To everyone who’s saying the drone is “cheating” please understand that I would catch these fish either way, I’m simply doing it for YOUR entertainment and to show how these beasts hunt! I actually catch less fish when I’m using the drone, I spook so many flathead while looking at my screen, they are also harder to spot then you’d think and when you do spot them a lot of the time they get spooked in the process.

Nev, I'm an experienced photographer and fisherman so I am impressed by what you have done. You operate three cameras, a drone, a kayak and fish - all successfully. That's serious multi-tasking. I wouldn't bother defending yourself to anyone.
Not cheating at all mate, its an extra dimension to the entertainment value. I love it. You do your thing and let them do theirs.

The best clip you have ever done? It's the best fishing video ever done by anyone. Using the drone to find your fish and then film a surface take is incredible, Nev. Watching those two big flatties come up to that lure was exciting stuff.

Great stuff Nev. I've been fishing for fifty years and I must say its one of the best things Ive ever seen. Its interesting how the Flattie sees the lure and then quickly jumps forward to an ambush spot and then hits. Truly epic stuff mate.

Great footage Nev, you are onto something here. Nice to see the take, it’s the most exiting part, and to release them in great condition as well especially on these big girls is great to see. Keep up the fantastic footage it’s something a lot of us would love to do but due to work and family commitments it’s a bit hard getting out there. YES NEV I need more, so cool seeing where fish hold and how they follow lures on the retrieve. Borrowed the old mans drone to go have a gander myself.
Nearly 40 years ago I was a young bloke that pretty much killed everything he caught. Then one day I caught my first flathead on an original Mr Twister double tail. Soft tailed jigs were a bit new back then. I recall it vividly. It was where Loder's Ck empties into the Broadwater on the Gold Coast. It was my first lure caught salt water fish and I worked hard for it. I didn't let it go, but while I was cleaning it something clicked. Suddenly I understood my dad's fly fishing mate from my childhood who would hike through blackeberries and bracken to catch a brown trout so he could let it go. No photos back then because the image is stored in your head and only seen by the person it is most important to. Rex Hunt was busy kissing fish on TV and letting them go and I understood. Long before the size slot for flatties was introduced I caught my PB's (yes both) on the same day. An 87 followed by a 92 in the mouth of Tingalpa Ck trolled on a hard body Yo Zuri minnow. I was well chuffed. The bloke baitfishing on the bank shook his head as I lowered the first one gently back into the water. 20 mins later I did it again. Love your work Nev. I went kayak fishing and if only I had a drone up I would have had a solid chance at landing two 80cm plus flatties. Drifted right by two of them and spooked them. Awesome video Nev!

Great video, seeing drone fishing for flathead with a drone really makes me want to get a drone my self lol. You should try a quick release mount they're like 50 dollars but that way you'll be able to drop your lure from your drone.

Mate, just found your channel by accident, I’ve just started my own, you are a huge inspiration to any budding content creator, this is by far the best fishing video I’ve watched mate, and it’s the only one of yours I’ve watched. Nothing wrong with using the drone, why not exploit technology at our finger tips. I remember when side view sounders were born, people never said that was cheating, then livescope, nothing wrong with using tech to catch more fish. It’s 2023 and with GoPro and drones, traditional fishing tv shows are on the way to being dead. Look at what AI is doing, Hank Williams died 70 years ago but is now singing Straight Outta Compton but with a country flavour. I’m pleased I chanced upon your channel, you will be my inspiration now ha ha can’t wait to check out your other films!

Hey mate, that was brilliant. Those flatties look like a cousin of monkfish/stargazer we have over the ditch here. If I'm spearing flounders at night, I pick up the odd one. Usually chuck the fillets in a pan of garlic butter, and bingo job done. Anyway thanks again for sharing mate. Quality episode. Take care.
