Very pretty! Have never seen black opal.
Thanks for watching Aeriel we put out videos every Thursday.
That’s what I do to most my opals. I get it to a free form and polish it a little bit it takes me a few weeks at looking at them. Once I have more then 3 or 4 I’ll finally get sick of looking at their shape and actually form them into their final shape.
Great method keith you get them to a rub then study smart thinking.
I really need to get me a cerium wheel it really makes the colors pop.
beautiful opal but bummer about that sand/ash.. kinda worried tho that the remaining exposed sand/ash inclusions will cause it to craze in the future..
I know well that’s how it goes sometimes appreciate the support Thanks for Watching
I didn't know you could get natural black opal from anywhere outside of Australia
Yes here is the GIA link mine data for Stayish opal www.gia.edu/gems-gemology/winter-2014-gemnews-new-deposit-black-opal-from-ethiopia
What grit of wheel ?

Incredibly cool to obtain Stayish rough of that size. I’ve thought about getting some, but it’s not as available as Welo (or stable) but you definitely got a great stable piece. Turned out very nice!
there's anther channel that say only black opals come from lighting ridge, which I don't understand what he is talking about above my pay grade I guess.
You can check the link in description GIA mine data on the Stayish Bkack Opal Thanks for watching appreciate it

I believe Opals are a gift from God. Such eternal beauty in a stone! Thanks for sharing...shared.
I believe that’s so true god bless happy new year.
I thought all black Ethiopian Opal was treated. Thanks for the education.
Thanks for watching Jim appreciate it
Some can be. Some how they smoke it to get it black but if you get black opal rough it’s easy to tell if it’s been smoked.
So there's finally Ethiopian opal that isn't shit?
I'm firmly in the Australian opal is superior camp, but if it is stable it's good!
I do have to say that the Ethiopian pattern is beautiful but just has an air of fake to it compared to Australian opal...
Also GREAT message at the end! Thank you for that.
The deeper they go into the mines the better and stabler it is. At least that’s what I’ve herd.
