    its very interesting! but im not sure.... what if uav is in bad vtx signal area&?- then you must manual add power of vtx... but if your uav is far away and try to return home on weak battery.... and logical switch turn vtx power on max.... bAttery will dead much sooner and uav will fall....

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are far away, it will already be on full power. The biggest problem is obstacles. However, if you are far far away with a weak battery, I’d say the VTx power are the least of your problems, and that the flight was poorly planned.

    • @MrD

      It’s coming. As well as a safety check for satellites, which should work better in future versions of iNav.

    This is great. I have a question for you. I had previously setup a switch on my transmitter using Powel's method under "OPERATION" LOW - MED - HIGH to control three settings on my VTX. One interesting point was made in his video about actual command that was sent to the VTX through smart audio was only sent one time, instead a continuous stream of commands, and this was a benefit of using the "low, med, high" Operation. Do you know if this is true with your 3d distance method, or if there is anything different? Just curious. Thanks for all your info!

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ll check Paweł’s video and see what he’s doing. I can’t really comment without taking a look.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve just checked Paweł’s video (th-cam.com/video/g3N7e_SHSwM/w-d-xo.html) and it’s just sending the command when the switch changes. The system is the same, only the logic for the switch is different. So I would assume from this that the command will be sent once, when the switch changes.

      @rscottwilson1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrD Hey, thanks for checking. I've got my FC programmed with your distance setup, waiting for a calm day to try it out! I really like that it will all happen automatically. Another big benefit of your setup is that when the plane lands at the end of flight, I don't have to worry about my VTX overheating at a high power level. Thanks!

    • @MrD

      This is for multi-power level VTx. It is to switch the power level based on distance. That hasn’t changed in years.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The logic should all be the same. I think it was adjustments that changed between 2.6 and 3.0. You're using the 3D distance from home right?

    Darren I have a question alittle off subject but I hope you can help, I just got a tbs unify pro v3 vtx to my surprise input power is 4.5v to 5.5v on the f405-wing fc according to manual vtx wires to uart 3 and camera to uart 5 problem is both these pads provide 9v which tbs says is too high. If I get the 5v from a different uart will I still be able to configure this in inav? As always Thanks

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Power pads aren’t associated with UARTs. Certain power pads are just put near to certain UARTs to make wiring up easier. The power for a VTx is usually near the VTx pad, and can be filtered in some cases. You could try using a 5v pad. Or you could use the 9v pad and add a step down converter to 5v. You just want to make sure that the signal doesn’t get unwanted noise.

    • @egtreadway4232
      @egtreadway4232 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh ok that's good news and will give it a try because I do have extra 5v pins, in inav I guess I should enable tbs smart audio for correct uart? Thanks again

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t matter what UART you connect SA to. Just set the UART number on the ports page, and it’ll be fine.

      Thanks Darren, this is first experience with fpv gear in past years I've always flew line of sight , waypoint missions or using yaapu scripts, I now have the tbs unify pro v3 and a AKK fx3 ultimate vtx so will start out with the unify pro. Just wondering if you have any thoughts on either of these vtx and maybe antennas preference? Thanks

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest, I’ve not used either of those VTxs. I have an older Unify Pro, which I’ve not used much yet. But I have a few AKK X2 Ultimates, which have worked well. With the AKK, make sure they get plenty of airflow, and don’t leave it sat around above 25mW for too long.
      As for antennae, I like VAS and TrueRC Canada. Which I use depends on the build. The foxeer lollipops aren’t bad. Also Lumenier have some decent antennae.

    Any need for VTX tables entered into Inav?

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, that’s a BetaFlight thing. The iNav developers aren’t keen on the concept, so I can’t see it being implemented either.

  • @ValleyFPV
    @ValleyFPV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for this.. I am moving from betaflight to inav and am used to the vtx table method assigned to a switch. It appears this is the inav equivalent to achieve the same end result? For me I plan to use a Pot or switch to change vtx power as that gives me control.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. You can just use a switch in iNav. This is for it to be automated based on your distance from home.

    What an absolute ball ache...why cant inav have the vtx table like betaflight, all done in 2 minutes.

    • @MrD

      This has nothing to do with VTx tables. This automatically changes the VTx power based on distance. VTx tables (which I personally think are a ball ache) don’t do this.
