I see people.. not just Subaru owners… Jeeps and Tacomas too.. with their vehicles all geared up.. that never venture farther than a Target department store or REI. Ditch lights that never actually shined a light into a ditch in the dark. Hope these folks got to use all their gear on this adventure. Looks like a fun day

@Pennsylvania Dual Sport how exciting! A new car just in time for Xmas. That was the same reason why I just went for the OB instead of the crosstrek. I knew I was going to outgrow it fast.

We take our Outback and Forester Touring on Forester and Logging roads, but Never serious off roading. Our private road to our house is considered a Forest road. We live in the mountains between Leavenworth and Wenatchee. We have to put our Subie’s into Xmode just to get up our road and into our garage during our winter months as we get 5-7 feet of snow and have to plow and maintain our road ourselves. If we’re in our pickup, once we leave the town and start heading further up the mountain, we’ll put our pickup into 4WD.

I have a question… I’d like to put a 2” lift on my 19 Forester Touring. Which one would be the best on a budget? Also what brand of Skid plates would y’all recommend? I take my Subie on Forester and logging roads, but I’d like to be more adventurous. My Subie has only 13K miles and I can’t afford to tear it up. Also what type of auxiliary CVT cooler would you recommend for my Touring?
As much as you like going offroad with your Subaru you should consider getting your vehicle prepped, and then sprayed with Line-X or the equivalent on all your surfaces. It will protect against scratches, etc., and make your car a lot more offroad capable in the fact that you won't worry about gouges in your paint, etc.

I would definitely recommend bash plates at least and a healthy dose of engine air filters and cabin filters nature dominates all at the end
