Gday everyone and welcome back. It has been highly requested that i make another bait vs lure fishing challenge. so i did. I decided to put up the ProLure clone prawns, and the tweed bait servo prawns, in a head too head battle too see what could catch more fish. The final results and outcome of the video are worth sticking around to the end for!!

Hahah I often get the fish analogies wrong. But over time you can start to pick up patterns and the different ways the fish fight👍🏼

Josh, I love your channel. You are already a far more perceptive angler than I ever was. You may already know this, but when I use servo prawns, I always peel them to stop fish from tearing the head/tails off. My grandma taught me that...tight lines, mate.

Another awesome production Josh….I would love to see you visit that location once the water clears to see what structure was in front of you. Bream can be crazy aggressive. I've landed bream with baits the same length as them.

Just a tip for circle hooks is that the fish don’t hook themselves but when you get a bite you just reel and that hooks them and if you set the hook you can pop the hook right out of there mouths

Those were some nice flattys! When I go fishing for bream and other fish I usually use chicken! Definitely recommend! And great vid!

Terrific video and catches Josh!! That big flattie was a beauty.
I think the lures performed so well due to your expertise in using them plus how realistic they looked!
It helped that you were in constant contact with the rod when using the lure and could feel the touches and time the strike too.
The bait got plenty of interest, but reduced hookups due to not holding on to the rod IMO and setting the hook.
Impossible to compare both at the same time really unless you were fishing with someone else with equal skills at the same location etc.
It still made for a great video and your enthusiasm, skills and editing are all top shelf!

Insane hooks on the bait. I usually go size 5-8 when using prawns. Or most baits. Smaller hooks usually work better I’ve found
Josh didn’t specify what he was using them for so he thought he was using live mullet so he gave him the demon circles
Great video prawn are my favorite bait to use you can try to rip off the head of the prawn and catch a fish This method I been using of 7 years.great vid josh
That first cast is why I prefer lures! 😅 I loose too much bait!

Nice flattie...Bit unfair on the bait though...using a Mustad long bait holder and threading the prawn along it to make it more realistic and holding the rod so you can set the hook...would have caught more...just as your always in touch with a lure...my best fish a 80cm flattie was caught on bait using the above method...again a great video to watch...cheers.

Hey Josh, Ive been starting to watch your videos and I’m loving it! However I was just wondering if you could make a video on how to start lure fishing in saltwater nsw and which lures to start with, I’ve been bait fishing for around 6-7 years now but only tried a tad bit and then gave up. Cheers and keep up the good work
Nice vid Josh good job. The only time I use mono is surface lure fishing. Fluro carbon line sinks so it pulls down on the front of the surface lure, this doesnt happen with mono.

Hey josh a tip when your using prawns. You can take the tail off the prawn and peel the tail and hook it from the tail end through to the other end. FYI: you don’t have to do this. Just a tip

Josh I love your channel, just a tip with the bait prawns, try peeling them. It gets your hand stinky and it takes a bit but the reward is soooo much better.
Great video. Good circle hooks. Invest in a rod holder. With dirty water bait has a big advantage. With the lures you need to be moving them, that sauce is good. Rather than loosening your drag. Consider a baitrunner for bait fishing

Hey Josh with the prawn baits one tip pinch the head of the prawn and pull it so the head and poo line come out it it’s more better for the hooking of the fish

mate, that lizard was enormous! just a hint for bait fishing. be more active. you can almost work those prawns like lures...soaking it doesnt cover much area. :) keep at it, love your work!

As for the circle hook they do work well, you ideally need a rod holder and have a set drag. Try some chicken or mullet strips next time with them they go good.
Hey Josh 👋 next time try using the same jig head for both baits. Can’t help but think things would have been closer if you had the same hook working for you. One things for sure, your spot holds fish - can’t go wrong either way.

Thankyou for the excellent content mate! Circles are a great hook when you are after the legal fish, I use them on live nippers to avoid gut hooking the junior specimens when the pickers are around....you miss some fish but that's the idea. Any greedy little ones are majority jaw hooked for a good release. It is hard to change striking behaviour to passive pressure but that is the key. Again cheers for the vids. 👍👌

Very interesting video ! Loved the tone and the catches, but please don't be one of those guys who don't mind the fish they kill. If you kill a fish (it happens to the best of us all !) don't throw it away, keep it and use it. Ans most of all keep fishing and doing cool videos ;)

The thing with lures is it completely depends on the target species. This time there were flatties and they love to ambush. I’m surprised you caught so many on this particular plastic as I’ve used it with no luck. It smells of cheap plastic. In my opinion and personal experience plastics like Keitech and rapala crush city are better because they’re pre-scented and ACTUALLY smell for days. I add S-factor too but I’ve noticed they’re unreal.
