Probably the most underrated film in the franchise. Justin Long manages to hold his own against Bruce Willis's iconic John McClane and, against all odds, the two of them have surprisingly good chemistry together. In the absence of John's wife, (re)introducing Lucy McClane was an inspired way of making sure he still has a personal stake in the drama. Love this film!
The character of Mathew feels more of of a son to John than the gay in the last one, sorry but all he did in 5 was bitc*ing and John trying to keep up in the film.
I was a Concept Artist on the design team for Live Free or Die Hard. We invented all the action sequences! I'm so glad you love this movie. It was one of the most creative gigs I've had in my 20 year career.

What I liked about Timothy's portrayal was that he didn't try to be a Hans Gruber or a Simon Gruber, he played the part to his own skillset and it works so well. He was as good as Irons and Rickman in his own way. His dry sarcastic delivery was so relatable. He's also really great in The Girl Next Door and the Hitman movie.
Raffaelli and Belle costarred together in the enjoiyably anarchic parkour action movie District 13. It's pretty batshit, but tons of fun, definitely worth checking out.

This is one of the best in the series! Kevin Smith has a cameo in the movie and even rewrote some of the dialogue for the movie. He would even work with Bruce Willis on a buddy cop action comedy called COP OUT, but it wasn't well received by critics and there was some tension between them behind the scenes. Smith even called him "an assh--- of a person to work with, he may be everyone's hero, he certainly wasn't mine."

The beef between them got settled later and Kevin even expressed regret about his comments after Willis' aphasia diagnosis came out. That being said, Willis could be a bit of a d1ck even before his illness, apparently.
@@OfficialMediaKnights The difficulties on Cop Out reportedly stemmed from Bruce and everyone else ready to film and Kevin was in his trailer getting stoned. Bruce chastised Kevin harshly, albeit appropriately, for his unprofessional behavior.
Hard to put stock in what Kevin Smith has to say. Though I assume pretty much every actor or actress is a bit of a prick, since they are humans. "Stop bringing his gf back!" True, it's not a wise move; but McClane is kind of an "old boxer": he knows that taunting and harassing an enemy until it gets mad can create an opening, and he is good at that tactic. True, it mostly backfires when he is not in his element, like with a bunch of hackers (they took his money, then they took his daughter...) but low key the tactic partially worked: Gabriel got distracted enough until they got his location and Thomas Gabriel, a genius in computers, can't understang who this guy is sneaking behind his back and coming back for more. I love that at 45:53 Timothy Olyphant shows a shocked face in all the scene: it's not needed for the scene (in reality) or further described, but it shows how the hacker genius that has bested the best technological minds in the country isn't used to the level of violence and confrontation McClane brings to the table. He just can't figure him out... or Lucy XD.

I saw this in theaters and it was legit chilling when the President mashup came on. It came right as I was starting to form my own story ideas and get into filmmaking. It’s not the best Die Hard movie, but it’s still fun as hell. Justin Long really makes this movie.
Maggie Q is a stunning actor that never quite got the Blockbuster role she deserves. Her best action roles are in Mission Impossible 3, Die Hard 4, The Protege and The Family Plan.

So I wanted to say congrats you two, you might be the first movie reaction channel to potentially watch all 5 Die Hard movies! I have been an insane fan of this movie series since i was a kid, and particularly, I collected many different versions throughout the years. When approaching the fifth and final die hard movie, many fans beg you not to watch it because the movie feels too rushed and short, well I have a special collectors edition that expands the movie, to make it an actual enjoyable watch! The original movie is rushed to 90 minutes, but this ultra collectors edition I have is 2 hours long! It fills in plot holes that the commercial releases don't show. I just want to see you watch the correct version of the fifth movie so you are not disappointed, because the movie is actually pretty good if you watch the correct version. As other versions of this movie leave people with confusion, and disappointment. I have a fitting version for the finale for you! And I can send it to you guys if you want me to. But if you already got a version of the fifth movie or already filmed your reactions to it, that's totally fine. (TLDR) Just wanted to let you guys know that I can send you a digital version of the fifth Die Hard film that expands the movie and makes it SOOO much better, so you guys aren't disappointed with the ones you find on amazon and other streaming sites. If you read that, thanks! And let me know!
To be honest, I hope that they don't screw things up since they announced that they are trying to produce a prequel movie to the Die Hard series where they will introduce a young john Mclean. 🙏🙏 Pray that they don't ruin the franchise.
This one was ahead of its time with technology hacking crippling of government agencies systems would be catastrophic very underrated especially directors cut of film
The unrated version has more swearing & a bit more blood, I'm from England & its title is Die-Hard 4.0 over here 😂 I think this is a awesome movie with great action & is my conclusion to the Die-Hard franchise as the fifth film is horrendous & best avoided.
This is my second favourite of the franchise. The R-Rated director’s cut makes it even better! Justin Long is charismatically funny; a great show with him in it is Giri Haji.
This has been such a great series you've done and you're editing is just so fantastic. Very enjoyable to spend time with you both. Thanks so much for sharing
Guys I think you’d like Swordfish. Could feel dated since tech has moved on but first movie I saw with Hugh Jackman. Travolta is great, plus Halle Berry & supporting cast. A ‘cool’ visual tech movie.
Very underrated movie. My second favorite die hard next to the first. The chemistry between Bruce and Justin is perfect. Timothy plays a perfect villain
Even though I'm a old man raised on Die Hard 1,2,and 3... I adore Live Free - I love the baddie and the story of a old hero, dealing with the 'modern' high tech bad guy was such a neat idea. Love the Kevin Smith cameo too!
36:53 i JUST recognized her from her role in "The Good Doctor" TV series on CBS. If I were ever to recommend a non-traditional medical drama to be reacted to, which I have NEVER done, even though they used to be my favorite type of TV show, this would be it. ER was my favorite and set many milestones, but "The Good Doctor" is more current, but faces non-traditional barriers. You guys, with your mature outlook at the world, with some of its social impacts, especially in the medical industry, would appreciate it. Even if you do it as a Patreon exclusive. Its a GREAT SHOW!
As a technophile I really loved this movie and could see the dangers back when it was released and think why it wasn't viewed as well is because so many don't understand our technology dependence.
I really enjoy this installment of the franchise. It has all the ridiculous action bits as the others, and adds an interesting, almost father/son relationship between two very different protagonists. The villain was sufficiently villainy, and the setting was interesting. Even the FBI were competent, which they weren't in the previous movies where they had a role. The humour was there also. It was tonally different from the previous movies, although still a heist movie, but I was ready for a change in that regard.
loved the chemistry between long and willis - wished they had did more buddy movies together. 'live free' was actually my favorite one in the die hard series
There's so much in this movie that makes it good from Maggie Q who was a student of Jackie Chan to a cameo by Kevin Smith and a good villan in Timothy Olyphant who is amazing as Raylan Givens in Justified even an appearance by Sung Kang Fast and Furious and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lucy. Oh and the song Justin Long was listening to was Flyleaf a chriatian rock band.😊
This one gets overlooked because it is outside of the trilogy, but aside from a few silly moments (fighter jet, et cetera) this is a really fun action flick.
The *ONLY* good thing about the fifth and final film in the franchise, A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD, is the tagine they used on the poster: "Yippie Kai Yay, Mother Russia" 😂
Noice! Paused what I was watching and came here immediately when I noticed this in the sidebar. You guys Rule, Cheers and Happy Weekend from Canada. 🥃☮❤ The third-best of the franchise and a great movie with an absolutely stacked cast.
Best Die Hard IMO!!! The comedy and action was amazing!!! I can't say I loved any of the previous ones more than this one. Just a really solid installment.

Aw thank you so much, this is such a sweet comment! You just made our day also 🥰
such a underrated sequel, that white house scene is iconic and one of my favorites in the franchise.
I'm from New Orleans. That FEMA line hit EXTRA hard when I saw this in theaters. And honestly it kinda still does...
This was the movie that put me onto Flyleaf. Life would never be the same ❤
Oh snap its my favorite Vulcan Tuvok didn't notice him before
I saw this in theaters and it was legit chilling when the President mashup came on.
My fave Die Hard out of the franchise!! Love your reactions! If you're up for another Timothy Olyphant movie, I really recommend watching A Perfect Getaway!!
Part-3 will forever be the Best, Bigger & Better in every way, but Part-4 really does try to be a worthy contender! I Love how they went full Techno-Thriller with this one, really makes the whole Movie look-&-feel so cleverly Inspired!👍
I absolutely love this movie so much. Lots of incredible action and so much crazy insanity going on. So glad you guys reacted to this. You guys are awesome
Thanks guys, this is so cool! Long and Willis hit it off .
Bruce had a wonderful career playing (for the most part) characters we all love to love. The premise of this 2007 film is truly scary, especially now with real cyber attacks on the USA. Thanks you two and look forward to the next one.
Saw this at the cinema with my mom.the best movie experience of my life.on the big screen with theatre sound its just fucking fantastic.love this movie.thanks for watching.
The moment that Flyleaf "I'm So sick" came on, I legit gasped so loud 8n the theater and started singing along!
One of my favorite scenes is when there in warlocks basement. And he asks him are you a fan of the Fett? No I was always into Star Wars
Many people talk about Lucy McClain, but what did your daughter give to this film? There wasn’t much of her, at the beginning, where she had sex with a guy and had a fight with her father, showing her strong character, a little in the middle, where she was held hostage, told her father the number of terrorists, and at the end in the final battle, where she screamed along with the stupid jock Emerson, after hitting the henchman Thomas with the back of her head, penetrated with her tied hands into the holster with Emerson's pistol, after which she shot him in the foot and he dropped his machine gun on the floor, screaming, grabbing her hands so that she would not kill him with his own pistol, she turned around while Emerson was screaming and screaming and kicked Emerson's machine gun at his father and Thomas stopped him at the last second, then after everything she ran up to her father and sobbed for her attitude towards him at the very beginning.
There wasn't much of her in this film, unfortunately (
So I wanted to say congrats you two, you might be the first movie reaction channel to potentially watch all 5 Die Hard movies!
The first Die Hard will always be my personal favorite. Another great reaction.
Aahhh the first Die Hard just hits different!!
To be honest, I hope that they don't screw things up since they announced that they are trying to produce a prequel movie to the Die Hard series where they will introduce a young john Mclean. 🙏🙏 Pray that they don't ruin the franchise.
Yeah, just pretend the series ended here. If you ignore 5, it goes away. I promise.
This one was ahead of its time with technology hacking crippling of government agencies systems would be catastrophic very underrated especially directors cut of film
Love your guy's reaction to all the Die Hards so far. You guys got to continue with the Lethal Weapon series. You will not be disappointed 😊
sidenote love this one! justin long was a great addition to the series! justin long is always a quirky character that hits the mark everytime!!!
Yeeesss, we love the character work he does, it's something new every time!! What a talented actor!
7:55 8:57 9:31
14:34 18:03 18:53 29:02
29:52
33:19 yeah its Maggie Q, trained by Jacki Chan, no doubles
The unrated version has more swearing & a bit more blood, I'm from England & its title is Die-Hard 4.0 over here 😂
I think this is a awesome movie with great action & is my conclusion to the Die-Hard franchise as the fifth film is horrendous & best avoided.
This is my second favourite of the franchise. The R-Rated director’s cut makes it even better! Justin Long is charismatically funny; a great show with him in it is Giri Haji.
McClane has always been a detective
Love the Kevin Smith cameo too!
the song, "Im so sick" by Flyleaf. Shes got a wicked set of pipes on her.
Freaking LOVE Timothy Olyphant!
Scream 2, The Crazies, Justified, man is a LEGEND.
@4:55 That was them tying up loose ends and eliminating the “useful idiots”. Brutal.
Great way to set the tone immediately!
You two look like reactors who would LOVE Hayao Miyazaki. They are my childhood and you will be honored to go through the same journey I did.
~7:51 "That's a sick song"
Made me lol because the title of the song is "I'm So Sick" by Flyleaf xD;
Mary Elizabeth Winsted is amazing in this. She said shes the polar opposite of her character, but she nails it lol
Always enjoy reactions on this channel. Feedback during films is A1 enjoy the banter
Watching this with you makes me realize how good this movie was. Great reaction.
Hi folks! You two are my favorite reactors, here on TH-cam. You both are cool and feel like real friends 💯
Just to say , can’t wait for your next reaction as soon you finish one! Keep it up guys, it’s a fun company “watching” a Movie with you two!
THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE FROM THE FRANCHISE IM SO HYPED TO SEE YOUR REACTIONS !
loved the chemistry between long and willis - wished they had did more buddy movies together. 'live free' was actually my favorite one in the die hard series
this is my Christmas holiday movies to watch love Die Hard franchises and LOOOOOVE John thanks guys
Thank you for watching this with us!
It's hilarious how Thomas Gabriel tells the fighter jet to attack the truck and the pilot was like "OKIE DOKIE" without a second thought.
The third-best of the franchise and a great movie with an absolutely stacked cast.
Aw this is such a sweet comment, thank you so much!! You made our day!!
Much love back to Canada, thank you for being with us!
DH one is obviously the classic, but four is by far my favourite.
Great review guys. Awesome. Great 🎉work!
And that is why here in Spain it is mandatory to drive with your lights on inside every underpass and tunnel there is.
Best Die Hard IMO!!! The comedy and action was amazing!!! I can't say I loved any of the previous ones more than this one. Just a really solid installment.

Thats a good one. I can tell you all were having a good time with it. No analysis time. Just a fun ride with the man from Nakatomi Towers 👍
This ones actually super underrated. Sure its extreme and kind of ridiculous, but its AWESOME
Over the top sure but fun!
@@OfficialMediaKnights oh, a freakin blast. Certified banger
What always blows my mind is that at the the time of the movie the internet had only been around in force for a little over 10 years, and yet even then we were completely vulnerable to this scenario. Imagine now 17 years later.
the fridge in front of the door reminded me of ERASER with Arnold
The building blowing up at 28 mins reminds me of the bit from Austin powers with the footage from Independence Day 😂
It's the Parkour skills, it protects you and gives you plot armor 😂😂😂 Thanks for that, I laughed so hard the Dr Pepper I had just taken a sip of shot out my nose 🤣🤣🤣
A lot of underrated actors in this movie whether it’s Tim Russ from Voyager, that bald European guy from Walking Dead: Dead City, Cliff Curtis from FTWD, Justin Long, Timothy Olyphant, Maggie Q and more.
Timothy Olyphant has had some wonderful performances besides this move, of which include A Perfect Getaway, The Girl Net Door, and The Crazies.
This one has the best use of his "Yippie Kay Yay MFer" line, in my opinion.
And then he shot through himself to shoot Thomas Gabriel
@@jamesbartee6184 That's why I think it's the best use of it.
He uses it and then does what he does.
Another one of my top 10 movies. 🥳Burning through your content and thoroughly enjoying your reactions. 😎

1 is a classic obviously but this one is my favorite of them all.
John Mclane, proof that you sometimes need an analogue guy in a digital world
The parkour guy is one of the guys that invented it. See District B-13 for more of him.
