Awe man 73 days. This is great to know. Currently on 8 mg here, been on Suboxone a year and a half, and just starting to realize it’s affecting me in a way that makes me realize that I don’t want to be on this medicine forever. When I first got on Suboxone, first year actually I wanted to be on it forever. But I have a long way to go and it makes me really nervous so I am very thankful for videos such as these.

Hi Wes great videos I am here to say great job!!!!! I have done it once cold turkey like you. I was on 4MG when I stopped cold turkey and not realizing how powerful this stuff was yikes. I started out taking 8mg a day so I thought 4MG no problem boy was I wrong! Like Wes said everyone is different when it comes to withdrawals so this is my experience. After I went through hell the first time and there is hope at the end of the tunnel. I am not trying to discourage anyone but I am not going to sugar coat it either it feels like hell sometimes but I got through it as you can and got through the withdrawals and then decided to make the worst decision of my life and relapse. So I decide to go back on suboxone and try the taper method, so that's what I did. OK the good part! I was able to taper down and get off suboxone with minimal withdrawals to the point where I felt like I had a mild cold for a couple days. I want everyone to know it takes MAJOR MAJOR discipline and most importantly the MINDSET and willingness to go through with it. (My plan)= I started the taper rapidly at first 1MG every 14 days for the first 4MG. Then I changed it to a half .5MG every 3 weeks until I got down to obviously .5mg. Oh yeah my dosage per day, I was splitting my dose to where I took it 2 times a day once when I woke up and the second one I would wait as long as I could to take it before going to bed so I was able to get a good nights sleep through out the process. (Example)=(2mg per day 1mg morning and 1mg nighttime) Once you are down to a half a mg .25 in the morning and .25 at night and I did that level for 1 month then I cut it down to once a day and took .25 in the middle of the day and did that for 2 weeks. I was feeling good when I tapered down to once a day so I quit after 2 weeks but you may be different so take it as long as you need if you feel a little shitty at any point through out the taper process because everyone is different. So here I am finished with suboxone. I had quit and crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. After I got to the 36 hr of being off suboxone and had no withdrawal symptoms I knew I was going to be ok and I couldn't believe I had done it. I was so proud of myself and it felt amazing!! I did it, and to know I wasn't going to go through hell! I want people to know it can be done and yes remember everyone is different and I am just one example of a taper success.

You brought up a good point. What is 100%. I'm almost 55 now and been on opioids for 15 years and subs for 5. I'm day 58-59 now and I'm questioning what is 100% with me. I've always had lower back issues but now my left shoulder hurts like I got a tear and wrists are hurting like I've got arthritis. I feel these drugs have been making pain issues I'm having now. Most will say go to a dr then and I would agree but I lost my insurance and that's why I'm almost 60 days off subs. I'm still holding out and hoping the longer I'm clean that these issues will fade in time. With that said I can still work a labor intensive job I just need to be more careful with how I work smarter not harder!!! Things do get better after sub use!! I have a 30 year old son that the other day gave me a big hug and said to me there you are that's the father I know and love!! That was the icing on the cake for me!!

How rewarding to hear that from your son. I am 61 days off methadone. Boy it was a wild ride but hoping to turn a new year, new me. I agree with health issues popping up after being on these types of drugs. It's really scary

27 days tomorrow.. definitely feel like most of the initial symptoms have begun to subside.. of course the lack of energy/motivation and the general malaise is goin' strong. Exercising, staying hydrated and nourished.. it's doable but of course I'm anxious for more relief. I totally agree with what I've heard many of you say.. this process is so long and you're analyzing the way you feel at all times so intently that it's hard to tell what's w/d and what's not anymore... never again. Thanks and bless you all!

Goodbye Suboxone You gotta be over 100 days now, or close to it, that's awesome! Today is day 48 for me and I am still annoyed by minor physical stuff now and then but it's definitely a daily struggle to "normalize" with this new life. It's more good than bad now and getting better a little bit at a time.

Goodbye Suboxone Great! It's 4 months for me today.. this whole process is still ongoing and there have been parts of it that were exactly what I expected and parts that have turned out completely different. Overall, many battles have been won and things are continuing to improve.. a big part of which is that I'm now free and healthy enough to take care of my business. Hope you're doing well.. and thanks again for the encouragement, especially during those early withdraw days.

But why does that scare you? Think about how come it scares you. Just because it’s unknown? I’m at 68 days today and I’m not 100% but is sally down the road who never used opiates “100%”? No. No one is. We are never going to be 100% because we have changed ourselves. Do you remember your “100%” prior to using opiates? I’m sure there were tired days, days your stomach hurt, days you just had an attitude, that’s just being normal. It took me a long time to realize this, but you have no idea how amazing you will feel once off subs and opiates. Just wait it the fuck out. That time is going to pass anyway, no matter what. You can pass that time bettering yourself or staying in limbo. Don’t be afraid. It’s amazing

Great job, bud! Awesome to hear you are doing well. Good luck with the job hunt. I do the stay at home mom gig, but when my brother got sober a this year he gave himself some time, too. He said he needed to learn who he was sober before he tried selling himself to a boss. It makes perfect sense to me! Keep up the good work!!

Jacque Daniels I did a very rapid taper over the course of 1 month. Went from 6mg/day to 2mg/day. It was not done precisely or with any kind of plan. I just streched out my last script a bit. For how long I was on subs, this was really not a taper at all. Most would recommend a 6month or even 1 year taper. It is suggested that a person get down to .5 mg/day or less for several months before jumping off. But long tapers don't work for me and it would have just driven me crazy. So I went all in. Glad I did now.

Hey I've been on Suboxone for 15 years almost and I've been on a high dose for most of the time. I've made quite a few attempts to get off of this stuff but have not had any luck. Was wondering if I could have your email so that I could get some advice from you here and see how you are doing. The longest I've been able to make it off of Suboxone has been a couple months before relapsing. I really like your mindset and the things you say in your videos. I'm in Scottsdale Arizona btw

Jared Gottlieb Hi there Jared. Thanks for sharing. Today is day 90 for me. I really cant believe its been 90 days...3 months. What I face now is the mental fog...paws...etc. There certainly is a "reset" period that needs to take place in our brains after taking this stuff for years. I do not yet feel "normal", but I feel 90% better than when I began this journey. It is now my belief that after 1-2 months it becomes a matter of how much effort we put into refueling our body and mind. Im talking eating well, drink lots of water, vitamins, exercise, getting outside, socializing, and proper sleep. If a person does all of those things, I belive their recovery and stabalization is on a far more rapid course.

Alot of it is mental until it isn't. Sure you may think you're sick after a few days but the Half life is forever. Up until about day 8 is when it really kicks in and you wake up in hell. It's gotta be hard to work thru that and take care of kids idk man

Yup😕 running out of your scrip early a few times will definitely make you allot more responsible with your monthly supply🤣 there's been a few times when I've ran out with a week to go till my apt. and oh boy waiting till apt day was like a child waiting for Christmas except the only gift I wanted was a dang lifeline🤣 yeah but like you were saying I can usually function normally up until day 3 or 4 then it starts becoming a little more difficult but I can manage but by day 6,7, especially 8... Forget about it lol. I'm on the tex though and I've heard it's different than the bupe/naloxone. I can't imagine it's different by much.

@brandonplayz have you tried a higher dose of Imodium? And Gabapentin works really well for restless legs. It’s not easy but having the right comfort meds makes it a lot more bearable.

    • @getstraight234

Day 2/3🤨 if your tapped out that quick your never getting off. Granted in your situation you could have just been testing yourself and had subs to pull out with which would make sense. The only time I'm ever been without has been when I've been irresponsible with my prescription and ran out early therefore being forced to wait a week till my next appointment lol. That happened a couple times till I became more responsible LOL
