  • If you have someone in your life that you like to play games with, you’re probably well acquainted with the constant struggle of trying to find games that you can actually play together. It’s especially difficult to find games that feature local or couch co-op. This brings us to Nintendo’s newest game that features an optional co-op mode: Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Is the game worth buying with the intent of playing it with someone else?

There's also the problem of camera angles, since the camera is almost always focused on kirby it makes some parts of the game (mainly boss battles) incredibly difficult to tell where you are as bandana dee. That and the fact that bandee has to constantly follow kirby down to a tee or else he just gets teleported back to him, which can be a pain if you were trying to grab something important for the captured dees and soul peices.

i think the reason its like is to encourage communicatiion between both players i do wish the camera could be moved by player 2 tho

Player two is pretty boring after several levels but my nephew has fun as Kirby and that's all that matters.

Thanks for mentioning about the Co Op with Kirby, I was hoping that it would of been better with the full game but it's kind of lame that you don't get to have copy ability like they had with All Star.

Kirby games have never really done well with co-op, minus maybe Dream Course, but that’s a spin-off
I like how in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land and Kirby Star Allies they give you the opportunity to play as other characters with different movesets. It allows for more variability without it becoming stale. Here though, while Bandana Waddle Dee has a unique moveset, that’s all Player 2 gets, and it makes the experience a little less enjoyable

I’ve wondered why they didn’t just have 2 Kirby’s on screen (similar to how co-op was handled in Sackboy: A Big Adventure). I don’t think an optional co-op mode necessarily has to follow the rules of the Kirby universe or make sense with the story.

@@GameandGig True, they could do what they with the four kirbys in the amazing mirror

personally i think Return to Dream Land has the best co-op bcus of the fact you dont need to play as the other characters you can play as other kirbys an idea i frequently wonder they ditched after return

This would be a great one! Maybe better would be Super Mario Odyssey and have the little one play as Cappy!

Me and my girlfriend are playing Donkey Long tropical freeze in co op mode and it was very enjoyable until the levels started becoming extremely difficult. My gf can’t keep up with the pace of the game and now I am playing solo just because I need to pass the levels. I suggest that the least skilled player should control Kirby and the the most skilled one should control the other guy just so things can be balanced

We tried that one and decided to ditch on it, because it was very difficult for Kat. Probably best played in co-op with two experienced gamers. For similar vibes, I’d recommend New Super Mario Bros U or Rayman Legends (this one can also be quite difficult, but the game is more forgiving when played in co-op).

It’s definitely unbalanced, but I still felt that the co-op was a lot of fun. Same with Mario Odyssey. Don’t hear a lot of people agree with that one though. So I’m glad I’m not the only one that can appreciate some slightly less than equal Nintendo co-op gaming haha!
