The platform was built by my crew.Y.A.C.C. good to see it.I was there summer of 1980 after Mt.St.Helens. Flew in with Ernie Gibson in his floatplane. Spent the season at our camp.I am Black from Birmingham in my old age.I shall never forget it.
I hope everyone there and around Lake Chelan are staying safe with that fire over there. My family goes to Lake Chelan every year to camp and we had to cancel… Stay safe everyone!
Thank you for sharing this video. My Mama and I took the LOTL in August of 2021. She'd never been before and loved the trip and the area. I lost her early on Mother's Day this year, and this reminded me of her better days.💕 Forever #missingMama
Was looking at the location of a small earthquake epicenter and saw the place on the map. Looked it up on YT, saw your video and appreciate the share, sir.
Holden Village above Lucerne is operated by the Lutheran Church (ELCA). I used to go there for youth group retreats in high school. IT's a great place!
Back in the olden days, the Pastry Company was called Honey Bear Bakery. Story goes that the baker’s son earned an impressive scholarship to university after being homeschooled. The family moved to Seattle, and customers funded a whole new bakery near Green Lake.
I was up there in about 1982 and did a weeklong hike up McAlister Pass etc. I remember the Honeybear bakery buying cinnamon rolls and eating in the park restaurant and staying at national park lodge there. also remember getting a salad from that garden place, very fresh!
The Courtney family has been in the Valley for over 100 years. The Ranch is on the original homestead. Ray Courtney was instrumental in mediating conflics when the valley became Part of North Cascades Park Ray died in a tragic horse accident at Hilgard Pass. To earn a living in the 60,s he became a world known ski lift cable splicer, a skill he learned at Holden Village before WW2 when it was a active mine. In WW2 he was a muleskinner with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. A beautiful valley full of remarkable people
Thanks for putting this video guide together. My wife and I and friends visited about 10 years ago and we're thinking about going back again in 2024.
You're welcome. If you go, have a great time!
Thank you for bringing us along!
The best hiking and camping trip I have ever taken in my 75 years. This is truly god's country.
One of the small towns you hike thru on thr Pacfic Crest Trail.

Interesting. Always enjoy learning more and more about Stehekin.
That was very informative and truly helped my planning
Glad I could help. Information that would have helped me for our trip as well. Worth the trip though. Have a great time!
6:20 best t-shirt. Love Matt's vids
Besides Rocky Mountain sheep what other kinds of animals would you find here?
back in the day there was talk of putting a road in from the west side of the state from Darrington WA.
glad that never happened. it keeps this area so unique
Bad idea
Great video....That's not mist it's rain lol
It saddens me to say that Stehekin now is in danger of being damaged by the Pioneer fire
You can also get around on the bus
Yeah so how much does it cost? And did you mention the fact that many PCT hikers come through Stehekin?
the cost varies depending on the season. That can be seen online.
Fun fact: since they are inside the boundaries of the national park the residents of stehekin do not have to have driver's licenses.
I didn't know about the driver's licenses. We did notice the none of the cars had current registrations.
I miss the old original Lady Of The Lake.
Man the fire just reached there today..
I hate to think of the impact it's going to have on the area.
Is there a local bar?
We never went into the restaurant that is near the boat landing. Not sure if they have one, or at least would serve alcohol.
Sad to say I have lived within 50 miles of there for over 50 years and have never made the trip up the lake.
isn't that the way sometimes? I've wanted to go for many years and was able to finally put it together.
2 minutes into the video and no map. Where is the MAP?
Was this founded by Germans?
Go cougs
went on that slow boat in my youth. OMG.
Guess it proved boredom can't kill you. I'm still here.
Don't put young kids on that barge. ugh.
There is no tobacco in stehekin be forewarned
