Setup
Rod - Daiwa Infeet EX 1-4KG
Reel - Daiwa Revelry MQ 2500
Braid - 6lb J-braid
Leader - 8lb FcRock
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

Another awesome vid Josh! Some of your challenges have inspired me to try other baits and lures. Recently had a belter using chicken off the beach and caught Aussie Salmon, flatties and bream. Sometimes works out cheaper than Tweed bait or expensive lures too. Keep up the good work mate👍
mix minced garlic in a ziplock bag with the chicken, works even better :)

Great video👍 I generally believe that a flathead will eat anything that goes over its face they are just crazy fish and great fun to catch

I have caught them when fishing for blackfish with cabbage on the retrieve . There’s another challenge for you get some sea cabbage and flick for a flathead or two.

@@joshdfishing they pull bloody hard and the bicatch is always good.. Rising tide lightly weighted cunji, peeled prawns or soft fresh bread all do the trick! My go to fishing option in the winter months 👌

Flatties usaly take soft plastics or lures they realy eat bait
@@mtbtj538 nah man they always eat bait. Today I caught about 5-6 flattys around the 45cm mark on mullet fillet.

I use lures to get flat head it works pretty alright just don't get to big of a lure and you should be fine but keep up the work.

No just used them as is out of the pack. Just cut in half to make smaller

Aye mate, looking at buying a decent diawa set-up was thinking the infeet or battler paired with what your running the revelry, but wanted to get your honest opinion on what would be a Sick diawa combos for small river fish but also something that's got some kick for some big flattys, love yah work mate
you should fish at moreton island tagalooma pier you can catch red snapper, flaty, bream, GT, Butter Bream (easiest just use bread off the side 2.5 seconds and you got one), and lots more

Great vid mate just a question, in some of your previous videos I’ve seen that on your bait caster setup with the alphas your running 20 pound j braid. I’m going to pick up my first bait caster soon and was just wondering if you have had any issues with the line digging onto the spool with a bigger flathead or a snag. Trying to go as light as possible without running a risk. Cheers mate.

@@joshdfishing weird thing hey, you should try and use a little spinnerbait, they are mainly used for freshwater but I have never seen one used in the salt, would that be pretty weird?

this was really sick, i cant wait till im good enough at flicking lures to flick lollies, ive just gotten into lures, and hopefully i can get better and catch some bigger fish instead of catching little bream and whiting with chicken and prawns
Ur more likely to catch big bream with bait tbh but I always use lures. If ur always catching small ones it's probably just the spot ur fishing
