How to Knit a Diagonal Garter Stitch Baby Blanket | Rectangle or Square

- This blanket has to be one of my ultimate easy-knits. I don't know what it is about blankets knitted diagonally (or on the bias / corner to corner) but they just seem to fly off my needles at a speed that no other project does. I know this is probably just my perception, but it helps massively when you want to knit up the perfect baby gift in record time!

Best, by far, tutorial for this baby blanket! Thank you!
Thank you so much, that’s so kind 🧶😀
This is one of my favorite pattern for dish clothes and blankets. I put a stitch marker on the side I am decreasing. I am such an air head. The stitch marker will help me remember. You do benautiful work. Love watching your videos
It’s such a versatile and easy pattern! I’m obsessed with it! Thank you so much for the lovely comment - happy knitting! 🧶😀
Great idea! Thanks for this tip!
what a great teacher you are- straight forward instructions in bite sized sections. thank yoi
Thank you 🧶😀
Wonderful clear instructions. I love how you knit, seems so quick and neat.
La hice!, me encantó trabajarla!, muchas gracias por su explicación, muy clara y completa
You make such clear and easy-to-follow knitting videos, and I love this variation of your prior diagonal blanket. I made the original diagonal garter stitch blanket in a large size for a newborn-through-toddler blanket for a new grand nephew, and I think I might make this variation in a similar size for his granny (my sister) as part of my physical therapy following shoulder surgery. I am converting from English to Norwegian style knitting to be more ergonomic, and this blanket will give me lots of opportunity to practice. Then I will try to learn Norwegian purling. You make it look so easy! You always have such lovely yarn, too, although it is not always easy to find the same in the USA. Thank you!
Thank you! This yarn is cicibebe batik and I bought it from a lovely small business called good vibes yarn who I’m sure shops to the USA. Happy knitting! 😀🧶
this is perfect! it's so simple and beautiful!! THANK YOU!!
Thank you for this very detailed tutorial. ♥I really appreciated all the additional tips that you provided in this video. 😍
Was searching for this pattern. Duhh, then I remembered dishcloth pattern. 👍👍
Thank you for an easy to follow tutorial, I had made two blankets so far for my grandkids ❤❤
Thats brilliant! Happy Knitting :-)
I’ve made several of the solid blankets. This is a nice variation. Thank you.
Glad you like it! 🥰
Your patterns are always so inspiring. I’ve got lots of DK in my stash so looks like I can make a bit of a dent in it with this blanket. Love your channel and all your patterns and ideas. Thank you! Love & gratitude 💕 Linda
Thank you Linda 😀🧶
I love this pattern and you are excellent at explaining 💖💖💖💖
Thank you! 😊 🧶
This beautiful. I would love to make it for my king size bed.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Hi! I enjoy your videos. This is the perfect blanket for an 11-year-old I'm teaching to knit. I appreciate your work and bought the pattern via Ravelry to give you a bit of support.
Thank you so much 🥰🥰
Thank you so much for the Video! I'll be a first time aunt this year and I'm excited to use this video for their blankie ^w^
Knitted few of these but never this way l ❤ it so great at explanting things ❤
Thanks for this tutorial. I using it to make a scarf since I am trying to use up my yarn stash and I don't have enough of the same yarn for a blanket.
That’s a great idea! I have a c2c scarf pattern as well but this would make a great scarf too! 🧶😀
Thank you so much- absolufe beginner. Started and so far so good. I only have 80cm circular needles so I will just make a small test square (as big as my needles will hold
Sounds great! 😀🧶
👏🏻👏🏻🤩💯🏆🎶😍🎵🥳🎉
Wonderful pattern!
Great tutorial !!
Awesome teacher!!!
Thank you sooooo much!!!
Thank you 😀🧶🥰🥰
Great tutorial. I’ve never seen it done with the four setup rows. It makes a nicer corner, doesn’t it?
Yep! It took a bit of tinkering to get it right but I’m so happy that I made the effort to tweak it
Thank you for the great detailed demo. Would this pattern work on a bulkier yarn eg one that takes a 6mm knitting needles on the label? Would love to use your pattern as I made one that requires counting and took too long to finish the project.
Absolutely! This will work with any weight yarn as long as you use the correct size needle for the yarn 😀
Was concerned that the 4-stitch corners might make blanket look different with the bulkier yarn. Will test first. Much appreciated.
I love c2c- diagional blankets. Do you have any more knitted blankets like this?
I have one other one with a slightly different border 😀

I’ve seen that one before and even tried it. I really like the one with the Y/O border best.
Love your patterns.
Help! I am making my C2C rectangle blanket with K2, yo, knit to end. How do I do the middle section so the holes will be in right place. And will the last section also need to be changed so holes will be in right place? I very much appreciate your help with this. Barbara
Watch the “middle section” part of this video. It explains how to do it
Hi Laurelin, another beautiful blanket and pattern. Please could I ask the name of the yarn you've used for the blanket? Thank you for sharing 😊
Hi! I used CiciBebe batik in the shade 550-33 and I bought it from a lovely small business called Good Vibes Yarn
@@SnufflebeanYarn, thank you Laurelin for answering my question. X
Hello. Is it possible to make this blanket with size 10 mm needles? Im most comfortable using big needles since Im a newbie.. would it make much difference?
Yes it’s absolutely possible 😀 it would just be a really thick cosy blanket
Hi! If I wanted to make a slightly fatter border before the edge definition detail, would I just simply add additional stitches during that portion of the patter?
You can, but you’ll find that your decrease corner curls up excessively because of the extra stitches. I tried to work around it but never managed to sort it so just settled on the slimmer border
Oh yeah. That’s right. You mention that in the video. I have a beautiful rainbow variegated yarn cake that I want to make this blanket with for my daughter ❤️ love your time and effort. Greatly appreciated!!
Do you happen to have a c2c pattern that isnt just garter or seed? It seems us knitter's have such limited c2c options while crocheters have bounty of patterns. Thanks ~
Hi! The trouble with a knitted c2c is that anything other than garter or seed stitch can end up slightly diamond shaped as the stitches are slighter taller than they are wide. I’m trying to come up with something that combines some stockinette and other stitches but it’s taking me some time.
@@SnufflebeanYarn ah that makes sense.
And that's awesome, I definitely, definitely look forward to that. Thank you for everything you do ❤️
It looks amazing! I would love to make this, but my circular needles are only 80cm long, do you think it's possible?
The stitches might bunch a little bit but you should fit a baby sized blanket on those 😀
Thank you so much! I think you meant to write "fit", auto-correct is a nightmare 😅 @@SnufflebeanYarn
Omg 🫣 definitely an autocorrect!!! 🤣
Felt really bad for pointing it out but didn't want you to have that up forever! Thank you for the help, that's really kind. I'm going to start on this blanket straightaway ☺@@SnufflebeanYarn
@user-ci2nv7jf9z I definitely appreciate you pointing it out! It made me laugh - it’s corrected now 😀
How many stitches would you increase too if you wanted your border to be 5 stitches instead of 3
I tried to do this and the corner where you start decreasing was so curled up I didn’t feel like it worked
Can I knit this with a heavier weight yarn?
Yes absolutely! 😀
Needle brand?
I use hiya hiya but it really doesn’t matter, any circular needle will do.
