around 165lbs. My bodyfat percentage will be around 10-12. Resting pulse in high 50's. I've got loads of energy, sleep soundly and am in excellent health (no illnesses in that time). I exercise 6 days per week (weight training/calisthenics) and average around 18,000 steps per day. I'm male, 58.

Thank you again for bringing up a topic that is long overdue. You are 100 percent correct. You have identified a very serious problem in the west that is not getting any better. Some countries are better than others but in most cases all could see improvement. BP meds are passed out like candy when in most cases a life style change was all that was needed. It took years to get in this condition and it will take longer to correct. Not all doctors are willing to openly discuss this issure and it's great to see you bring it up. You are correct in saying there is no money in lifestyle change. Maybe change has to start in the home and in the schools.

30 years ago your chance of catching cancer was 5,5% now it’s 43% , what’s causing this less people smoke , they say it’s because people live longer but my research finds not many old people die of cancer , there’s something odd going on , after trillions spent on research and treatment 🙄

Same with skin cancer. I've had a doctor tell me it's on the rise and that I should wear sunblock and minimize my exposure to the sun. I asked how skin cancer could be up if people are spending less time outdoors than decades ago. She had no answer. We are wearing more sunblock these days though.

Diabetes used to be a very rare disease and now it's quite common. And now there's all sorts of autoimmune diseases and sever allergies that didn't exist in the past. It's obvious that toxins in our food and environment (and sugar/corn syrup in everything) is causing this.

In 2016 I was enrolled on prediabetic education course by the NHS. It was really good. We got different diets (Mediterranean, keto, low fat, etc advice), exercise routines to follow and checks each month on our hb1c levels. I already had a quite good diet and walked daily but I still learnt a lot. Namely that butter is not your enemy, but low fat artificial so called diet foods are and seed oils.
So I agree the medical care now is not fit for purpose but this one experience showed me that there was at one time not long ago something better.

Nice to hear your voice again. I would be interested in hearing your views on Keto and carnivore studies. As a 62 year old who has been Type I diabetic for 49 years, and always exercise regularly, I’ve found Keto so much easier to keep weight off, and at the same time easier to regulate blood sugars. Fruits with their high fructose content don’t seem a good idea to me for anyone , as years ago we only ate them in the summer, and are now known to help lay down fat. 😀
