As a self-certified DST exploration adept (geez that was a corny line but fr I will upload a video on this in about a week or two) I can say that the chatGPT-tip at 7:48 isn't that bad actually. The "Blue Mushrooms" it's referring to is NOT actually the blue mushtree forest but rather a small patch of blue mushrooms (not mushtrees) within the "wilds" biome. This patch doesn't have any lichen (so you can see it on the map) and 80-90% of the time you have to go through it to find the ruins (unless your ruins are "split")! The patch will always lead you to a village behind which the ruins will be located. In some cases however (about 43% of the time) there will be multiple (2) of these patches each with a village behind them but only one will have the ruins behind it. Looking for the mushroom patch(es) is definitely the #1 thing you should be doing when you find the wilds and the best part is that it will almost always be connected to the initial BIG lichen field and not behind another branch. To break it down easily here is what you should do when you find the lichen if you want to find the ruins ASAP: 1. Stay in the initial big lichen field and run around the edges of it until you see a patch of blue mushrooms. This means that you shouldn't head through other branches, stick to the big lichen field until you find the mushrooms. The mushrooms will also likely be sleeping so keep that in mind 2. Once you find a mushroom patch, look at the map! If there is potential for a large space behind it (i.e, it doesn't curve back to the other caves) explore it. Otherwise if the space seems to small to fit the ruins, either explore it to confirm that the ruins aren't there or look for a second mushroom patch (there can never be more than 2). 3. Behind you should always find a village. Run straight through it to the backside for maximum efficiency. 4. Look for branches (rocky turf) or SMALL patches of guano turf (or the military entrance obviously, the one with 4 pillars in the corners, a statue in the middle, a cave hole and a branch). This is where the ruins will be. If you find a large and relatively empty part of the village with no splumonkeys, don't waste your time since that will not be where the ruins are at. 5. If you don't find a branch to follow to find the ruins, this is the "red haring" village and there will be another mushroom patch leading you to the ruins. Explore it and repeat step 3 and 4. 6. If you didn't find another mushroom patch (or found the ruins randomly) that means your ruins are "split". This means you'll have to look around a little more thoroughly for the ruins (if you still haven't found them yet). Just be aware that it's very unlikely that you have to run far out on branches to find them so don't waste your time exploring those and start close to the entrance first. Start by exploring places where there's actually enough space for the ruins. 7. You likely won't get this far without finding the ruins since this is absolutely the worst case scenario but if you're still out looking, then go ahead and explore every stinking branch until you find them. GL I hope this helped some people find the ruins more easily and I wish you good luck in your search!

I think thermal stones are a noob trap. you gonna survive way way longer with clothes. the only benefit it has is it frees up an equipment slot. I would only ever use it in boss fights.

Clothes don’t warm you up, they slow down how fast you lost temperature . This is powerful combination with a beefalo hat and thermal stone, making you able to survive a full day of winter without having to warm back up once. But using just a thermal stone is still optional.

eventually you'll have a lot of hounds teeth from the attacks and they'll get too dense to beat like that, so you should make tooth traps and densely pack an area with them and go there every hound attack to get them killed by traps
