  • I'm so excited to share with you a video of my custom Jack Knife sofa. Is that with 2 k's? Or is it Jacknife sofa. Lol. Anyway it's a little couch in my camper that turns in to a bed. So I guess you could call it a convertible? I did not want to do a slipcover, I really wanted to recover it with some fun fabric. All did not go according to my original plan, but, the result is awesome! If you like what you see, follow along, I will show you all the details.
    Happy Camping!

    Your husband was so sweet to thank you for all your stitching and he seems genuinely pleased with the outcome. He is right, it was a great team effort!

    You are fearless !!!! (but seemingly not in a reckless way). I tend to overthink these projects. I watched your earlier trailer video a few weeks ago and then happened to see the cushion covering video earlier tonight. I have sewn these type of covers with cording and zippers several times before.
    Now I'm looking for some tips to help a friend who has not sewn so much but you know... she is also quite fearless. we are starting tomorrow. we are starting by phone and she can watch your videos if she wants. we need to maintain social distance since I have some health issues and i need to protect both my self and my friend. you have excellent intuition about your projects not to mention spectacular joy :).
    Okay, I also have purchased a tent trailer that needs a complete tear down. I've started it already but it is raining here (finally) in Northern Ca. My garage is full of projects. I piled it up and threw a tarp over for the warmer days. short story/ long explanation: I think both my friend and I will have success and meet at her favorite coastal camping spot soon.

    Thanks so much for your video! We just bought a 'new-to-us' camper & the couch is 90's mauve & brown BIG roses. It sooo has to go. This gives me a starting point. I have 11 yards of denim that I bought to redo our even older (1976) camper & never used as we decided to do something else with those cushions.

    You did a great job! I didn't take mine out, I just held up and sewed fabric on it. I am going to ask my husband if we can take out bolts and recover it like you did it. I did my cushions to my benches but then decided to take them out.

      Hi Pam, well it didn’t seem that hard for him to get it out, but hey, if you’re happy with it the way it is, I would leave it. Lol, I’m the queen of shortcuts! Good luck! 🥰🥰🥰

    It's called a Jackknife sofa because it folds and straightens like a jackknife :-)
    But i have never seen one that fills Folds like yours. Lucky duck!

    I’m completely in love with the fabric choice. Where was it purchased? I’m hoping to try this on our rv sofa... 😱. I’m super nervous about my redo but it’s really awful now so I’ve got to give it a go. As it is, I can’t stand spending time in it and your video makes me hopeful that I can fix it. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work. I’m inspired. 👏

      I was going to make them, but I was horrible at it! Lol. I found these on Amazon. As for the sofa, You can do it!! And, you will love it!! happy camping!!

  • @campingqueen8121
    @campingqueen8121 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow!! You did an amazing job!! We took our jack knife sofa apart to try and reinforce it since the cushion was saggy. Because it was in sections on each part I didn't think that I could cover it.(I see that you just covered over those sections) We did end up putting a piece of plywood under the bottom part and that made it tons firmer! Our sofa doesn't flip over but slides down to make the bed. Do you know about how much fabric that it took to do the dinette cushions and the sofa? Your hubby is so good to help fulfill your wishes. Mine is too. What we do without them!!!

    • @FarrellFocus
      @FarrellFocus  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      camping queen I’m not sure how much fabric it took. I ended up buying a whole bolt on clearance. I’d love to see yours!! 😊

    Hi!! Thank you Jackie!! How many yards do you think you used?

    • @FarrellFocus
      @FarrellFocus  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure, but you should be able to get a rough guess by just measuring all pieces. I often try to have extra fabric for these projects, it’s come in handy. Good luck! 😊😊😊

      @countrystyle5076 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say 5 or 6 yards 44 inches wide. Measure your sofa and add about a foot on each end for the sides.

    So you have a “hubby”. Did he give input on that fabric you used or are you just into emasculating him with the girly design? I’m guessing the poor guy doesn’t have much say in stuff around the house.

    • @FarrellFocus
      @FarrellFocus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, my husband married a girl, so he loves that about me. And it’s my trailer. He also helped my decorate my beautiful sewing room! If he gets a trailer, I would happily help him fix it up any way that he wants. He is most definitely the man of our house. Thanks! 😊
