I'm an American born in Mexico. My step-father was the hardest working man I have ever known. He supported 11 kids, thirteen of us including him and my mom. In the traditional Latino culture, he was always served first and he definitely deserved it!!!

Real talk! Been here three months living with my fiance.. at first I started cooking her breakfast and doing some chores around the house because she works for a call center and is basically on American time. Well, that turned out to be a mistake and I started to get disrespected. Learned my role finally and she complains from time to time about doing chores, but now I'm respected. I just have to treat her how she really wants to be treated. She wants to feel wanted by doing those things for me and my son. Good traditional values..

Calvin it’s true we are rich here in the Philippines as foreigners. But remember your 400 pesos a day only applies to all the single moms and the many women working entry level jobs, which of course are the ones seeking foreigners with no regard to age gap. Here in Cebu we meet many women making much more than that. Teachers, nurses and even call centre workers make double or triple that. Oh and don’t forget to mention that career women tend to have a 25-30 age gap max.

This is part of what makes it hard to settle here. Add to many foreigners hitting you up for loans, and you start to hold on tight to your wallet. The problem is this: You as a foreigner say that you are not wealthy (in say, America or Australia or the UK). You’re being honest. In the Phillipines this is seen as false modesty. After all, you had the money to fly there, and by extension MUST be well off, if not rich.
This view of the world can have tragic outcomes when Philippines locals marry foreigners, and then discover their partners weren’t kidding (or in a number of cases wildly exaggerated their assets).

A LOT OF FOREIGNERS ARE BROKE ,LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK.THAT IS WHY THEY ARE LEAVING THEIR COUNTRIES AND THEY ARE MOVING TO ASIA.THEY HAVE NO CHOICE.

I have to disagree. I spend most days adding a simple: "not all foreigners are from the U.S.A." to most vlogs about Philippines. If you live in totally 1st world Western Europe you earn well below $2k / mo. For example, in Italy you earn about $1,500 / mo with a white collar job. In Spain (where I am now), another totally 1st world Western Europe country, you earn from $800 to $1,200 in the less rich regions.
Now try call yourself "rich" if you earn $800 / mo and come over to the Philippines, just to find out cost of living (for a foreigner) is higher in the Philippines than in some regions of Europe.
Also, I've not included Eastern Europe, where people earn $400 / mo to $800, even in countries that are members of the European Union.
American vloggers have the "to an hammer everything looks like a nail" mindset. You are rich, so you believe everyone else is rich too. No. USA are #7 in the top average income countries in the world. If you exclude fake fiscal paradises like Luxembourg, the USA are #4. USA are the top #4 earners out of 195 countries. Think about that.

Very true and if you don't count those who contribute nothing from birth to death - generational poor - the position would be even higher. In US 12% are considered poor = 37,900,000 but in other counties they wouldn't be. Not just money - standard of living..

Many Africans think the same because of the reality that in USA we have freedoms, opportunities, and can work and make money. You are looking great Calvin and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your beautiful lady Marylyn. I am living below poverty level where I live but I have everything I need and all that I want. We women need to build up the man that our society has broken and devalued. It to me is sickening when watching a tv show and a man is portrayed as a useless clown. I love the greenery in your videos...I finally turned 60! so far still have my arms and lega attached and head attached to neck lol...I am thriving! Last night when I caught part of your livestream, you once again motivated me to break up with sugar. Thank you for sharing your experiences and for the community of many men you have built that help me understand a male perspective. We need to really love and respect each other. My husband loves cooking..he loves to cook! But he best not wash those dishes..that I feel is my job..no matter how some folks might say. A woman has to serve her God and then her man first....period. The strong couple will have thriving fruit/ children. But some women are really alone and left with both roles..it is hard. Many men have been raised by amazingly strong women who were forced to do a lot to survive. Anyway, you sir..are a good man and deserve the best life. Once again, Happy Birthday to your lady! I love cake but NOPE...you do inspire this older white liberal mud-western transplant to Cali piscean woman. Glad you got rain..we did too...water is life.

Mudwestern was an error but sure is accurate when the snow melted lol. My area I grew up in had some tornadoes nearby..not too far.

Calvin I am curious about what you do to protect yourself from the sun? I am a bald guy thinking of making my first visit to the Philippines in November, do you wear a hat, do you put sunscreen on your head? Just curious because I bet the strength of the sun in pretty intense in the Philippines.

Thank you. For the truth! Like it was in Mexican culture.
Men eat 1st. Sadly western influence has tainted our Mexican women. So....
I make about 6k and kept wondering where I really sit.
I was worried about it not being enough and believing that most you tubers are lying. But 3808 is a very precise #
Out here in California. Im almost bankrupt.
You have me 99% convinced on moving. What's your point of view on having kids here in the US and living there ? Is it difficult or do your kids resent ya? Sorry if it's too much to ask. Thanks !

Try living in the Philippines working for 10 dollars a day to support a family. . Most foreign wouldn’t last one week It is pretty much same thing if you are working a job in the Philippines or usa. You still living paycheck to paycheck. The foreign have advantage due usa dollars currency over Philippines pesos. This is apply every country around the world based on their minimum wage around the world.

He is not making a point between the definition of rich. His point was probably that there needs to be limits on spending. While "rich" to a Filipina, there is a limit to what he can spend and stay "rich".

It's not true a million pesos would last less than a year for an American...so even if you had 10 million pesos you still just have enough to about 8 years of your lucky and live a modest life

Sounding old American, Cal. If you have a problem, you deal with it and maybe seek an expert. Also include prayer over yourself for God's spirit, gentle indwelling.
