Made this shawl many times and gave them away as prayer shawls, but was never happy with the way the beginning and end parts looked. Watched your video and LOVE your tutorial much more. The beginning and end of the shawl look so much cleaner! Thank you for sharing!
Not only is this a beautiful shawl, but your video is clearly done, in focus, and due to this, I FINALLY got the kfb stitch. I could get the knit in front, then knit in back, but so many videos by others didn't really show how to finish the stitch, as they were not working the stitch at the end of a row. Thank you! When I get my monthly retirement, I am SO going to buy you a Kofi!! Now, to get a shawl done to mail to daughter for Christmas ❤
@@SnufflebeanYarn It's moving right along. I did change the start to row 2 to a bl purl, makes a pretty bump on the ege. My knit stitch starts are never very pretty. I guess my tension is loose. Can't wait to givt this!!
Thank you for the pattern. I, too, like shawl scarves, but I am looking forward to knitting this asymmetrical one for better fit. I see I knit I have the same knitting style as you. What I naturally chose having learned crochet first.
Thank you for the great instructions! I'm a crocheter who recently decided to learn knitting so I appreciate the concise directions. Can't wait to try this with some light yarn!
Thanks for your very clear and concise instructions, as a new knitter I do appreciate it. Also, maybe you can take a pic of the completed shawl held upright to give a better view of the finished product, that way a newbie like me can be further inspired to try it without fear 😊
This is a lovely asymmetrical scarf pattern. Your tutorial is fascinating as I can see the asymmetry through the process. I feel brave to do this. Thank you very much for sharing. 💖💖
Thank you for a great pattern, I could not visualise how it would work out as I was making this but it is great. I finished on 150 stitches which is a good size for an adult. My go to scarf for Christmas presents this year. ❤
You are clearly an excellent knitting instructor. Lovely shawl with clear, concise, and understandable instructions. Thank you from a new subscriber in Aberdeen, Washington State, U.S.
I love knitting but due to poor short term memory I have been making what I can out of garter stitch squares. This is a project I can actually do and I love making this! Might even make more if I can convince my friends they want one for Christmas 🎁
I would like to see a finished picture of this project. Specifically I would like to see how far down the back it drapes when it is 150cm on the islet edge. Thank you!
Absolutely! This pattern will work for any weight yarn, you will just end up with a lighter airier shawl - perfect for the spring weather we hopefully have on the way 🥰
Do you have: 1. an in depth tutorial on the way you hold your working yarn? Is this what's called continental knitting? 2. the same, but then for left-handed beginners (aka me)? Either way, I want to make this shawl.
Hi! I can only knit right handed so I don’t have a left handed tutorial, but you can use a website called mirror the video and it’ll flip my existing tutorial. I have a tutorial for continental knit stitch here: Continental Knit Stitch for Beginners th-cam.com/video/66vZVhhfspU/w-d-xo.html
How do you know when to cast off. I did cast off and one side was much longer than the other. Ive been knitting all afternoon and still both side arent the same. Can you enlighten me please.
Hi! This is an asymmetrical shawl which means all 3 sides will be a different length. I measured my shawl by the longest edge and stopped when it was 150cm long.
Nope, no decreases! The triangular shape of the shawl is built by the way you work the increases and decreases, and the cast off edge becomes the 3rd side of the triangle :-)
ooh sry ; i would like to see it laid flat so i can really see the shape. Otherwise a perfect pattern for precious yarn and BONUS it would be very interesting made in a self stripping .
I didn't understand how the stitches will gradually increase for the with of the shawl and then decrease again towards the end Maybe I missed something
Every 2 rows you have increased 2 at one end and decreased 1 at the other end which gives an overall effect of asymmetry ( the whole thing leans to the right) whilst getting gradually wider. You increase and decrease on the one row and then just increase at the end of the second row. You just keep doing that until you cast off.
Hi! Row 1 & 3 are identical, the only reason the written pattern is worded differently was to make the written explanation of the cast off work better. Essentially you do repeat rows 1 & 2, but in written form (written after I filmed) it made it more difficult for me to explain the cast off clearly so I tweaked the written pattern. I’m so sorry if it confused you.

Great idea! I’ll take note for any future shawl tutorials I do :)

New to knitting this year and this is a fun project. Do you do you have a picture of the whole shawl spread out or on a person? Thank you.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the super thanks! That’s made my day 🥰
@@SnufflebeanYarn Your colourful yarn thumbnail pulled me in!😅😍
Thank you.
Thank you. I'm assuming I can use 2 needles instead of the circular ones?
You can, but you might struggle with the amount of stitches as the shawl grows.
@SnufflebeanYarn ok thank you.
Looks wonderful. I have different colors in thinner wool. Like a sock wool. Can I use this for the pattern?

@@SnufflebeanYarn Thank you very much!
When do you start decreasing to shape the scarf to a pointy edge to match beginning. Thx
This shawl is an asymmetrical triangle, there is no decreasing. The third side of the triangle is created by the cast off edge 🙂
I would like you show us how the shawl looks on you..
Love your tutorial. I am worlds worst shopper … where may I purchase this yarn? Please!
You’d have to have a google as it depends where in the world you are, it’s cicibebe cake in shade 110
Mam can we use straight needles for this ? It's a lovely ❤one
Straight needles probably won’t be long enough if I’m honest. You could try though and see how you get on?
@@SnufflebeanYarn o
Ok
Mam can i use the same design to make a scarf using straight needles? I mean will i get the same structure n shape ?
You would get the same structure and shape, it’s just the needles might not be long enough
🇧🇷💕🌺 LINDO OBRIGADA 😘
Is there a written pattern for this
Yes, the link in the description is fixed now and should work
Thank you I’ll check it out 👍
I have just went and ordered 2 100g dk balls in a light violet so I can knit this shall lol
Happy Knitting!! 🥰🥰🥰
Oh, my daughter would love the colourway, could you please tell me the brand of your cake please? Thank you so much. 🙏😊
It’s Papatya Cake in 110 Rainbow

What size yarn are you using?
DK (3 weight or light worsted is a similar equivalent)
How do you know when to cast off. I did cast off and one side was much longer than the other. Ive been knitting all afternoon and still both side arent the same. Can you enlighten me please.
Hi! This is an asymmetrical shawl which means all 3 sides will be a different length. I measured my shawl by the longest edge and stopped when it was 150cm long.
Can you please tell me how the other end will look like?
The cast off edge makes the other end
Can you please share the picture of the end side after casting off the stitches
Yes please mam
When you try to get the pattern it's saying page not found
I’ll double check, it was scheduled to publish at the same time but knowing me I’ve made a blooper!
@@SnufflebeanYarn I’ve just clicked it and it works.🥳
How many yards are needed for a child’s size (10 years old)?
It really would depend on the yarn you pick
Where can I get this yarn?
Google is a good place to start - it’s called Papatya Cake and it’s shade 110
what is "double knit" yarn, never heard of that one.
It’s a U.K. term for a weight of yarn, the equivalent is light worsted or 3 weight yarn. 🧶😀
@@SnufflebeanYarn Thank you!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ can you do on a loom
I’m not a loom knitter so I honestly don’t know
How many stitches are there for 150 cm length?
I don’t count stitches so I couldn’t tell you I’m afraid.
Can you tell me Approximately
@suchetatripathi-is6ji going by the reccomended tension of the yarn I used maybe something like 430 stitches?
Thank you 👌👌
👍❤
Am I meant to just keep knitting until I run out of yarn??? Do we not need to decrease ???
Nope, no decreases! The triangular shape of the shawl is built by the way you work the increases and decreases, and the cast off edge becomes the 3rd side of the triangle :-)
How many stitches do I aim for before I start to decrease the stitches 😢
There is no decrease section in this shawl. 🙂
ooh sry ; i would like to see it laid flat so i can really see the shape. Otherwise a perfect pattern for precious yarn and BONUS it would be very interesting made in a self stripping .

I didn't understand how the stitches will gradually increase for the with of the shawl and then decrease again towards the end

There is no decrease in this shawl, the cast off makes one side of the triangle.

@@cherieuk4488 Thank you for this reply! You explain it much better than I did 🙂🧶
The video says to repeat rows 1 and 2 BUT the written pattern says repeat rows 2 and 3. To a new knitter, I hate inconsistencies like this!
Hi!
Row 1 & 3 are identical, the only reason the written pattern is worded differently was to make the written explanation of the cast off work better.
