The RPG being touched off by a bullet is indeed "technically possible" since the fuze on those things is located on the nose, is piezoelectric and very sensitive in real life the shooter of the pistol would have gotten a face full of molten copper and probably would have been killed regardless.
Additionally, RPG does not stand for Rocket Propelled Grenade. The first two RPGs, RPG-1 and RPG-2, were hand-thrown hollow charge weapons, and were used in WWII.
This movie and it's second one are both super fun. I love how excited Dasha gets while watching a movie, especially when she translates some Russian for us.
Technically, a rocket power grenade travels faster than a 45 caliber bullet, but the grenade takes 33 feet/ 10 meters to ignite its rocket motor, so the scene appears accurate. Please review Red 2. Cheers
14:48 ...Ernest Borgnine, R.I.P.... Truly one of the greatest and most prolific actors of all time. With a career that spreads about 60 years, you'll probably remember him from being Cabby in "Escape from New York"...
Big fan of your reactions. I forgot all about this movie, I always wanted to see it. So, when I saw you reacted to it, I went and watched it. Thank you for the reminder!
Yeeeessssss, finally someone else is reacting to this! Also, Dasha, Karl Urban, the actor that played Cooper, was the one who played Judge Dredd in the movie Dredd.
@@ivaneames4354 My college roommate LOVED that show, and one of our classmates was a forme5r Coast Guard chopper pilot, so he would always ask him about helicopter stuff he saw in "Airwolf."
21:58, the irony of the cast is that (as you guessed) Brian Cox is Scottish, not Russian. However Helen Mirren, originally Mironov, granddaughter of a Russian diplomat stranded with family in Britain, after the Revolution. You may have seen her as Russian ballet instructor in "White Nights" with Baryshnikov, or as a Cosmonaut in "2010: Space Odyssey 2".
Dasha, firearms instructor here: It's not technically possible for multiple reasons. 1) The amount of reflexes it would take to shoot that precisely while it's in flight are beyond the capabilities of a human being. 2) An RPG is a shaped charge, it's meant to blast forwards not backwards. If it does detonate like that, it was because the powder charge to launch it was wrong and it would have blown up the launcher and the shooter along with it. 3) There's no way a CIA agent would be using old ComBloc gear like that, there are many other newer ordnances that a western CIA agent would be using. This isn't a movie about technical accuracy, it's meant to be a throwback to the older action films from back in the day.
The alarm thing seems to change with age... I used to have 4 spread around my room and still had trouble walking up. For the past 15 years all I've needed was my old Alias 2 cell phone (best alarm ever)
lol you believe everything myth fraud said or did they were hardly scientific attempts. Yes its next to impossible but things blow up all the time that shouldn't.
Red 2 is also good. I would love for you to do reactions to the movies The Whole Nine Yards and The Whole Ten Yards starring Bruce Willis, Mathew Perry(RIP), Michael Clark Duncan (RIP) and Amanda Peet.
@@bigdream_dreambig Not really a spoiler. If you look at the cast it clearly gives that information. Plus it might attract her more if there is a Russian female she can identify with. I didn't add any motives for her or how she interacts with him.
If you watch 2010: The Year We Make Contact (the sequel to 2001), you will see and hear a much younger Helen Mirren speak perfect Russian as she plays a cosmonaut.
Even though her real name is actually Helen Lydia Mironoff, and her father was an exiled member of the Russian nobility. she doesn't speak Russian in the slightest! She's just that good an actor, I guess.
I knew you'd like this movie, Dasha. It really impressed me. I think it had a good sequel too. I say I think because I've seen the first one several times and the sequel once, about 11 years ago. I probably should watch that one again.
12:40-12:45 "Tell me, please, technically is that possible?" *technically* it is. once fired a standard RPG round is armed within a second, some are armed immediately... Realistically? it's a 1 in a million shot at best. Your bullet has to hit the detonator trigger which is usually very small, on the nose of the projectile, good news for this shot, a glancing blow would probably trigger it. Bad news, it's accelerating at you rapidly, and you've got to hit something under 3cm across with an not pre-aimed shot in under 1 second, and you don't know where the target is going to be in the next 1 second, other than heading toward you. (If he's this good, the smart move if you're the one with the RPG is to aim low, hit the ground somewhere within 1 meter in front of or behind him, he won't have a direct shot at the detonator point, and he will fully be in the blast radius, at minimum losing his legs if not being killed outright.) I speak little Russian So occasionally I catch a word or two. I really can't transliterate and I don't have my Cyrillic Russian Keyboard configured on my PC. If I were commenting from my phone, I can see the keyboard layout. (please forgive me) Spasibo, shto vy takiye zanimatelnye (hopefully I am close enough you can figure it out)

@3:23 I don't know where I saw it, but a military person once described the settings on his rifle as "Pew" or "Pew Pew" or "No Pew".. just made me laugh when you said it :D
Sigh, the hazard of years of reacting to movies, the actors start to blur in memory. Cooper played by Karl Urban, of "LOTR:2 Towers" and "The Bourne Supremacy". Main baddie? Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws, Close Encounters of the 3rd kind).
This is one of my favorite movies. I just wished they made more than two and kept Morgan Freeman. A few years after this came out I found the graphic novel ( comic book) this was based on. It's amazing they made a romantic action comedy out of a story about a new CIA director trying to have a ex agent killed because he killed Kennedy and bunch of other things.
My only problem with this movie is that Sarah mispronounced the town’s name. Mobile is a town in southern Alabama, on the gulf coast, near the Florida panhandle. And it’s pronounced MOE-BEEL not Mobile. I’ve lived in Alabama my entire life and I know how it’s pronounced. Small grievance, but I don’t like it when people get the names wrong.
I caught that too. Maybe they had her pronounce it wrong on purpose to show her character didn't get out much? I never even hear Yankees mispronounce Mobile.
Weird that Dasha deletes my comments. I gave you a thumbs up and commented that it bothers me too. Comment deleted, not by me, but somehow I still see replies?!?! What can I do to NOT see Dashas content anymore? Just unsubscribed. SMH

Nice! ...this reaction saved my day, that has been total shhht ever since I opened my eyes this morning 👍 Yeah this is good movie, goes my favorites just like Whole Nine Yards. And both of thse also have good sequels!
Find a picture of Helen Mirren (Real last name Mironoff) when she was young. She is half Russian and looks just like you now. Which means you will still be beautiful, as she is, when you are in your 60s. Reason to hope, no?
Dasha, now that you seem to like a romantic spy movie, I know no better YT reactor than you to react to "The Russia House (1990)" with Sean Connery and Michelle Pfieffer. Please consider it.
An overlooked gem of a movie! John Malkovich is a treasure!
Agreed 😊😊
Next, Red 2.
...and after that, Hudson Hawk !

Thoroughly agree
Red 2 sucks and blows, and not in a good way...
Dasha I highly recommend Red 2 specially for you because part of it takes place in Russia
Was it filmed in Russia, or "in Russia"?
Willis. Freeman, Malkovich, Mirren, Urban. God! I love this cast!
Borgnine, Dreyfuss
U forgot Richard Dreyfus
And Ernie B!!!
Dasha loves action, romance and comedy. This is a perfect movie for her

The Mythbusters explicitly tested the premise that you can blow up an RPG rocket with a pistol bullet. It was busted as can be.
