The OEM Orginal BMW engine air filter part is the MAHLE LX 3985/3. Online retailers will advertise the LX 3424 as fitting but it does NOT. That one is too big! Either get the K&N above or go to the BMW dealership for the original. I cannot find the LX 3985/3 anywhere online.

You think that's bad? The dealer wanted to charge me $1800 to replace spark plugs and ignition coils. I did it myself. Pretty straightforward.

Thanks for this video! I had one issue- reattaching the clip closest to the front of the car. There’s virtually no space for fingers, so you can’t apply pressure to the side of the clip and it wouldn’t pull up from above over the plastic lip. I finally got it by hooking a thin Allen wrench around the top of the clip, and pulling up hard (pliers holding the other end of the Allen wrench) while a friend pushed down on the plastic cover. And I applied a little WD40 to lubricate the plastic lip and the clip.

I had the same issue with the front clip. Was able to get it with my hands but it was a bit challenging.
I recommend just clipping the front clip first, it is easier when you do it this way.

Always BLOW out the filter area. Does no good to change the filter if the area contains debris!
Dude, every site is trying to sell me the mahle 3424. I cannot find the mahle lx 3985/3 anywhere. Your link just shows an K&N filter. I'm losing my mind. Do I have to go to dealer?
I am in the same boat man! Cant find the 3985 anywhere and all the time the websites say "it fits my car" it doesn't. I asked for a quote from the dealer just for the part. Hopefully its not super overpriced =/
