    Same thing we did with ours guys. We have a 2015 Newmar Baystar and even though ours wasn’t peeling like that we had that same style sofa that was uncomfortable and absolutely worthless!!! Our Recpro doesn’t have that center recliner but has a console instead with the lighted permanent cup holders with USB ports. But it’s comfortable and a breeze to install. Highly recommend it!!

    • @Five2Go
      @Five2Go  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We were originally looking at the two recliner version with the center console, but we had an 80" space to fill and those topped out around 70" or so I think. This guy fills the space nicely!

    Hi Brian and Aaron!
    Just wanted to let you know I hit the thumbs up button. So that will help you meet your goal for 1,000 likes. Live the couch. It’s ok to get rid of of the old one if it’s falling apart. Hope the are all doing fine and loving their new home. So glad you put out a new video. Miss you both. Oh going get me a five2go shirt but deciding on colors.

  • @JG-yh8wz
    @JG-yh8wz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes. The first thing that a new RV owner should know is that they are maintenance from the moment they roll out of the lot and dealers that want to help you after that point are few and far between. If you are going to own an RV you had better know how to fix things or you will have nothing but a pile of junk withing a year or two.

    • @Five2Go

      We have the anchors from the old couch and will use them if we see any movement next time we're driving.

  • @fireincumbents
    @fireincumbents 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Don't want to be a debbie downer but.... A year from now, you MAY have troubles. The material is starting to flake off and my right side manual actuator frayed and broke. They responded quickly, seeing what they'll do... Just wanted to say that RecPro is a great solution, but it can wear out quickly.

    • @Five2Go
      @Five2Go  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yikes! Hopefully it's just a fluke. It looks like the fabric warranty is two years and the mechanical is three so hopefully they'll take care of it for you.

    • @fireincumbents
      @fireincumbents 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      RecPro has been great with making this right. They sent me out a new pull cord assembly AND at anytime that I feel the material damage is too much to live with, I can get a hold of them for complete replacement. They tried to offer me a hundred bucks cash to settle it, but that would preclude me from future claims, so I declined that and they had no problem with that at all. So that's good news!!!

  • @mike4769
    @mike4769 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So what holds the couches down in a accident. Hopefully it's not the kids in the seatbelts that hold the couch down.

    • @Five2Go
      @Five2Go  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The kids are in the dinette in child seats because child seats aren't supposed to ride sideways or backwards. You can see that arrangement in our more recent videos. The couch is screwed down into the floor, we just didn't show that part because we didn't do it until a few days later.

      Situational Adventures some people are clueless when it comes to buying used-RVs, cars, houses etc. Stuff breaks or just doesn’t fit a person’s life or likes and needs to be replaced. Now if the engine conked out & the problem should’ve been caught when being checked out by the dealership, then go back to the dealer if it’s a big ticket to fix.

    It's not just the REV Group owned product lines that had issues. I read on a Newmar forum about having the same issue. (mostly 2012-214) They were made by Flexsteel™ but the manufacturer picks the fabric. Did the old one have seat belts? Did you bolted it down? I'm pretty sure the one you took out was. They're bolted down so they don't become projectiles in an accident.

    • @Five2Go
      @Five2Go  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our front seats are Flexsteel I think but the couch wasn't. It was some kind of custom built piece - there were measurements and cut lines all over the wood that was under the fabric. There are seat belts on the floor under there and the old couch was bolted down. We've got the anchors and will install them if the couch moves next time we drive, but the seat belts are staying down on the floor since we won't be using them.

    • @billlambert4153
      @billlambert4153 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had the same problem on our 2016 Winnebago Vista seats and couch. We ended up replacing all 3 with new flexsteel seats and couch. I think that it was a fabric issue of that time frame.

As a temporary fix I found a pair of men’s knee length dress socks that were a perfect match to the leather and just slipped them over. • @Five2Go
      @Five2Go  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We're not really convinced it was wear - there is definitely something wrong with the fabric. It may have been how it was cleaned, how long it sat, etc. Regardless, that couch was super uncomfortable. The other things that are starting to crack are way more comfortable though so we may have to figure out how to recover them instead of replacing them...

  • @joelmullins8965

    We replaced the sfa in our TT for basically the same reasons. The pleather was peeling and it wasn't really comfortable not to mention the pleather sticking to our legs in the Texas heat. We got lucky and found the middle of a sectional at a pottery barn outlet for $200 which fit perfectly. I was surprised how poorly constructed while also quite heavy the factory sleeper was.

    • @Five2Go
      @Five2Go  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the couch we pulled out of here was just chunks of foam on wood. It was extremely uncomfortable. The one we just put in is built like a proper couch/recliners - cushions, springs, etc. Much better!

      They're on the dinette now. This one is super easy to turn into a bed - you just turn one handle and the table slides down - move the cushions and you're done. The dinette in our last rig took a good 5 minutes to convert which would have been really annoying. They have way more room on the dinette bed, especially because Vector sleeps with them too 😋

    We love our Recpro recliner. We purchased it over a year and a half ago. It sat on the honey do list for six months setup after delivery in our family room and used almost daily. It replaced our euro lounger in the motorhome . It has been exposed to extreme heat 115f and above and only 25f for lows and is as soft as the day we purchased. We live in the desert of AZ. We are not full timers but we do travel a lot. Just got back from dropping off our daughter at college in TN and we made stops along the Louisiana and Texas gulf just before the hurricanes hit.
    We purchased our unit used also and things will go wrong and things need replacing. It’s just part of the journey. Stay well and safe travels Five2go!

    Very nice new couch. When it is time to replace the front seats, does this company make seats that will go with the new sofas? It was a hassle to get the old sofa out, so...how did the manufacturer get the furniture into the coach originally? Thank you for sharing.

    • @Five2Go
      @Five2Go  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      RecPro doesn't have replacements for the front seats but they're only wearing on the arms so far so they're good for now. They do have dinette options but we haven't looked too closely at those yet. As for getting furniture into RVs, they're often loaded up with the big stuff in the factory before the slides are installed.

      That's a good point actually and not one we thought about! In our last RV, a travel trailer, that would have definitely been an issue. Motorhomes almost always have inverters and plenty of onboard power for everything so I don't think it would have been an issue in here - all of our outlets have power regardless of a shore connection.

    Your sofa looks great. That peeling ultra leather hit a lot of people we have a 2013 Tiffin Allegro Open Road. We have replaced both captain chairs from The Bunk House in Red Bay, AL. We just received our new sofa and recliner from RecPro. We ordered the cloth because we have to put our RV in storage when we are at home and from what we read the cloth may hold up better in the heat. Dinette will probably be next. RecPro Charles collection, 30" zero wall RV recliner, wall hugger, RV living (slideout) chairs. Cloth Oatmeal. These are nice chairs, easy install, came thru our doorway w/o having to remove door, screen door either.
    24.5" opening. So much nicer, made huge difference in space as well.

    I really enjoyed your video. I am currently in the same dilemma. I recently purchased a 2011 Tiffen Allegro 36qsa and the furniture looked good. Three months later the upholstery started to shed like a snake slithering out of its skin. What a disaster. When this process starts it progresses at a rapid rate. I contacted Tiffen and they told me the coach was to old to recieve any assistance. They were only helping people that had the issue within 5years. After doing extensive research I found that Rec Pro and Thomas Payne by Lippert are manufactured in China and are upholstered in the same material that failed you on your old sofa. The Tiffen has Flexsteel furniture that is manufactured in the USA. That being said the fabric they used had the same failure rate. The frames that Flexsteel used are superior in quality so we are going to keep the existing furniture and have it recovered with a far superior fabric to see if we can resolve this issue. Your new recliners look fabulous and I hope you have better luck with the longevity of the material. Keep us posted out here cuz I am sure your viewers want to know as do I.🤓🤓🤓
