The reason I watch is because you are a young Victor Meldrew and now I’ve become old I to have become him, I wish they turned complaining and criticising into an Olympic sport, Gold medals for everyone 😂😂😂
Scottish person here . Perth being my local . scone in pronounced Scoon or Skoo-n. Oban is pronounced OBin not as in o-ban . Loch Leven is pronounced Loch “Leave in” sorry don’t know how else to explain without sending a voicemail 😂
Fair comment I’m a Fifer, I was just about to say the same on the Loch Livin. I’m totally on board with the pointless mong photos though…. Nae body cares 😂😂
I've had two vans, and they were both self-converted. I'm an ex-builder, and I like things built solidly, with real wood, and not the junk they make vans and motorhomes out of these days. Anything that's mass-produced on a factory assembly line is subpar these days.
I' have a Adria super sonic, had motorhomes for over 20 years I must be one of the lucky ones no rattles, squeaks, it's a 2014 think the older ones are better made
Adria are a better build, Slovenians obviously love there job's and build with passion ! Oh and Chris don't worry about the adblue as it get's better after 5-10K miles, same as oil consumption 🙏
That noise would drive me daft! The build quality is shocking and it does my head in. Those motor homes aren’t cheap. There doesn’t seem to be any quality control at all. How would those workers feel if they had to deal with those avoidable issues? Grrrrr Well done for keeping your cool.I am glad you are highlighting all the issues.
Re the shoes in the tree in Perth (I’m from Perth). The tree is next to the skatepark, the boys throw their shoes in the tree once they have worn them out! My sons both spent many hours/ days/ months/ years there and did the same!
Totally agree. Had a Chausson for 3 years and the build quality was dire. Changed this June to a Dreamer Living camper and it’s so much better quality. Hope you can sort all the niggles out 🤞🏼
Hi Chris, it was great speaking to you both at the NEC the other week. Just watching this video and you mentioned the ad blue light coming on when it’s half full. Our Fiat Ducato is exactly the same and it infuriates me. It also doesn’t last as long as our California. Also, I just topped up the oil, and on ours there is no dip stick, just on the dash. If you have the same be aware that the level on the dash may not reflect any additional oil added until you drive about 100 miles, so don’t keep topping up (only 200ml at a time). Have fun on the trip.
Definitely enjoying you owning the mid life moaning! Your easing into it nicely with an air of peaceful resignation! Its like watching myself. Still getting out and about to do active stuff, but enjoying the quiet roasting of others on campsites from the warm safety of my van (while the Mrs takes the mickey out of you). You even have the same self adhesive stick on anti rattle things that i carry everywhere. You definitely need to carry a comprehensive kit of adhesives, fixings, plumbing parts, electrical connectors etc (and definitely a spare water pump!!).
Hi Chris,my Chausson did the same with the kitchen splash back ,it’s so annoying but I stopped getting upset and fixed things myself. After 5 years I was still waiting for warranty claims to be resolved by the customer service director ,I currently have 5 to be sorted but I haven’t told them I’ve sold the motorhome, that’s how interested they are.If I didn’t chase them nothing happened, great videos showing we all have the same issues.
Hot needle and burning thread my mum would have said about the kitchen panel. I liked the idea of the mongs. I haven't heard that since I was a kid. My brother used say I was either a mong or a spaz.
Got loads of rattles and loose panels in my Swift Kontiki and have bought lots of double sided tape and will be sorting all the panels out in our van . Looks like all manufacturers are same . When I went to NEC show I looked in the new Swifts and they all had loose panels .
Hey guys, we’re new subscribers & loving the content you’re sharing, thanks. We bought a brand new Kontiki 894 twelve months ago and the built quality was shocking, so bad in fact I returned it to Swift themselves to correct all the faults!! You’re not alone with these issues, good luck anyhow with the new van guys 😃👍
Hi Chris, your Adblue issue, coukd be your Nox sensor playing up, I suggest you may need to do a regen so have a 20 minute blast in 3rd, ignore your engine screaming, the exhaust needs to get really hot to cause the regen.
Get some foam backed tape in various depths. Lexus used to use it when they first introduced the LS400 into the UK, they had kits just to remove any unwanted noise from the cabin...it basically cushions any rattles and is invaluable in any coachbuilt motorhome.
We parked up at the Glenshee Ski Centre. £6 per day + £2 to stay overnight. We had the whole carpark to ourselves. We love Farquarsons in Braemar. We often go in winter and enjoy a local beer by the log fire. A few years ago we were at the CC site in Moffat. We met a woman while out for a walk. She said "Ah, you're the couple in the dirty Elddis" 😅 Our new van is orange and doesn't show the dirt the same 😊
Love the van, shame about the teething problems with it. Im sure you will get it sorted. Also, can i suggest sorting the issue with the microphone, the audio while you are driving is barely audible, and defo get a mic for Dani. Keep the faith Chris!!
Had an Autotrail for a week. GRP cracks on the roof, returned to dealer. Then an Adria for a year. Good van, clearly better build than the Autotrail and no issues. Finally traded up to a Malibu. No issues in two years and it’s better built than the first two by quite some margin. They all rattle tho… some more than others but it’s a right pain in the rs rattling along our crqp roads. 😅
I would have been inclided to use double sided velcro for that wall board. You cound then have easier access in the future if you needed to remove it again
A can of expanding foam might help with these loose panels but probably not recommended if you access is going to be required at at some point in the future, just a few blobs would hold it and it maybe removable. That trim tape can stick things almost too well sometimes.
Ahhh, I know what you mean with the post, we make and sell 3D printed bits and bobs and we carry them in the van and seem to be for ever at the post office but I too like the personal touch of posting them. Happy travels.
After watching this last night in my truck just outside Oban (obin) I then heading down to Lockerbie with logs and as I was getting back into my truck at Abingdon services I saw you going past the front of my truck on your way out, gutted I didn't get to say hello 😂
ahhh you should have said hello! I thought i noticed someone in one of the lorries facing me staring but thought it was because id parked in the lorry bit while i went to a pee haha.
Did you see that big beechwood hedge as before you stopped to fix the kitchen rattle? There are great photos of how the villagers used to trim them before the invention of scaffolding etc
I recently bought an Adamo 754dl. Have nothing but problems, the sky light above the cab whistles really badly at 40 mile plus. The other one lets in the wind and the blind bounces around. The door lets in torrents of rain filling up the window and soaking the blinds. The master switch has been changed once already and still wont work properly. The heating duct came apart, the cooker is missing rubber stoppers, the light under the kitchen cupboards fell out, the floor creaks at certain Points, the draughts are awful when the wind blows, the blinds have plastic clips that dont work and fall off. Above the cab the shelfving unit is coming away from the ceiling and getting worse everytime I drive it. The reverse camera stopped working as I drove it off the forecourt. i unplugged it I got a shock. Its finally going in but they wanted to keep it for a week. I complained rather strongly so they will have to see whats needed and it will have to go back. Once it comes back I am changeing it as I dont trust that other things will break or go wrong. Very dissapointed as you obviously are. The electric bed also got stuck half way up and only because I was mad did the mechanic fix it. Lets see how long they take before all problems are fixed. Best to buy used van with low mileage that has all the problems sorted.
Your van was definitely built on a Friday by an unsupervised apprentice. I bought a compass castaway 20 odd years ago and had to have the bathroom floor replaced twice because the shower pan kept cracking and leaking and the roof leaked into the top cupboards where we kept clothes. There were other issues which I won't go into here but it's very disheartening. Enjoy your channel, keep up the good work. Watching from Orkney
One thing Fiat told me on my new Ducato was don’t let the add blu tank get below 50%. The service manager told me they can suck the sides of the add blu tank inwards.
I agree the build quality of newer vans especially is shocking. As for those who claim German vans are superior, in my opinion they’re all the same, Burstners & Defleffs etc are no better, it’s an industry thing & older vans seem to me to have been better built in many ways. Our current 2019 van isn’t a patch on our previous 2010 model by the same manufacturer for example.
On the subject of admission charges can we suggest that you Google historic houses, works similar to English Heritage/National Trust and can save you a small fortune, especially in Scotland.
But historic houses aren't open all the time and not all year. We belong to it and you have to do as many as you can in the Summer to make up for the cost of registration.
It may be worthwhile popping into Jewsons and buying a tube of sticks like shit turbo and a chaulking gun and some hand wipes. This stuff is brilliant and bonds / sets in 15 minutes. It sticks to most surfaces. This may be a simple solution to some of your build quality issues. Not that should need too.
We bought our Berstner in 21 and like you I’m not impressed with the so called German build quality, just placed an order for various broken bits . I intend to fit them myself as some of the authorised dealers don’t impress me either. Regarding rattles I was beginning to think it was only me after watching lots of TH-camrs who don’t appear to mention the rattles!
Recently following.. you seem to have gone from super positive to Mr Grumpy 😂… chin up I just order your books hopefully enough to buy some new clips and pads 😢… PS: have you actually weighed you Moho since those upgrades .. knowing you have more to do.. not sure what your payload / plate load is ..
If is new to straight to seller and blame for compensation....this is something common when come to camper production,to keep price low they use shitty material and assembled components
Those books look like an awful lot of effort for not a lot of return? Not criticising, just know you are very successful and would have made that money in a few hours in your past life.
It helps pay for at least some of the trip mate and I enjoy the photography and writing side so it’s worth it really. It is a bit like pulling teeth when we have a lot to ship on the road but at home it works fine
That makes sense man. How cool was that wall of trees? So high! I drove that road on Saturday with the wee man as we went to Inver and parked up before going to Balmoral. Tidy weekend away!
Subscribers don’t pay the bills. The books pay the bills. TH-cam helps get customers who buy books. Unfortunately everyone wants everything for free without consideration for the costs of time and equipment… if you’d rather watch power bank reviews instead of hearing a book advert then be my guest and find another TH-camr 👍🏻 if not, I’m sure a book advert which you can skip might I remind you, won’t be a huge issue for you.
Plus if an advert for my books which I make and support the channel is too off putting to win over your valuable subscription then I’d rather you didn’t subscribe in the first place. Your subscription doesn’t help me
@trevorhoward7169 downside of TH-cam mate it pays nothing really so considering this is my job now I need to make money elsewhere and the books put a dent in it at least. Appreciate you messaging back though and hope you understand why I shoe horn adverts into every video
@ yes, I totally understand now and feel embarrassed at my comment. I’m not supping up now but the books look good and I will definitely see if you have any left (at full price) when i visit Scotland next spring. Keep them coming it’s a good channel.
What a F-in joke. Mate you need to get to Marquis and get some sort of compensation, It’s like they’ve put the van together with lego. You’ve spent a fortune on a product that’s not fit for purpose, personally i would be wanting to change the van but i guess you’ve spent to much on upgrades. Good Luck with it

Calls “Sloanes Moans” Cracking me up this series mate 😂

@@Fuggybugs I suppose Loch Leven sounds a bit like Loch Leeven which could help Chris pronounce it easier
From Perth as well, I was going to say the same!
Loving the honesty, selfies, build quality and the comment was best of all "slap dash" 🤣🤣🤣

Exactly DIY is the way to go
We have also seen the houses built these days . Junk
I' have a Adria super sonic, had motorhomes for over 20 years I must be one of the lucky ones no rattles, squeaks, it's a 2014 think the older ones are better made

Definitely. My 2010 chausson is great build quality. Newer vans are just chucked together.

😂 A true ‘classic Chris Sloanes’ episode…Loved that mate! 🫶👊🏼
Iv been put off buying a motorhome for life, after watching your channel. Good luck with fixing the noise.

Whats ganna fall off next. Omg build on your van would of sent me mad. You are very patient. I'd end up sikaflexing the whole van . Great videos .
Another awesome show, you 2 guys should be on the Discovery Channel or even the comedy channel so funny loved it

Class video guys & so funny esp last few min “there my monster munchies 👍🏻😂
This van is the gift that keeps on giving.....well as far is content is concerned🤣🤣🤣.....and to think you purchased one of the better makes?
Good to see you both in Perth. Could have dropped off my book order 😂😂…. Keep up the good work - breath……!!😀

Hi Chris
Love the videos but when you’re driving along your mic goes really quiet :(
Yeah sorry about that. We noticed it too and trying to fix it at the min
Great video motorhome looks good but Chris new name slap dash so funny 😂😂its just a shame its falling apart
Probably my favourite video from you 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣… Oh the pose so funny ..
All new van builds seem to be rushed in construction . Id recommend buying a pre 2019 for better build quality.
I love the way you just moan and whinge over stuff and don't care what you say,at least it's just not me like that 🤣
Well I'm loving the moans
Hilarious. Keep up the good work. It's not moans it's just observations 😁

You'd think ‘what a tramp’ for having a card declined? That's harsh 😮
😂😂 just joking. It happens to me all the time
Buy German? We've had Hymer's (from new) that have been absolute dogs...the industry is shocking!
I Think it’s a rubber tree 😂
How about doing selfies with what you are eating. That is worst thing especially people who do the whole meal. Problem with new vans!!!
Kids being kids they are chucking someone else’s trainers up there
Ok I’ll bite, it’s pronounced scoon as in spoon.
@DoctorFish10 😂😂

Good Luck with it
You don't alf moan
🤣 you think you have it bad, I have to listen to myself moan for a solid hour while I’m editing my footage baxk
They would getting the van back with all this poor workmanship
Production line motor home building,.😢 Shame really
Slap happy I think you mean but yeah the care and consideration is nil . We as women get more so we all can share . That’s what I say anyway .🫶❤️🐾
