    For anyone wondering how all these dead villains reproduced; in the books they reveal that the "good guys" used magic to revive all the dead villains just so they could put them on trial and banish them to slum island forever. I feel like if magic was real, that would be against the Geneva Convention.

    • @tsifirakiehl4250
      @tsifirakiehl4250 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @astrowolvez Yes, I have seen the third movie, if that’s what you mean, and honestly, I’m kind of on Audrey’s side even when she goes villain. Ben was her partner, the guy she thought she was going to marry, and he’s been absolutely horrible to her-sure, he was under the influence of a love spell when he confessed his love to Mal, but even after the spell wore off, he never apologized to Audrey or even spoke to her at all. He just completely ignored her for almost a year, and when she finally confronted him in the third movie, he acted like SHE should be apologizing to HIM. To make matters worse, literally everyone else is taking Ben’s side. Jane, who in the first movie seemed to be Audrey’s only real friend, wouldn’t even invite her to her birthday party. Audrey’s own grandmother was berating her and calling her a failure for all of this, despite none of it being in any way her fault. Add to that the fact that she’s been raised in a rigid, binary system where everyone is either a hero or a villain with no room for shades of gray, and it becomes clear why she’s made the choice she did. Everyone is treating her like a villain for things beyond her control, so she may as well give them a real villain and get some revenge on everyone who’s hurt her. Plus, the person we’re actually supposed to root for, Mal, is constantly acting selfish to the point of being sociopathic, so rooting for the person opposing her is sounding like an increasingly good idea.

Even when Ben realizes what she's done, he just kinda laughs it off and goes, "D'aaw, it's okay, Mal! Happens to the best of us! 🥰" Like bro you are WAY too chill about this girl putting a mysterious liquid into your food to get you to fall in "love" with her. ✋🏾😭 But when Uma does the same thing in Descendants 2 (albiet via a spell instead of a potion), suddenly it's wrong to bewitch someone to force them to be in love with you?? The idea of a show where the main characters are the children of famous fairytale villains and heroes and go to school is also stolen, prior to Descendants there was an animated show called Ever After High, similar premise but less dystopian, essentially summarized it's a school for the children of people in famous fairytales to learn how to fulfill their destinies and follow in the path of their parents, suffice it to say some of the kids didn't like the fortune they were assigned so they chose to not follow that path.

Like not only are the kids being punished for being the children of villains( a thing they can’t control) they live in abject poverty and their entire lives and are told by the ruling class that they deserve it just because. Also why in the name of all that makes sense would Bell and Beast leave their kingdom to be ruled by an immature 16 year old boy? I know the actor was like 20 something in real life but still. He’s a child. He knows nothing about anything. Much less politics. Ideally Mel making him fall in love with her could have been used by the villains so they could rule but from a distance as long as they could manipulate this child who has been giving this tremendous power with an underdeveloped frontal cortex.

    My biggest grip has to be making the Beast and Ben completely human instead of having animal tendencies due to the curse. Disney got the budget and would make Ben a lot more interesting character design and arc.

    it always felt stupid that Mal had no repercussions for anything, especially drugging her boyfriend to get him to love her, I also hated how unapologetically plastic the prince's crown looked 💀

    The fact that the good guys have bratty kids makes no sense. Like Chad is supposed to come out of Cinderella's gene pool? She would've raised him to be the most kind person. Instead of a jerk make him into the pet guy. Like he's way to involed with his rats and Evie is terrified but he's too dumb to realize he's freaking her out

    All I can think about while hearing Nick review this is Twisted Wonderland 😭 it’s a Japanese Disney series really similar (the creator took inspiration from Descendants) but it’s anime boys in magic school and the houses/characters are based on the villains rather than them being descended from them. I like to think Nick’s quips are applicable to that too lol. But I remember being interested in the potential Descendants had but once I read the book it left a weird taste in my mouth so I never rlly revisited it past the first movie and part of the first book. Which is to say it’s nice to see Nick review smth I loved so much!! 💕

    So I never watched these movies but did they ever acknowledge that technically the evil queens daughter is snow whites step sister,.like by law. Or was snow white not important enough.

    Descendants is (in my opinion) capitalizing off of the "Ever After High" doll line. Which in turn was capitalizing off of the "Monster High" doll craze.

    Something that I just realized is that Descendants has a major plot hole: Maleficent is killed by Prince Phillip in the OG Disney's Sleeping Beauty. They never explained how she survived nor how she met Mal's father. Also, you'd think someone as cunning as Maleficent would name her daughter something more clever instead of just Mal Eficent -.-
    Ursula was ALSO killed and she gets to have a daughter too.
