The thing with teeth that keeps the coupler from sliding back, what is that? And what do I do if mine is missing that?

Atwood coupler. Supposedly you can't repair them, but you can drive the pin out to take them apart. In my case the tongue was bent just a hair behind the coupler which wasn't allowing it to slide back enough. My dad had a chunk of steel just a bit wider than it, so he ground it into a slight wedge and we beat it into the hitch with a sledge hammer... That was after I dismantled, stripped, painted, and greased the coupler parts which did very little good.

Sir, I apologize but do not know how this works or if I can contact you directly. I just purchased a vintage 1970 Travois camper trailer and my coupler looks very similar to this, however all that is on it is the "horseshoe" ring and a bolt. I liked the video but I could not locate the actual repair or replacement video. Do you know if I could replace this with a Curt Coupler Repair kit? Do you know where I can purchase a replacement? Can I, and how would I send you a picture if you would like to help me out? Thank You

Should've used a pin or a padlock just to be on the safe side.
