I must just be crazy then lol I always swore that if I ONLY had a thermal stone, it depleted very quickly, but if I wore a hat with it, it took a lot longer for it to go down
Clothes don’t warm you up, they slow down how fast you lost temperature . This is powerful combination with a beefalo hat and thermal stone, making you able to survive a full day of winter without having to warm back up once. But using just a thermal stone is still optional.
@@creepergamer-hi9zr no, insulated clothes don't slow down the rate at which your thermal stone uses temperature, aka pick just one because both together are useless
Honestly just use both, and don't worry about durability.. you're gonna feed one to ant lion, and you can sew them back together. But if you have stone fruit bushes stone shouldn't be an issue!
So, if I understood it well enough: use either only insulation or insulation+thermal stone (with durability loss) on the surface, and use only thermal stone in the caves. Got it 👍
no, use either only insulation or only thermal stone. I have no idea where the thing with the surface and the caves came from, there's no difference between them other than the world temperature. the main point was that using insulation only helps when the thermal stone isn't already warming you up. @@cursorjustvanished But why though? Once the thermal stone runs out you can still rely on your insulating clothes. Why waste time going back and grabbing thermal stones sooner/just lighting everything on fire every 3 minutes. Just use both like the devs intended it.
@@agentf672 i literally said that in the video, you can either only use thermal stone and refuel it when it gets yellow so you'll never have to make another one, or use both and only reheat when you start freezing so you won't have to reheat as often.

I found that with WX you can throw on just one temp circuit and a thermal stone, it only keeps it at the first stage but since it never actually goes cold you stay warm indefinitely
im not gonna lie i think thermals having durability is braindead and i revert them back to how they used to be in DS with a mod, they used to be infinite because it just makes sense tbh
They are way more powerful in DST, also a single thermal stone will most likely last for an entire season. You can still use sewing kit on it. So I think it is balanced.
My gripe with these games is when random stuff has durability for no reason. Beefalo brushes are so niche and having only 100 uses just makes it not worth it
