Amazing! I generally like "normal" coin hunting videos more than detecting, but this idea is so cool that I'm really excited about it! Adding some Canadian collections sounds like a great idea! Are you going to keep everything (double coins and junk) you find?
I find zinc pennies all the time hundreds and hundreds of them at the carwash and when I try to wash them they contaminate all the other coins in the pile so I have to separate everything I can't even take them to Coinstar it jams them up and I get yelled at bu the managers
You add to my excitement everyday. I may be too old to search this way, but where do you concentrate. your searches. I live in a rural area of Northwest Florida, How far away from the older roads do you recommend that I search. Thanks Prowler Pilot here
You are so lucky to be getting so many Canadian coins. I live in Texas, so we almost never see Canadian coins. One might think since I live on the border of Mexico I would see a lot of Mexican coins, but not so much, really. I think it would be a lot of fun for you to get a couple of Canadian coin books and collect them as you do the other coins. If for no other reason, you could always sell them to guys like me. ...and I think there are a lot of guys like me here in the south who would be interested in coins from our friends to the north. Just an idea.
Maybe if you get a blank dansco coin book or one that has different diameters, you can fill it in with the varieties that you find, Canadian, tokens, etc.
Good idea! I think what I can do is just get a binder, put some plastic pages in, and fill those up with 2x2 for the odd stuff that doesn't fit into the collections. It would be cheaper that way- but then again, anything is cheaper that buying a Dansco!
Hey Ryan, I have had a very concerning question boggling in my mind and that is: will we come to a point where countries won’t even use coins anymore and instead rely on online transactions. I know this is inevitable but how soon? With a world with more and more online currencies like crypto, and bitcoin, what will happen? Additionally I also wanted to get some insight to whether the prices of coins are going to increase dramatically if we choose to discontinue all production of coins like Canada did for the penny.
Yes I believe that it is inevitable as well. I think that it could be within our lifetimes, but I'm not sure if the U.S. will be the first to do it. We seem to be more sentimental about our currency, and also we have lobbyists in Washington that are advocating for the coins to stick around because minting and distributing coins provides a lot of jobs and business in the metals industries. They will eventually go away though. Luckily, coins will remain in the ground for hundreds and hundreds of years and those coins can be found by detectorists for a very long time after. That is why I love metal detecting so much!
Quin's Coins wow thanks for the elaborate response. There are very few youtubers who put in the time and effort that you do so keep up the fascinating content.
I have the same metal detector. I bought it a few years ago. I am mad because I want to go find treasure but I can’t find it haha. I need a detector for my detector
OMG RYAN I LITERALLY JUST FOUND AN 1899 P V NICKEL IN MY VERY FIRST NICKEL BOX EVER!!!! I’VE NEVER FOUND ANY BUFFALOS EITHER! IM LITERALLY FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW BECAUSE YOU CAN STILL READ LIBERTY ON LADY LIBERTY’S CROWN! Same box had a 1947s, 1955 plain, and TWO 1950 plains. Those are all
That's what they call beginner's luck! One of my first nickel hunts went similarly and I haven't had anything like it since lol. I bet you're hooked now! Happy hunting!
My oldest coin I have found metal detecting is a 1963 penny I started last summer. Found silver but it is not a coin. It’s silvery and says sterling on it
Hahaha yeah it's gonna take a long time. Luckily there are dozens (hundreds?) of mini milestones that I can hit along the way, like finishing up an entire collection, or a row in an album, or even just finding the first dollar coin! I've found every size of modern coin aside from the large dollars before. I know a place that I can go where I have found both small dollar and half dollar coins before. It's possible to find this stuff- just difficult!
@@QuinsCoins it is a cool series idea for sure! I thought i had a great idea to get an album and try and fill it on screen during hunts, just to realize some channel called Quin's Coins already does that! Doh! Oh well. Still gonna do it, eventually.

Who disliked this its so cool and satifying finding the coins and revealing what type there are.
I think that the zinc penny is a 1990 D

If that’s the case our coins will become way more valuable and better to collect any type of Any date
Good luck! Not the easiest way to collect. I hope your efforts pay off with some truly valuable coins!
15:00 that is a piece of an old sony walkman headphones
Oh haha just before my time! Thanks for the ID!
No problem! It’s from before my time too XD

Cool Idea. I found a Canada and German coin in my yard. I don't have a book for the German.
Salt and Vinegar will eat the crud off those zinc pennies. I metal detect as well and that is what what I soak them in, works great .

Why even set a target albums? Especially being so early in the series...whatever coin you find is your target. :)
Yeah, it's just nice to have a small goal in mind just for the hunt. Makes it interesting!
