It makes me happy when people clap after the first movement of this concerto, because it means there's a lot of new people in the crowd discovering it for the first time. 💜 And that is always wanted. I always think the first movement of the Tchaikovsky kind of invites you to clap when you first hear it because the ending is so explosive, so a lot of people instinctively clap first time they hear it.
'Not clapping between movements' is a relatively new invention. In Mozart's days the audience would clap even during a movement, e.g. at an unexpected harmonic turn.
They clapped in the first movement because they don’t know the music, not surprised ,they think the music is done.Not all anybody understands the classical music, even Leopol Auer before didn’t know this piece music and said it’s anti violin, refused to play it. Today they know completely the technics of this piece music and it becomes one of the four masterpiece violins : Mendelssohn’s violin concerto in E minor, Brahm’s violin concerto in D major, Beethoven’s violin concerto in D major and Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto in D major. In the future I think maybe one more it’s Max Bruch’s violin concerto in G minor.

He taught Itzak Perlman,also Michael Rabin, Pincha Zukermann, Wang hoa Chung etc.. Jascha Heitzfet is a great virtuoso , perfect violin technic, a championist of violin but a bad violin teacher, he just said watch me , watch me when he teaches the violin for his students.

I like her posture--she is a natural, without affectation or indication of 'pomp'-- she is at ease and full of poise. Every note sparkles. Magnificent is the word!

내가 이곡을 감명깊게 들은적은 1985년초경 정경화씨가 런던필과 연주하는 방송을 들었을 때였다. 너무나 감격을 해서 울기까지 했다. 당시 나는 외항선 통신장이였다. 노르웨이를 출항하여 남미 브라질로 향하던중 도버해협을 통과중이였다. 선상에서 듣는 한국인의 연주 차이코프스키의 거작 바이올린협주곡 No.1 또다시 세월이 지나 한국인의 연주를 들으니 역시 또 감격. 너무나 훌륭한 연주.기교.감정. 사실 이곡은 연주자가 완전히 협주곡과 함께 음악세계에 몰입하지 못하면 훌륭한 음을 표현할수 없다. 안단테 칸타빌레,우울한 세레나데, 교향곡 5,7번등. 훌륭한 연주 감사드립니다. 후라~

Kim will be great violinist in 10 years as like Hilary Hahn when Kim add depth and scrutiny of the composer's works.
She is already living in a different musical world with her own soul and tone. Personally I prefer Bomsori to cold and clone like music.
