Suni Lee kept the American Gymnastics streak alive by winning gold in the All-Around competition at #Tokyo2020. Brazil's Rebeca Andrade claimed the silver medal followed by ROC's Angelina Melnikova with bronze. Simone Biles, the heavy favourite prior to the start of the Games, did not participate in the final to focus on her mental health. Enjoy the highlights from the Women's All-Around Final!

You guys have the amazing Vanessa Ferrari. I can't believe she was the 2006 World AA Champ and today, 2021, still managed to secure the Silver Olympic Medal on FX. Wow! She and American veteran Mykayla Skinner, both Silver Olympic Medalist.... both coming in as a last minute replacement? Wasn't' she supposed to have been injured & that's why she wasn't included in the original squad?
@@kiabtoomlauj6249 in the original squad there was Giorgia Villa, but she got injured some week before the Olympics. Vanessa only had to do the individual all-around but then she was included in the team
@@araihc. Thank you for the clarification. Now I remember watching parts of the Italian national or something of that nature. A few of us, on another video, were saying why have the nationals so close to the Olympics, because of injury concerns.
Yearly nationals & other regional competitions should be conducted, ideally, at least 5-6 months prior to the Olympic trials & the actual Olympics, so injuries (especially the smaller kinds that don't derail an elite Olympic level gymnast) could be healed up in time for the all-important Olympics.

Guan Chenchen was masterful on the beam. Flawless.

Guan had a lot of errors
Around 2 or 3 of those tiny, slim Chinese girls are superb on the beam. That's why they eventually captured the individual beam gold & silver; but I thought Tang Xijing was the most exceptional, even if she landed 1/2 an inch off & ended up on the floor. Even Guan, the ultimate Gold winner, almost fell off of the beam more than once, too. Anyway, Tang's slightly taller & you could see her extraordinary grace as she fliped & twisted. Before her fall, I thought she had Velcro under her feet...

Rebeca Andrade received very low performance marks on the uneven bars and on the balance beam, she deserved the gold. Shame, FIG. but suni is AMAZING
She could have had it, had she not stepped out of bounce on the floor, her strongest apparatus. Remember, it's between her and Suni more or less the whole way through, depending on that last exercise. Suni has ankle problems, so she never max out her acrobatics, on either vault or floor, remember.
Andrade also has had major surgeries; but her torn muscles seem to heal better than Suni's ankle. Anyway, either Lee or Andrade could have won... given how all the top 4-5 are so equally matched up (with the exception of Simone Biles, who really is head and shoulder above all others)...
Given how well matched the top 4-5's skills are (one's no more than 0.3 or 0.4 of a point lower or higher than the others), it comes down to major mistakes like falling off of the beam or repeatedly stepping out of bounce on the FX.
Suni may not go for the most difficult degrees in all of her apparatuses, but she also made no serious major mistakes like Andrade. On AVERAGE, then --- when all 4 apparatuses scores are added up --- you WOULD expect Lee to edge Andrade out, which was what happened.
@@kiabtoomlauj6249 Suni is wonderful, but Andrade had very low execution grades at UB and BB. At UB, all movements were vertical and without leg spacing and with the spiky output and had only 8.3 of E score.

@@felipeshannkarln.121 there has been a problem on their audio. As you can see and hear in AA finals and floor Finals… the audio at the last part are a bit late and there’s some kind of echo.

No estoy de acuerdo. La puntuación en salto a Suni Lee se La dieron bajísima y para mi me parece un buen salto. En barras asimétricas Sunisa Lee hizo el mejor ejercicio que se vio en esta Olimpiada y la diferencia fue mínima por parte de los jueces respecto a Andrade. En el ejercicio de suelo Rebeca sale dos veces de la pista y Lee hace un ejercicio sin fallos. Sunisa Lee es justa ganadora porque sencillamente fue la más regular y no cometió fallos.
