Hi Robbie, scarified late September 2020, but wasn’t great, overseeded and top dressed. Grass took well but very mossy now. Would you cut high, scarify again then feed, or Overseed again? Cheers.
Robbie - thanks for all the videos, which I find very useful. Following your tips as closely as I can, I'm just about to completely re-seed a failed lawn that I've heavily scarified and successfully de-mossed. Two questions for you: (1) Should I re-seed and then edge only when the lawn has grown, or would you typically cut your edge first to better define the lawn area and then re-seed? (2) How far in from the shadow line of surrounding tall rhododendrons should I ideally cut my edge to ensure the grass will grow (I'm using a shade friendly grass seed mix)? Many thanks James
Can't wait for next video. ....I've just purchased an acto royale for my front lawn .....have been following your videos and carried a renovation last season following your advice and my lawn looks 100 times better already.......got first mow in yesterday with the rotary so bit of iron and emerald fertiliser going on soon to give it a boost
Great video, many thanks. I have recently been working on the lawn adjacent to my driveway. The drive is curved and sweeping in parts. How do I create a consistent even crisp cut on the curves. The existing lawn edge is very irregular therefore I cannot reference off the existing curve. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Robbie, im looking to purchase a leaf blower - petrol or battery - i have a reasonable size garden plus a lot of trees. and i am about to commence a large scarify job that will need blowing up ! what machine do you recommend? it wont get really heavy use like you give but i want a powerful machine!
We use a husqvarna 580, it's one of the most powerful blowers out there and a milwaukee M18FBL battery blower for the smaller stuff. We have used the small blower for small renovations before and it worked well.
At the end of this video you mentioned a video about a "sickly and yellowish lawn" and how to fix it. Im wondering if you have made this video and if so, where can i find it? Cheers Robbie 👍
Hi Robbie. Quick question for you. I have just cut the grass for the first time last week. I bought some mo-bacter for treating moss. Would you spread it now or wait till April to use it? Appreciate your thoughts. I'm in Ireland too.
Hi Robbie, great video as usual 👍 just wanna ask you a quick question about my front garden and yes I live in N. Ireland.. my grass is a bit patchy in places, and there is a big hole in the middle where there was a bush, but it was removed.. and I had a patio and pavement put down few months back, and the guys put all the rubble etc on my grass in front garden.. can you give me few times on how to rectify my lawn, please and thank you 👍
By the sounds of it it's dead where the rubble was? This video is all about how to fix small areas th-cam.com/video/6ulUI4LV3jI/w-d-xo.html You could try that first. If it's a larger area then your going to have to turn the soil over and re seed or turf
@@Premier_lawns_official - cheers for the reply Robbie. I'm gonna try some top soil and seeds, can you recommend which top soil and seeds I should go for? And should I aregate my lawn prior to using top soil and seeding? Or when is the best time to do that aregation? Cheers..

I’m going to attempt a first lawn renovation this year (with your help thank you!) and I’m planning on investing in a cylinder mower myself. Please can you explain in your video your remarks about it being a greens mower having 11 blades necessitating you cut lower. I understand more blades = better, closer cuts per inch/foot/cm which then means one CAN cut lower (and have a better more uniform finish at low heights), but is the converse true i.e. You CAN'T cut longer ??? I suspect (but please expand upon the technicalities) that having an 11 bladed reel mower is somewhat overkill if you are cutting at say 25mm..... one would not notice/reap the benefits, whereas to have a high quality finish at heights say below 15mm a 6 bladed machine might begin to show a wavy, undulating, washboarding effect on a short bowling green or putting type surface, where as the 11 bladed machine is the tool for that task. (Sorry I don't intend to be pedantic). I am really looking forward to seeing you take some of those lawns down to 10mm. It's a lovely looking machine. Hope to locate a groomer for it soon.
Hi Graeme Good question. The john deere is a professional level machine that's designed to cut between around 5mm to 12mm or there abouts. The newer versions of it will go down to 2mm which is a crazy height to be cutting grass at. Think of it as a racing bike, it's designed to go fast and isn't that great going slow. It's just how it is geared. In the same respect the extra blades are there to provide a finer cut, the lower you go the more stress is put on the grass and having the extra blades gives a finer cut with less stress on the grass. But it is geared wrong to give you a good cut at longer lengths, and that's when those extra blades start working against you. Hopefully that helps explain it.

Plastic tends to break. Sleepers make the best edge
