I recently moved to America from Nigeria and this is my first world cup in this country, tho I wonder what the celebrations would be like back home, through this world cup I have learned that football (or soccer as Americans foolishly call it) is still football no matter where you watch it and the energy and excitement still pours off the screen.

The icelandic keeper saving Messi's penalty, the old egyptian keeper breaking the record for oldest player at a WC, Kroos' strike in the 95th minute to (briefly) keep Germany's hope alive could all have made it.
Russia beating Spain is probably my favourite moment..

You guys should make a poster off that final image. Maybe a more fleshed out version but it would certainly make for a good poster.
I’am from Croatia and this WC is probably the best sport succes in Croatian history. The group stage was absolutely amazing, we beat everyone . I will always remember the game between Croatia and Argentina. It was 3-0. From that day people in Croatia started to believe that we can actually do something in this WC. After the group stage we were matched against Denmark, really good and compact opponent. We were losing 1-0 in the first minute, but we managed to score 3 minutes later, then we went to extra time, Modric took the penalty in the 115 min but Schmeichel saved it, he was amazing this WC. After the penalty shotout we won 3-2. That was probbly for me the hardest game to watch ever. After the that game we were playing against Russia, they beat Spain and they were the hosts. We knew it will be a tough match. We were losing again 1-0 after 30 min, but we equalised again.Then we went to extra time again, we scored for 2-1 and we just needed to close the game, but they scored for 2-2. Again penalty shotouts. Some more drama but we won again. Then semi-finals, the game against England. They thought Croatia was tired because we played two games with two extra times. We were again 1-0 down after few mins, but we equalised again in the second half, we really outclassed them in the second half. Extra time again. Min. 109 Mario Mandzukic scored the winner for 2-1, it was absolutely amazing. We showed such a great caracter, we were losing three times in three games but we managed to get back and win the game...and now Croatia is in the final of World Cup. Every time I say that I get goosebumps. We are living a dream, we are playing today against France, no matter how it finishes I will be proud and happy on our guys. Small country, big dreams.❤️🇭🇷

And every single team said they felt they were better, I'm just starting to think that its a part of the French strategy, make the opponent feel confident stiffly their attack and breath until you just find and opening and score and then sit back and finish the job with a solid defense..
I'm lost for words.. that's the emotional power of this video.. it's as if I was really there for every game.. well done, well done!
EA sports FIFA should make a 'story of the world cup'-mode based on these stories.

It’s been a fantastic World Cup in terms of drama, excitement, thrilling matches, beautiful goals, unpredictability and great stories. If there’s one thing to take away from it, it is perhaps that too many of the big teams underperformed. It’s fine to have a few underdogs going far, but I would honestly rather watch the best teams in the World play for the Cup than a bunch of lucky surprise-packages. With that being said, I still think it’s been an excellent World Cup with lots of memorable moments, even some that weren’t here like Courtois’ last minute save against Brazil, Shaqiri’s winner against Serbia, Toni Kroos’ last-minute free kick against Sweden, Ronaldo’s free kick against Spain, Irans last-minute miss against Portugal and a few other. Definitely the best World Cup since 2006 in my opinion.

This is a masterpiece. I would've put Mexico's win over Germany somewhere though. We Mexicans weren't expecting anything of them and thought they wouldn't even make it past the group stage, it was certainly a great surprise.
Tbh you forgot probably the most exciting and insane moment: Spain are 1-2 down to morroco. Iran are 0-1 to Portugal. If it stays like this Spain go second and Portugal first. Spain score in the 90 the minute. Just at the same time iran also score in the 90th minute. Iran and Portugal end 1-1. Spain and morroco also draw 2-2. Spain go first . Portugal second. All this happened injury time

Peru's journey would be a honorable mention here. A combination of too much anxiety and some bad luck sealed their fate a bit too early.
- The missed penalty by Cueva by the end on half-time agaist Denmark, in a match that could've gone either way.
- The powerful long-range strike by Aquino that hitted the post against France. They put up a decent fight but it wasn't enough as the team was eliminated that day.
- The consolation prize against Australia, which brought the first peruvian goal in a WC in 36 years and their first victory in 40 years.

Idk about all of you but this World Cup exceeded expectations. Portugal’s come back to tie 3-3 at the end vs Spain, Mexico’s upset over the world champs, Peru’s performance against Denmark that deserved more, Croatia’s surprise win against Argentina, Russia eliminating Spain in pens, Colombia’s amazing performance vs Poland, Belgium vs Brazil nail biter, Croatia ends the “its coming home” from the English, kroos last second free kick, I could go on and on. What did I miss help me out here?

To clarify too there's nothing wrong at all with Ronaldo hurrying Cavani up, just it's like the fella could throw a drink at someone and everyone would praise Ronaldo and say the person was thirsty. It's ridiculous imo.
