Tell him that I said welcome to the club...I haven't received the all clear yet, but it's definitely looking like I won my battle with prostate cancer! Such a great thing to hear.
OMG I just picked up a prep table like yours from Costco. I haven't even unboxed my Pitboss 1150 yet but this video will serve me well later! Thanks for that.
I put aluminum foil on the bottom of my smoker and 1/2 way up the side front and back of my PB pro 850. I also wrap my deflector with aluminum foil. It makes the clean up and mess so much better. If I use the sear/flame option i still wrap it but I just take a butter knife to cut slits in the foil before starting.
Do you have any recommendations or videos to watch on that? I spoke to my wife about doing the same thing! I feel like it would protect the interior a little better? I have the pellet/charcoal combo and just LOVE IT!❤
@@JR-hy2mq I wanted to do that, but when we were reading the manual it specifically said NOT TO DO IT? I feel like if you made your cuts precise around the openings and take into acct the adjustment for the heat shield one can pull this off pretty effectively? When I look at my charcoal side, I considered getting a thin pan (pie pan) that I could lay on the bottom and would hold the charcoal without making the entire bottom a mess. But then you have to find a pan that is perfect that won't disintegrate at 5-600°. Interested in your thoughts? Thanks!
I have an 850 and just did my first deep cleaning. I scraped grates and deflector same way and used the ash inside to soak up excess grease. Then I scraped whole inside to grease bucket. Shop vacuumed contents out Wiped inside out with paper towels. I then cleaned as best I could the grates and deflector then pressure washed them. Allowed them to dry in sun then return to grill. After that i wiped exterior with damp towel and finished up with paper towels. Turned out great but wish i had seasoned the deflector with veggie oil before I cooked the first time.
I just got the Pit Boss 1150 Version 3 pellet smoker. It has all the modifications that I have seen that people have been asking over the years. I have noticed some people have put aluminum foil over the dome surface to make cleanup easier. I don't know if that is a good idea. Pit Boss people told me not to do that. How about cleaning. After 6-12 months of use cleaning the grill out every 2 cooking times is it good to use a degreaser to get rid of the build up grease inside? I also have been told to use a plastic scraper to clean the inside walls of the unit. Any other suggestions would be helpful.
I do the same with a putty knife to clear the heat deflector but I use my shop vac to clean up all the dust and pieces as I am scraping. Just have to make sure it is as dry as possible to not plug anything up.
I knew I liked your channel for a reason pitboss Nation and greenworks nation that's what I'm talking about I use both as well they never get enough love
I have a cover on the inside over my auger going into the burner and I was told not to wash w water it will make the pellets swell and clog the auger. Any advice
Just a bit of advice: Spray-Nine is a great cleaner and degreaser, but don't use it on a grill. It will absolutely ruin the finish! I've done it, unfortunately. That Pit Boss cleaner does a great job. I'll have to get some
Nice video and really generous of you to donate your smoker. I'm just concerned that smoked foods are and rust on the deflector plate may not be great for someone battling cancer. I've never thought about using car cleaner on my smoker.
He was in the market for a smoker and don't confuse iron oxide as harmful rust because iron oxide actually provides some protection for the metal. After putting a coating of oil and grease on it, it's good to go.
I thought it was only for the outside but the bottle says: The Pit Boss Grill and Smoker Cleaner and Degreaser liquid is environmentally friendly, made with all natural extracts, non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-filming, safe for food prep surfaces, and is biodegradable. It’s effective on the interior and exterior of your grill, smoker, oven, and microwave.
New to your channel and learning a lot. I have noticed that you have used the 1100 or 1150 and the 1600 series in both the Elite, Pro or competition models. I was just wondering if you would go with the double wall feature of the Pro 1600 or Pro Elite 1600 or do you think the single wall construction of the Pro 1100 smokes just as well and the double walls don’t really add much to the end result of the cook other than a nice 70 Ibs of extra weight. Im stuck trying to decide on getting the 1600 Pro that has the double walls and retails for about $300 more than the Pro 1100. Thanks for your guidance.
I literally had to rewind like 4 times to make sure I heard ur correctly, “table” the way u said it, Arabic accent 😂 we call it (taybal) instead of table. 2:22
I bought a Pit Boss Pro V2 recently, and I KNOW the manual doesn't suggest this . . . but can you just put the racks in the dishwasher? It's a pain to hand clean them sometimes. How do you clean them in your Brunswick? I'm assuming the racks are mostly the same. Love your videos and recipes man. Thanks!
This was a great video I didn’t realize you could get the pellet hopper and electronic screen wet… I move my smoker to the gazebo if it rains Is there any warning to getting it wet or is the system water protected… I would assume it is since I watched you spray it
Call me obsessed but I always clean my grill by running it through the dishwasher, letting it dry completely and then spraying it with a little food release (like Pam), so food won't stick to it on the next grilling. Question: If you take out the burn pot can you then wash the bottom of the barrel and let the water drain out through the burn pot hole?
Thanks for the tutorial! I’ve been watching a handful of your videos as someone new to pellet smokers (I’m about 6 cooks deep as I type this) and I was wondering, do you recommend degreasing and wet cleaning the inside of the smoker ever? I’m noticing a buildup in mine and I’m being a bit overly cautious about how I take care of it. Also, I’m noticing a lot of oxidization on my sear plate and pan. I’ve done a baking soda and vinegar treatment but it didn’t seem to remove much. Any advice there or am I worried about nothing? Ive messed up some propane grills in the past so when I upgraded to my Pit Boss pellet I promised I was gonna take extra care of it.
So that pit boss degreaser is non toxic so you could use it on the inside. You could try grape seed oil on the sear plate. And if you arnt using the sear feature you can put down aluminum foil over it to protect it.
Just keep a coat of food grade mineral oil on it with a cover roll it to the shade. It will last a bit longer, you could of had a fire under that baffle. Good to hear about the guy. Good News😇
Wouldn’t it be better to scrape everything down first (top to bottom inside) and then Shop Vac it out before using soap and water? Seams like it was be less messy because you’d remove all of the stuff you scraped off and the ashes on the bottom while they’re dry.
personally i think it would be best if people clean the grills or smokers when it is just barely warm to the touch so it wouldn't get that bad, but of that is me though
How you avoid this very simple! While you're cooking glass of water in between cooks a switching out stuff on the grill current all the way up to 500 pour water over the sear plate completely It will steam everything off and clean it and rinse it off at the same time and it'll keep that sear plate nice and clean! At the same time wet sponge keep the grill clean while you're cooking wipe down in between changes of meat

I use apple cider vinegar to degrease the inside of my smoker. It does a good job, and I don't have to do a burn off when I'm done.
I use Citrus safe. Works great on the grease and I clean after each cook.
Nice! I always take out the deflector and scrap the junk onto the ground or driveway.

Every grill that is metal has rust. It shows you have been using it. It does not change the flavor.
How did you like the Pit Boss competition edition ? I am looking at purchasing this unit from a Traeger that I own currently.
