Just watched your vid, and it’s like Deja vu. I had a Burstner (3 years)with almost all the same issues. Door flyscreen rattles, numerous attempts to solve it by dealer, eventually in desperation I solved it by squeezing the channel together to reduce movement. Sky light fit, after many attempts they eventually (under warranty) replaced skylight to resolve it. Glove box fit was a simple adjustment. Squeak above head, dealer kept saying they couldn’t hear it, eventually agreed it was there but said it was on all coach built ( which I didn’t believe). Again in desperation I told them what I wanted them to do and agreed to pay 50% of cost if they did what I wanted. This ultimately resolved the issue (2yrs on ) they removed all the sealant between cab and coach fitted a small rubber seal to coach edge and resealed. Oh bliss, the silence was golden. Best of luck.
@@anyjimblogs with mine I just slightly elongated the fixing holes in the latch, moved it towards the gap side and tightened down. The gap evened up then I pushed latch back as far as I could to help it shut as tight as possible.
As with another commenter, I bought a Bailey Autograph. I had a huge list of complaints with it - even came with a dent in the drivers door from brand new! The PDI was obviously never carried out or they could have sorted a lot of things before I picked it up. It’s taken 4 years to get most things sorted, there was always an excuse about them being supplied with the wrong part, the wrong colour etc. It was usually with the dealer a week or two at a time but the last visit saw them holding on to it for 200 days, yes that’s not a typo it was TWO HUNDRED DAYS! It’s back now and probably 99% sorted but I’ll certainly never be back to Kimberley caravans.
The manufacturer normally bulk buys batches of tyres from wholesalers. When the tyres are fitted to the rims, it has been practice to over inflate the tyres so the tyre beads meet the rims. They are then shipped to the vehicle manufacturers who fit them to the vehicle and then ship them to the dealers. When sold, the dealer should carry out a pdi which includes adjusting the tyre pressures as per the vehicle handbook.
Hi Chris, I have caravanned and camped for over 50 years , I have always brought new , we got our first motorhome a year ago Bailey autograph ,the build quality is shocking, every time we go away something falls off or breaks, this weekend it was the fly screen hab door completely fell apart. The best bit was when I picked it up from new with in 5 miles all the sink draws were on the floor one completely of its hinges. My saving grace is my dealer (Reading caravan centre ) has been brilliant but I keep having to have the day off work and drive 40 miles to take it back. I have fixed most of the small stuff myself , I grew up with British is best Oh Dear!! Still it is what it is best of luck cheers bill
I almost got a Bailey and got talked out of it as I’d heart them and Eldis are shocking build quality. Not convinced at this point mine is much better. Only time will tell
@@ChrisSloanes just remember Chris its camping should we put up with it No But im old and grumpy you are young ,plenty of days like these Enjoy your moho Cheers Bill
I have the same problem with my Ducatto glove box Chris, will be interested to hear if there is a fix, glad your back making videos again - good luck with the repairs
Hi mate, I am on my 4th van in 5 years, 3 brand new....(1 am awaiting delivery of) and the issues i have had with all the brand new ones is rediculous.
Had 2 new Mohos and both had the overhead squeak. Both times found that is where the metal bulkhead meets the overhead shelf. Take off the valance and put pads between the metal and shelf, then pad the valance where it screws into the shelf. Sorted the issue for me.
It’s booked back in as the squeak has came back after a few hundred mile. I’ll let them know this see whether they can sort it using this technique instead. Thanks for the help
Hi Chris, just a quick comment, about 1/2 way through your video you mention the support (rubber stop and screw) falling out. Surely there should be a wood panel (sitting vertically) underneath there that's creates a storage area. This panel then also provides a more substantial support for the seat and not just the rubber stop
Glove box issue is common in all Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relays cabs. My van is the same and I have heard other van owners on YT also mention the issue.
I was very surprised when you went down the Fiat motor home route!Think the GC is an awesome piece of kit! Hope you work through the teething troubles ❤
Chris, you are missing some plastic clips on the flyscreen. They clip into the channel and around the frame holding it back. I have seen them used on other vans.
Thanks for this video. I was thinking that I've been unlucky with the van that I bought new four years ago, but judging by your experience and by the trials and tribulations reported in the comments, it seems that we're all the victims of motorhome manufacturers and/or dealers. These vehicles just seem not to be put together very well, and my experience is that the makers do not give an aviating (self-censored) for their customers. I wanted a short automatic van conversion with a toilet and shower, and decided to buy a British conversion with the notion of giving work to our lads rather than supporting an overseas economy. This led to the purchase of an Auto-Sleepers Symbol based on a Fiat 5.4 metre van. Auto-Sleepers are promoted as "Motorhomes of Excellence". If excellence means put together with all of the care and skill that saw off almost all of the old British car and commercial vehicle makers, then they've got it right. Without going into the minor issues (very serious rattles, fairly useless reversing camera and the like) there were serious faults that beggered belief. For one, the front passenger seatbelt sensor wire was threaded so that it was caught when the seat was rotated, so that it put the van into limp mode. For another, The outlet hose from the water heater was too long and fitted so that it was caught by the sofa when the bed was made up, leading to the hose being pulled off and flooding the underfloor space. Between them, these faults ruined two trips, though eventually I learned enough to be able to fix them myself, which was just as well, as there would have been a long wait for either dealer or maker to make good. Then we come to the van electrics. These are bought in from Sargent, a Yorkshire company. As a Yorkshireman this should be something to be proud of, but the units fitted to my van turned out to be somewhere between bad and awful. (To give Sargent their due, they do offer very good service during the short guarantee period, and offer continuing excellent technical advice.) The electrical system in centred around a main Power Control Unit and an intelligent integrated display and interface unit. Within two months the display/interface failed and all the van electrics except the fridge and step failed. This also meant no water or toilet flush as the pump was kaput. I couldn't get timely help from the dealer or from Auto-Sleepers, but Sargent were brilliant. They got a new unit to me in two days, which I managed to fit. Sargent asked me for the van's build number, then told me that the unit was from a batch that had a known software fault which would cause them to fail after short use, and that they had told Auto-Sleepers not to fit them well before that van's sale date. Finally, a fault in the Power Control Unit stopped the solar panel charging the batteries, a little before the van's third birthday. Only cure suggested was to replace the unit (five hundred pounds+) or remove it and send it off to Sargent for repair (around two hundred pounds and van unusable during repair period). With a bit of cunning and consultation with Sargent have found a workable bodge which connects solar panel direct to leisure battery, but will have to put hand fairly deeply into pocket and get unit repaired sooner or later. The real kicker is the guarantee. Auto=Sleepers give a three year warranty. Well, actually, they don't. The conversion is guaranteed for three years, but this is for the construction that they do only. All the bought in components are covered by their makers' warranties only. So the electrics are covered by Sargent's one year guarantee. If anything fails after that (and my experience is that it does), it's hands deep into pocket time. There seems to be little or no concern with customer care. When it comes to Auto-Sleepers, well, words fail me. The guarantee department is basically a cost control operation, slow to respond and concerned with finding reasons not to pay. (To Auto-Sleeper's credit, thier factory based service department is excellent, but they can only assist within the limits of the very limited guarantee.) 🎉 To anyone thinking of buying a new van I'd say, think very hard before buying an Auto-Sleeper, and whatever make you decide to go for, read the guarantee small print very carefully
the turnbuckle plastic lock for the roof .. simply undo slacken off the two screws attached to the roof pull down as they are on oblong slots .. tighten .. hey presto . roof sorted
Gutted for you mate. All these little issues take the shine off your new purchase. Hopefully you’ll get them sorted. We are looking forward to your adventures.
I've had coachbuilt motorhomes for 21 years now, and the problems you mention are pretty common. The front sky light is one designed originally for caravans, and at least one of the Baileys we borrowed whistled like crazy. The top blind vallances around the windows all seem to squeak. They can be improved with anti rattle tape. Maybe I've just got used to it all.
Yeah i thought they seemed to be as most people ive spoken to have similar issues. Its my first motorhome and id previously only had 2 other campervans so im still trying to figure out what is typical and what is just downright broken haha. I use the sticky rubber dots, what is anti rattle tape? ill have to go find out what that is
I think it’s important to remember that people trend to go online to complain, usually justified, but people that haven’t got issues don’t, so even though there are far too many problems about I suspect there are many more that are satisfied. I have a caravan and had very few minor issues and it’s a solidly built 2023.
We recently rented a Ducato van conversion 2024 and Grand California Cali was very nice to drive seat position and visibility good all good apart from tap sensor running the water pump so had to diy fix that, other than that all good over 800 miles. The immediate problem with the Ducato if you are tall like me 6ft 4, your eye level is the sunvisors you have to look under them to see through the windscreen 🤷🏻♂️ If I was buying I deffo remove the swivel seat mech on drivers side and drop the height level 👍 Over a weeks driving looking under the top of the windscreen was enough for me with the Fiat - more rattles than the VW more clips, locks are less durable Still a good base van the Fiat though
Had several vans in the 14 years we have been motorhoming inc uk autocruise, German Carthago, Adria, etc etc we moved to France bought a pilote G600 essential which was the first van we have had which gave us very little grief, 3 years later decided to downsize further to a camper van, after only being offered 6k euro less than what we had bought it for 3 years previously for £19k less than the same van in my dealer in the uk only difference my french pilote didn’t have an oven ???? Anyway we pushed the boat out and treated ourselves to a brand new Dethless globe trail on a Citroen jumper, camper van and it’s fantastic have had it a year just had our 1st Hab check we have in that year 2 - 3 week holidays in the south and southwest France + days out by the beach and the only thing we have had to do to it is put air in the tyres , superb vehicle comfortable bed easy to use ancillaries water / heating / cooking etc on button operation we love it and brand new €59k.
What can happen with habitation door fly screens is the hab door blows shut when the fly screen is closed, this can then damage the fly screen runners or mechanism. The runners may have bent with this, leaving it very loose in the middle. Difficult to be sure, but I saw this on another motorhome.
For a year and a hundred thousand miles, we delivered factory RecreateVehicles manufacturer-to-dealers and dealers-to-shows. That limited time convinced us to build instead of buy. . 2003, we built our ExpeditionVehicle. Over two decades full-time live-aboard. Twenty-four months twenty-four thousand miles around South America. Alaska Panama all over North and Central America. Summers up rough logger tracks to remote mountain lakes. Winters on isolated Baja beaches. . On the rural roads we prefer, a factory RecreateVehicle would rattle to dust the first five minutes.
Seems a lot Motorhomes are very crashy on the front. I think they come with the normal standard springs on the front and makes them a bit nose down and wrong spring rate for the weight. Going to upgrade my front springs which from what i have read, also improves the ride and reduces the crashy front end, as well as All terrain tyres to run a lower pressure with stronger side walls. I’ve also been on a sound deadening mission on mine to quieten down the drive, particularly up the front, double up on doors seals , sound deadening material, extra insulation around that front section. a lot of noise also from roof vents, made up an insert for when driving to reduce the noise. Also Vehicle battery box lot of road and engine noise comes up, you may also not have a middle under tray.
Unfortunately all those little squeaky noises and rattles are in all motorhomes. I got rid of loads by standing in the living area whilst my wife drove round a private industrial estate with enough pot holes to shake your teeth out. Think i found 22 issues of noise and now got probably 3 which i don't know what to do with. 😊
Chris, look above the drivers and passengers seat, on the shelf above there possibly could a bolt in each corner which look like a TV fType connector. these hold the shelf to the cab. Tighten them up slightly to remove the squeak. I also believe the glove box is a warranty issue with Fiat. Ours is the same on our Peugeot cab.
We got rid of our Chausson motorhome for a Dreamer Living campervan due to the fact of the dreadful build quality plus was falling apart. 3 years old with 4,250 miles. Expected a lot more tbh. The build of the Dreamer is so solid and glad we changed to it. We do have the 9speed auto on 180 bhp engine just to rub it in 😉🤣👌🏽
Went for the Knaus, German made and German quality, VW Crafter base vehicle.......24 registration and as of yet zero problems, no rattles, tight as a drum.
Pretty normal stuff for a coach built on a ducato chassis. The whole industry in general gives no consideration to NVH in design or build , careful assembly and smoother base chassis do help a lot. However once the worst quality issues are fixed its live with it or sell up.
concerning the habitation door , turn the key half a turn then come back in via the front seats ,,the lock location on rotation will solve that problem ..but not the adjustment issue obviously
Good luck with the issues mate. Inside of the van looks nice. Presumably with that big rear living area, do you lose any garage? Enjoyed the vid, hope you get sorted.
Shame you’re having issues with the van. We have an autotrail Delaware and doesn’t matter how much you sound proof all the pots and pans, the body of the van creeks unfortunately ,but you’re new van is bad, hopefully you will get it sorted soon. Good luck 🤞 👍
If it’s anything visable it’s the camera warp stabilising if I’m honest. I noticed it when I was editing the camera was struggling with the tracking I had on it
Was at camper salon Germany recently. The Mobilvetta stand was extremely busy with people ordering. They look great but build quality is questionable. Bit like booking Vegas and landing in Butlins. Check out the Laika brand. Italian.. now owned by Hymer Group
Reading all the comments, seems that most people have multiple issues with new motorhomes. It’s just not good enough considering the price of these things! Think I’d hand it back. My brother has owned numerous new motorhomes and now owns a new Adria motorhome, seems happy with it…at the moment.
You do know that when you buy a new MH you are doing the quality control that should have been done at the factory? All MH manufacturers expect the customer to find the issues and then the dealership to pickup the pieces. This is called kicking the can down the road...
Hi Chris and greetings from New Zealand. We bought a new Swift camper last year and in addition to the next to useless dealer, I was horrified at some of the poor manufacturing issues we had to resolve. Some were very minor such as just poor cleaning out of saw dust and swarf from the van build but other things like reversed hot/hot supplies on the shower and loose or poorly secured fittings was so disappointing. Not what you'd expect on a $170k discretionary spend. manufacturer's and dealer need to do a lot better. You'd never tolerate it from a new Toyota would you?
I was really wanting to purchase a new or pre-registered motorhome, but after watching how many problems you are encountering, I don’t know how you can stay so calm after spending the kind of money these cost. I would be going crazy, as this should never happen, especially when buying from a dealer. They should have spotted some of the problems you're facing. If I were you, I would hand back the keys to the van and keep your VW. Anyway, great video, mate
Welcome to the world of coach built vans, the manufacturers use the customers as their Quality control dept, ie let them find all the problems and fix it afterwards if they make a fuss! Buying one, although i love it, was my worst consumer buying experience in my 56 years! Next time, when and if i could afford it, i will try to go luxury end and ensure the selling dealer is very very close to me or buy direct from Germany as i have no doubt the buying experience would be better!
Bailey Hickey Roof windows are notorious for leaking. Please remember that you still have consumer rights. See Consumer Rights Act 2015 Contact trading standards for advice. Do not try to fix anything yourself incase it nullifies your warranty. In future always carefully video all around a vehicle ask for the use of a ladder to video the roof. Record Conversations with the dealer. When buying secondhand goods always ask and record “Did the previous owner get rid of this vehicle because of any faults?” Record the replies. Keep those recordings and videos.
Christ I keep thinking of changing our Crafter conversion but you've put me right off , hope you get sorted it's off putting when your spending what you have on a new motorhome , I keep looking at a Knaus a class but I don't know Cheers Chis.
Chris great video first of all your a perfectionist and there`s nothing wrong with that but the motorhome needs to be right I would think the dealership and we have one near us unfortunately doesn't have a good reputation this hasn't been checked over for it to be in this state But probably another lesson may be never buy an ex demonstrator for this reason I mean my comments in good faith and hope it gets sorted
All RHD models have a very basic glovebox cover and it's a lottery on how it will fit. LHD Ducatos have a different glovebox cover which fits correctly. Same thing for sunvisors, LHD have a vanity mirror but RHD don't.
All vehicle manufacturers over inflate Tyres during the build process and then leave them like that for storage purposes to prevent flat spots developing. As part of your pre delivery inspection pressures should be altered accordingly. Obviously the dealership you purchased from overlooked this which could have caused a nasty accident.
My only advice to you is make sure the dealer has all the parts in stock and has the manufacturers approval to all the items on your snag list. Drive mine 75 miles on 4 occasions assured by the dealer that all my list would be cleared in one go only to collect it and only half the stuff on the agreed list had been done. My dealer was shocking and always blamed it on the manufacturer
How coincidental is this vlog. We picked our brand new MH up on the 7th September and we had our first weeks trip away on the Friday 13th. We have a huge list of issues ranging from habitation door fly screen detaching. One of the two leisure batteries getting very hot and having to be disconnected, toilet leaking etc etc we have a few things on the snag list. Do these expensive pieces of kit get a pdi? We have just arrived home so the list will be going into the dealer tomorrow. Just disappointed.
Definitely some numpty at the dealership read the scale on the pump and thought it was percentage, not PSI. Probably felt bad that they couldn't get them 100% inflated! 😂
I was about to sign for that exact model but went home to think it through ! I , hand on heart, could not pay the money because the build quality was really poor compared to our IH Motorhome van. I hope you get sorted and all is well. The layout is spot on.
I went with my dad to test drive a Elddis Accordo 105 and the noises it made were mental, my dad said to the sales bloke it was like driving a washing machine on spin and they just come back with 'all motorhomes rattle' 😅 Then test drove a Roller team t-line 740 and it made no noise what so ever, hes still undecided on a motorhome or a van orientated 1
I bought a new Roller Team 100 in 2011 (Ford Transit based) I still have this van and it has been faultless after near K80 miles. The 2.2 engine is chain drive and is totally reliable (38mpg) If I did need service parts for the Transit they are cheap and easy to get! (I would not buy any van with Adblu and will wait for a new E.V. van that can do at least 300miles on a charge!
Is that a drop down bed at the front? if so lubricate the runners with silicone spray it happens all the time on our F62 so we lube it every time we go out and it solves our squeaking issue. Many boards used to span the voids for the travel seats are too thin and light so the screws have nothing to purchase on so a good bit of 1/2 inch ply and make some new stronger ones, they may be heavier but will not collapse with normal use.
Did the dealership not give you a copy of the PDI. Personally there is no way on earth the dealershipdid a PDI. I would put all the faults in writing to the dealership outlining what you expect them to do and time scale for them to carry out. You also have consumer rights to reject the motorhome because the faults where clearly there from the day you took ownership of the motorhome if that's the way you want to go. Dosent give you much trust in the dealership that's for sure
We have new Mobilvetta Kea 90.2 I will follow with interest how Marquis resolve the issues. I part ext a Bailey Autograph and found Mobilvetta much better put together we also have had Benimar Mileo part of the same Trigano group much better build than Bailey. Agree the new Fiat is a great drive the electric handbrake and digital read out on the dash for mph is great .
Skylights above the cab in vans and motorhomes is just a thoroughly bad idea. Fine in a caravan but nearly always disastrous in a van. I rented two models this summer with these fashionable skylights and each needed copious amounts of Bluetac stuffing along all of the edges to prevent mind numbing rattling.
Not impressed, I have. Ford transit custom high top based camper and didn’t have one issue or fault in over 7700 miles driving in Scandinavia earlier in the year.
concerning the noise from the cab when driving . its the plastic trim on the outside . the body of the fiat base is narrower than the rear the plastic trims which soften the look for aero dynamics move and flex whilst on the move . just stop and push them about . that noise travels thro the bodywork giving you the impression its on the inside
My fiat ducato was rated at 74 psi but found the ride very hard I had been using lower pressures with no adverse effects, depends how much weight you are carrying.
The glove box issue ! I have the same issue from new on my 21 Burstner, tried adjusting without any success.Three years on and things are starting to break , it was post lockdown Moho . Re Fiat base my only gripe is the handbrake position , you need gorilla arms.
Tyre pressures. I am fickle with tyre pressures because they are in my mind the most important part of any vehicle. They affect so many different conditions and most motorists ignore them. I used to live in the Scottish Highlands so I had everything to use at home, like a quality tyre pressure gauge and 12v tyre inflator. So your question, seeing as I inflate my tyres for winterizing to 45psi, it is my guess.
Iv got a Benimar primero, had nowt but issues from the start. These motorhomes are just poorly built these days. Is what it is. Iv got a toolbox in the vehicle because I’m constantly fixing issues.
Yeah i feel that its the way literally everything goes now. Presumably since everyone buys then wants new stuff pretty quickly in this consumer world we have created, build quality can suffer and we buy them anyway haha. How long have you had it? I think ill end up in a similar position to be fair.
@@ChrisSloanesIv had it around 1 year now mate. Bought mine from the same place as you down birtley. Iv had it back in about 20 times since Iv bought it. I was going to go for the grand cali as an upgrade from my cali coast. Kind of wish I had done now

Service has been great, ability to fix the problems have been some what ok. My worry is when the vehicle warranty is out and the problems are still persisting. I do miss the quality of a VW build though. I loved mine. Practicality of the motorhome is fantastic mind. I think Iv last you a few times near the board inn. Small world mate
If it got problems now what’s it going to be like in 12 months take it back and get your money back, this motor home is going to be nothing but problem. Build your own
Hi we had the same door sorry to say it will keep happening my husband has stripped the door 3 times my advice would be to try and get a different door especially with the kids my grandsons 4yrs and 5yrs broke most things on our van they are not child friendly thankfully we have now sold that one
I’ve had 5 Swift caravans from new 2 completely fault free and 3 with minor little things quickly rectified by my dealer with help from Swift. Sorry you had bad experiences with yours.
Before you spend lots of money trying to make it off grid capable check your payload you might get a shock , every mod adds weight and in my opinion those type of vans are simply not designed for off grid
First thing to do is REJECT THE VAN then allow them one go at fixing. If not fixed give them the keys back. Not of satisfactory quality. The sad thing is seeing where you bought it from but the same everywhere there won’t be a competent engineer to sort anything. Just botch.
The Glove box is the same for all Ducatos. Some are worse than others, like yours, but they are all pants. Ducato suspension is known to be firm. If yours is still hard after reducing the pressures in the tyres, the front suspension transport inserts could have been left in. They fit around the springs of the suspension high up. I have an Elddis CV40 panel van conversion, tyre pressure 69, 69 ;) wont forget that one. Purchase "Mirror Guards", don't get the cheap ones, the good ones are around £140. You will thank me if you do it. Water leaks into the engine bay past that long seal under the wiper blades that goes along the whole front windshield. You need to seal it with something, I used a load of silicone grease that I had. If you don't, water will leak past the seal onto the top of the engine and corrode the injectors & glow plugs over time.
I will give you 6 months. That skylight above your head could always be an issue. They look good but also look like they could leak at anytime on a heavy rainy day when driving. I hope the Dealer is not too far each time you have to go back with it. Dont think this will be the last time.
Watching the video you’re drivers door seem to vibrate or is it just the video? Have to ask why was the seat belt cover missing has this area been removed to investigate or fix the problem you’ve mentioned about noise? Check video while you was driving the door to me seems to vibrate maybe it was the camera focusing
I think it’s the camera a lot of the visible movement as it seems to have a bit of a strange movement to the footage on the sides. I generally drive like a little chav with my arm on the window bit and have never felt any movement
Read my review kimberley caravans darlington 100,000+ views. Caravan and motorhome dealers don't care anymore it's just a money game. New caravans are not well built anymore
Well…. With some van you get lucky. With some unfortunately not. Our previous K-Yacht was a real yacht 🛥️. Just a month a go we got a new one with a lot of small issues. Pain in the ass. But the dealer is serious and close to our home. They actually solve the problems regularly…. After some months will be just perfect. The problems are not about one brand . It’s actually problem of all manufacturers. They use the same parts…. Hope you get problems solved and start to enjoy the weekends with beautiful van you have.

Suppose I don’t have any proof other than me saying it though so be hard although I did warn them in case it’s something that’s broken on their machine etc. definitely dangerous
A lot of companies threw the vans together during and after covid to satisfy demand 😢 very greedy of them it was a case sell it and sort it later bad workmanship is hard to put write it needs to be stripped out and start again, auto sleeper never had that problem they stayed true to themselves and biult to order not demand 😊😊
To be honest spending that sort of money you wouldn’t expect any problems coming from that dealer ,I would spend time checking everything with a fine tooth comb and no money exchanged till I was 100% happy even if it means walking away important lesson learned. A great video showing the perils of buying a motor home 👍👍👍
We had the squeak above our heads in the cab. Different surfaces rubbing together when driving. We spray silicone spray around where the surfaces meet and it eventually cured it.
The Manufacturers don’t care! We gave up Caravanning because of the poor build quality in the Swift Caravans. The doors were rubbish, Screws fell out, sink leaked, Bed and seat bases had slats missing, Window blinds were damaged, shower leaked, kitchen sink was cracked, The gas had a leak we had to get a gas fitter to fix it, The breaks screeched and the Jockey wheel kept disengaging and much more. This was our third Caravan NEVER AGAIN! They have a cheek asking for £35,000 worth of rubbish. I feel sorry for you Chris Cosmetically your van is stunning. But the stress those issues cause is of the scale. Take care and all the best.
Main stream caravans and motor homes are design over substance, as I said on an earlier comment it will do your head in . Don’t forget you can return it time is ticking tho , Try and forget and enjoy.
Why does that plastic around the window on the driver's side look like it has a pokey broken part sticking out of it? Did I miss you saying that is broken, or how it got broken? We decided against a diesel when so many countries are passing laws against allowing them to use certain zones.
I couldn’t see properly but the window above the front seats looked like it was on vent as the twist clips go on the top and not in the middle to close it properly. Have you tried it with full water as most vans drive much better when fully loaded
It drives fine now the tyres are as they are meant to be. I do agree though it will be smoother again when it’s laden. I’ve been running it with about 50% water up to now but I’ll be filling it for each trip once I get it back
Even the manufacturers tyre pressure may not suit the best so a bit of experimenting will help no end. I’ve found mine to be the best at 65 psi and full water. 👍
Mobilvetta look really nice , bit they are compared tocthe german stuff or even the genuinely premium Italian nrands very much style over substance sadly, used to be ace before trigano swallowed them up
So, truth: Would you buy another factory RecreateVehicle? . On forums such as IRV2, owners complain, then purchase the next year's model, convinced all the bugs are fixed. Nope. So, they purchase another identical rig, but that is merely another duct-taped bailing-wire mess cobbled together with bubble-gum and wishes. . Nice decals.

@@ChrisSloanes just remember Chris its camping should we put up with it No
But im old and grumpy you are young ,plenty of days like these
Enjoy your moho
Cheers Bill
I have the same problem with my Ducatto glove box Chris, will be interested to hear if there is a fix, glad your back making videos again - good luck with the repairs
Hi mate, I am on my 4th van in 5 years, 3 brand new....(1 am awaiting delivery of) and the issues i have had with all the brand new ones is rediculous.
Also, squeak above the cab when driving, the bit is called the "Valance" and the cause is not enough bond to hold it down
But you keep on buying them!!!!
@@SB-hr5yr I know. Must be mental
This panel then also provides a more substantial support for the seat and not just the rubber stop
believe it or not mate the rubber stop is all that supports it. THeres no legs or anything to fit simply a screw coated in rubber.
Glove box issue is common in all Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relays cabs. My van is the same and I have heard other van owners on YT also mention the issue.
Yes we have the same issue.
(To Auto-Sleeper's credit, thier factory based service department is excellent, but they can only assist within the limits of the very limited guarantee.)
🎉
To anyone thinking of buying a new van I'd say, think very hard before buying an Auto-Sleeper, and whatever make you decide to go for, read the guarantee small print very carefully
the turnbuckle plastic lock for the roof .. simply undo slacken off the two screws attached to the roof pull down as they are on oblong slots .. tighten .. hey presto .
We recently rented a Ducato van conversion 2024 and Grand California
Cali was very nice to drive seat position and visibility good all good apart from tap sensor running the water pump so had to diy fix that, other than that all good over 800 miles.
The immediate problem with the Ducato if you are tall like me 6ft 4, your eye level is the sunvisors you have to look under them to see through the windscreen 🤷🏻♂️
If I was buying I deffo remove the swivel seat mech on drivers side and drop the height level 👍
Over a weeks driving looking under the top of the windscreen was enough for me with the Fiat - more rattles than the VW
more clips, locks are less durable
Still a good base van the Fiat though
We do have the 9speed auto on 180 bhp engine just to rub it in 😉🤣👌🏽
The warped glove compartment issue on a Ducato is a common problem, it can’t be adjusted you’ll need a new one.
Wow! 96/94psi!!! CP tires are rated to 80psi max and 65psi is much better on my 3.8 ton Fiat.
Went for the Knaus, German made and German quality, VW Crafter base vehicle.......24 registration and as of yet zero problems, no rattles, tight as a drum.
Crafter size just not big enough for us. We’ve just replaced the grand California so needed to upside
@@ChrisSloanes I should have said, it's not a van conversion it's a coach built Motorhome 7m.
Pretty normal stuff for a coach built on a ducato chassis. The whole industry in general gives no consideration to NVH in design or build , careful assembly and smoother base chassis do help a lot. However once the worst quality issues are fixed its live with it or sell up.
Anyone buying a new motor home should realise that ownership is the final phase of production, good luck.
concerning the habitation door , turn the key half a turn then come back in via the front seats ,,the lock location on rotation will solve that problem ..but not the adjustment issue obviously
The flex in the body behind you while your driving along is crazy think Aidan was right rattle box 🫣
Blind on the fly screen should have a tie back.
Those noises is the main reason why we went for a different option rather than coach build
Don’t beat yourself up on the handover and potentially missing stuff. There are huge amounts to process and you are bound to miss things.
Chris great video first of all your a perfectionist and there`s nothing wrong with that but the motorhome needs to be right
I would think the dealership and we have one near us unfortunately doesn't have a good reputation this hasn't been checked over for it to be in this state
But probably another lesson may be never buy an ex demonstrator for this reason
I mean my comments in good faith and hope it gets sorted
Hope they get it sorted ….. those issues should have been rectified before you drove away
Also re tyre pressure , my van is 4500kg so tyre pressures are 5.5bar so like you I find the ride a little harsh on A or B roads , motorways fine.
Just proves you should check pressures and levels on a regular basis
Shouldn't the dealer have done a full PDI before you even picked it up? Poor service imo.
Hi Chris I'm in australia how much is the incinerater toilet thankyou we love your Chanel
@john,
That is unrealistic.
For the first couple-three years, the factory assemblers expect the purchaser to camp in the parking-lot of repair-shops.
I was about to sign for that exact model but went home to think it through ! I , hand on heart, could not pay the money because the build quality was really poor compared to our IH Motorhome van.
I hope you get sorted and all is well. The layout is spot on.
I went with my dad to test drive a Elddis Accordo 105 and the noises it made were mental, my dad said to the sales bloke it was like driving a washing machine on spin and they just come back with 'all motorhomes rattle' 😅
Then test drove a Roller team t-line 740 and it made no noise what so ever, hes still undecided on a motorhome or a van orientated 1
Once you have driven your new van fully loaded, if it is sluggish consider a remap to 180bhp with Quantum. It will make it drive like your Audi
Did you buy it from Lowdhams
Yeah they were more than double that when I collected it! Could have blew out very easily!
Do you run 45 psi on a motorhome or campervan?

How’s the service been? They been fine with me so far to be fair.
Thought I recognised a forces smoothed over northern accent in your videos.
Oh no!! gutted for you! Keep the Grand
Even though it’s an ex demo the dealership should have PDI’d it. Unbelievable tyre pressures there
If it got problems now what’s it going to be like in 12 months take it back and get your money back, this motor home is going to be nothing but problem. Build your own
Looking forward to what you think when it’s back. All other comments don’t paint a good picture for m’homes😳
Just botch.
Swift mohos have skylight issues too. Never recalled by swift but known issue.
Luckily its about 10 mins drive but im hoping its not too often but i suspect it could be
Watching the video you’re drivers door seem to vibrate or is it just the video?
Nor are motorhomes/campervans!
This is really putting me off buying a motorhome!, are all pre delivery inspections as bad as this ?. They obviously dont care as much as car dealers
I think it’s partially that or maybe that there’s so many things that could go wrong in a motorhome or Campervan
@@ChrisSloanes thanks, btw loving your content, only found you yesterday. My wife and I are looking to get a motorhome for trips down to Spain next winter as we are also looking to retire. She's Austrian so is missing winter sun that she used to get in the Alps !. Now there's a place to visit Chris, Austria at Christmas, the kids would love it
Would want new tyres if they've been at 96psi to be honest, they're not designed for that pressure.
Suppose I don’t have any proof other than me saying it though so be hard although I did warn them in case it’s something that’s broken on their machine etc. definitely dangerous
@@ChrisSloanesProbably over inflated expecting it to stand unused for a long period, then never adjusted at pdi.
Christ got me worried now , we are picking up our new campervan on Friday 😬
Only 34psi off with my guess! I didn't realise vehicle tyres could go so high.
A lot more weight in commercial vehicles, high PSI is normal. 60-70 is not unusual, but 94 definitely excessive!
It’s hard to justify these vans… Perhaps better to stay in expensive hotels, and camp when it’s nice !
I hope they gave you lots off the price for being a demonstrator vehicle
We decided against a diesel when so many countries are passing laws against allowing them to use certain zones.
thats where the latch for the privacy screens sits when in the closed position
Take detailed photos / videos timestamped before drive away next time?
I couldn’t see properly but the window above the front seats looked like it was on vent as the twist clips go on the top and not in the middle to close it properly. Have you tried it with full water as most vans drive much better when fully loaded
It drives fine now the tyres are as they are meant to be. I do agree though it will be smoother again when it’s laden. I’ve been running it with about 50% water up to now but I’ll be filling it for each trip once I get it back
Yes, it looked like it was on the wrong setting and not shut properly.
Even the manufacturers tyre pressure may not suit the best so a bit of experimenting will help no end. I’ve found mine to be the best at 65 psi and full water. 👍
Reject it.
Good luck :)
Mobilvetta look really nice , bit they are compared tocthe german stuff or even the genuinely premium Italian nrands very much style over substance sadly, used to be ace before trigano swallowed them up
just goes to show you that money cannot buy happiness. i got my 30 year oldtimer camper and have had zero issues for 4 years
i dont think it shows money cant buy happiness like although you are correct. I think it shows the drastic drop in build quality!
@@ChrisSloanes nobody cares about us it is all superficial information that you base you life on and even your loved ones.
So, truth:
Would you buy another factory RecreateVehicle?
Guessing you're south of the Wear, maybe Murton?
Nah not quite but i am south of the Wear. I live in Durham
