Oil changes are a feeling type thing if you care about the engine. But you have to care. If it says every 4K, you do it 3K because in the end you know you're getting more life out of the bike but it depends on how you ride it. If you don't work your bike hard and granny ride it, then fine wait, but if you are hard on it, change it sooner. I the bike is new, change it sooner. Give it time to break in past 5K and even up to 10K. Most people don't treat cars and bikes with much respect which is why they have problems. Manufacturers make bikes to last, but they don't engineer them to take abuse. Change the oil.
How you change your oil also matters for those who might have not known. You want your engine at operating temps when you drain your oil so that it drains faster and the debris from your engine will be carried with the oil better.
For some reason some people think you should wait till it's cold just so you don't get burned, but if someone is scared of touching hot oil, they should just let someone else work on their vehicle lol
@@HODGYMOTOI think it’s funny you find 3k miles to be particularly often personally. Given the number of bikes I have and the short riding season where I live, I end up changing at less than 3k and have been for 20yrs. My Grom won’t go more than 1k miles before a change

How often is the oil change? How many kilometers?
my crf300l service manual says every 8k miles and a new oil filter every 16k. i change the oil and filter every 5k
I change my oil every 3k MILES I am not waiting 8k or even 16k for either. We can have a contest to see who's engine last longer

3k miles is standard for motorcycle. That's not special.
@@sclark1701 yet my manual apparently says every 8k miles and 16k for filter? I'd say I'm still correct in saying that it's often
My oil stays clean longer bc I change my oil often xD
Lol
