I see so many comments trashing Travis, but I don't see anyone commenting on how Dwight managed to bring these diverse musicians together, if only for a few minutes onstage to pay tribute to a true pioneer of country music.
It’s hard to be a rock star in a country music tribute. Travis is a kind soul and very talented. I have been a Dwight fan since 1986. I love all music. So does Dwight.
I was a care giver to a man several years ago who was severely mentally and physically challenged. He loved Buck Owens. He couldn’t walk or talk. We’d play Buck Owens music and he’d clap and use his feet on the floor to make his chair swivel around. Thank you Buck ❤🙏🙏❤
Chris Hillman, Dwight Yoakam, Billy Gibbons, Brad Paisley, Travis Barker. What a collaboration! Of course Buddy Owens on Streets of Bakersfield was like Buck being right there on stage. Phenomenal is an understatement.
I worked for Buck at two of his stations. I grew up in the 60's watching the Buck Owens Ranch Show on KPHO-TV 5 on Saturdays. My dad introduced me to Buck, and I always respected and liked Buck. Shortly after my father passed away of cancer, Buck put on a show to benefit cancer research. Buck was a greater entertainer then a lot of the folks considered. Thank you Buck for the opportunity and the music you left behind. RIP!
As a young kid I lived in San Diego and Bakersfield was a family joke because my aunt lived there. In 1980 I had to go to work in Bakersfield and it was a joke. I was there a month before I realized there were mountains near by , the dust hid them. What I did find were very nice people not at all assuming like the rest of SoCal, more country music than I could ever stand and the very best Mexican food on the planet. 40 years later it’s a big city, I haven’t been back but all of my memories are the finest of crazy people tubing on the Kern river, looking for snakes and just enjoying the hell out of life. Good for them!
Great Video! Very nice tribute to Buck Owens. R.I.P. Mrs. Buck Owens... This is what country music is all about. Not like this slick Nashville garbage sound we hear now. There's NO POP in my country....I'm just one of millions of true country music fans that feels this way.
I'm another one. I remember the show Pop Goes The Country, and while they had some grear music on that show, to start with, I think they got carried away with name.
Saw Buck Owens in Dublin Ireland , think it was 1986/88 , he was a pure legend , played 2 hrs, his band was amazing , love you Buck , thank you for the music 💖♥️🎶🎶
I knew of Buck Owens from the Hee Haw show in the 1970's. He was my first musical influence. He was the innovator of the Bakersfield Sound. He is, and will always be, a Country Music Legend.
Loved the diversity of the performers. My second concert was ZZ Top. My favorite toe action was Dwight. I grew up with Buck and Dangerous Don and the Buckaroos. They were part of my family. Loved the crazy drummer in the video. Just goes to show he touched us all.
it was kind of wierd to see Travis on the drums...but its cool and nice to see how Buck Owens infuenced so many different musicians in alot of different genres..i mean you had rock, punk, and of course country musicians colaberating together to celebrate the music of one of the greatest of all time...Awesome performance

Thanks for posting this. I'm a big fan of all of the other band members too. I don't know the drummer very well, but he definitely added a cool flair to the show. Great job by all!
So glad to see Chris Hillman playing Buck Owens. He was such a great contribution to the country rock movement of the 70's. Long live the flying burrito brothers...
