    I'd like to thank Chris for helping me pass my clinical engineering atestation exam. One of the questions I got was hospital HVAC and air filtering. Thanks to your channel I was able to talk about it expertly and answer all the questions in excruciating detail. Thank you.

    That auxillary switch isn't going to last long with the full load of the heaters going through it. Should add a 208v relay or contactor to take the load of the heaters and still use the aux switch for an interlock.

    Not sure either about the walk in branding but I think if you call Kolpak they send you to Russel for tech support. My company in the deep south installs and maintains walk ins. I know delfield/Manitowoc’s parent company was bought out and they split off their Manitowoc ice from the rest of the parent company so my info may not be accurate anymore. Haven’t had to call them but once this year when confirming some install spec for a unit in March of 23

      There’s an Arby’s my company works at from time to time and they will just leave the door to the freezer open for hours. The walls are basically covered in ice. It’s crazy and no matter how often we tell them to keep the door closed. They won’t. It amazes me the unit even works properly still

      I worked on a 36" subzero all Freezer years ago... defrost drain had plugged. ice had built up to the ice maker and when the i/m called for water, it had sprayed inside the freezer box. I was called because they couldn't open the door. i got it opened and it was almost an entire block of ice 10" thick across the back and ice sprayed all over... thawed it and called Sub-Zero techs about it. they send a defrost drain heater. Pretty cool to see them send me this for a 1980s appliance.... but yeah, about 10"s of ice on a freezer unit... and yes, I know, I'm not talking about a walk-in freezer...

      @@Drakarue I'm from across the pond and we've figured out a pretty good solution for this problem. Just install a loud, and I mean LOUD, alarm with a door sensor. Set the delay for 2 minutes or so and ta-da, problem solved.
      Sometimes you might have to replace a siren or two because the employees get fed up and poke at it with a screwdriver until it doesn't work tho :P

    This might be a silly question, and perhaps it is simply a matter of code, but couldn't you bolt the panels back to the wall and seal them against moisture ingress with some kind of aluminized tape?

  • @marksnyder2232
    @marksnyder2232 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Are those fan guards directional, or can they be turned over? If you can rotate them, either 90 degrees or 180 degrees, that would move the hazard up and farther away from the employees. It's not a permanent fix, but reduces the hazard while you get the authorization and get the parts in hand. Just a thought. Educational as always.

    From all the damage and seeing the fire sprinkler, I wonder if the sprinkler line above the freezer box got compromised and put water down the sides, then froze, ruining the insulation and bowing the walls in... Their freezer box simply needs to be completely replaced.

    It's been.. 🎵 "One week since you looked at me, cocked your head to the side and said 'I'm angry...'" Sorry, I had to go there.
    OK, so it's been one full week since my store has been closed for renovations (FINALLY!). I've seen the progress, or lack thereof since Friday morning, and allegedly we're re-opening this coming Saturday. I think that's an overly optimistic projection. There's still no ceilings, flexible ducts dangling down, floors replaced with tile so the grout can be nasty again in a few months, walls have been gutted completely and the floorplan changed. I don't think we'll be ready, but we shall see, won't we? As of this morning (Sunday) we've known for one whole day that we all have mandatory training on the new equipment Wednesday, but the time and location are STILL to be determined.

    I see there was a sprinkler in the freezer. When I worked at Kroger, we had our Deli freezer go down overnight and I worked overnight at the time, anyway when the freezer went down and got above 32° the sprinkler burst and set the fire alarm off. Not fun having the fire alarm go off at 3 in the morning and you don’t know why it went off.

    I've never liked electrical tape being used for looming wires. Leaves a sticky residue.
    I prefer Tywraps, of course the modern cheap plastic counterfeits from China only last so long before they become brittle and break. Also they don't take the kind of tension that the name brand quality nylon Tywraps will take and you'll break some during installation. I carry a Tywrap tensioning cutting tool in my bag when I have a lot of wiring work to do. The tension is adjustable and they'll cut the end under tension so that the cut end is below the surface of the tensioner thus eliminating getting cuts from the sharp ends. Any one of us working in a panel where they've been cut some other way know about the cuts we get in the backs of our hands from those sharp edges. It's a little thing, but it's very nice.

    they build their ice and beverage series quiet cubers exactly the same way, with the junk pressure switches and the super flimsy metal. I see nothing but issues with their defrost not being sufficient and drain oans warping and compressors crapping out and pressure switches blowing out its just bult SO chincy

      Witt/htpg/Russell is owned by rheem and I don't see much of their new stuff, but I have walk boxes with witt equipment from 1994-2016 at the hospital I work at, cold rooms that are water cooled with capacity control and I really don't have any issues with the units. Random leaks here and there on the condensing units from vibration, fan motors failing here and there. But overall pretty robust equipment. They ALL use Copeland semi hermetic compressors which are basically indestructible 😂😂 out of 100~ of them on campus som being almost 30 years old I've Only seen ONE fail. That's through multiple water losses refrigerant losses you name it. The ONLY compressor I would call more reliable than a Tecumseh is a Copeland semi Hermetic. It's like the Toyota of compressors 🤣🤣🤣 you just can't kill them.....

    • @jasontexter1721
      @jasontexter1721 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@colinstu everything new is junk 🤣🤣🤣 heat craft is built pretty well but the evaps leak sometimes and every carrel expansion valve is absolutely trash, and if you aren't familar with their setup and wiring, the larger stuff with communication between the evap and condensor can be hard to start up especially the freezers. Turbo air makes great well built products for walk in boxes and come with anti corrosion coating from the factory for whatever that's worth but they are made with sturdy metal, come with time clocks on all units, Copeland compressors, sporlan valves and solenoids good pressure controls and are very well priced usually 2/3-1/2 the cost of competitors I try to install them whenever the application allows.
      Trenton products are on par with heat craft when it comes to build quality but have less features haven't had many major issues with them but they are very overpriced.
      Copeland and Tecumseh make purpose built condesing units that are probably the best in the market, but you have match up your own evaps, the Copeland ones can have transducer/controller issues from time to time but are great otherwise.
      I couldn't say any of them are the /best/ but if I had to pick one it would be turbo air for the price point, name brand components and how rigid the materials are.
      But if I was going to make one myself, it would be rigid steel bodies with powder coating and heavy galvanizing none of this aluminum or really thin steel crap, Tecumseh compressor or Copeland semi hermetic an Emerson/GE/ or Tecumseh condensor fan motor, one piece tubing bends no brazed U bends on the condenser, always tube and fin never microchannel because I'm on the coastnl if cost wasn't an issue it would have copper fins on both condenser and evap.
      Cast iron sealed Evap fan motors. (The ones in true reach in boxes would last 20+ years) none of those open style psc with capacitors or ECM motors I don't see how green something can be when it has to be replaced 5-10 times when you could just use ONE single motor that outlasts some entire systems 🤣🤣
      Always hot gas defrost instead of electric on freezers, way less chance of burnt wires, they defrost faster and more completely.
