Just different perspectives. For some $300 boards are considered high end/enthusiast, $230 to be mid range. He has a X570 Crosshair Impact priced at $429, it makes sense to me that this is mid-range.

Biggest game changer imo is the idea of motherboard armor for those open air case builds

  • @ShimmeringSword

Honestly you saying it's average/ok/decent is all that's needed when that cover plate is so good looking. That's something that always bugs me, mobo designs either being gaudy or outright bad looking. NZXT is one of the few parts makers out there that knows how to execute modern aesthetics almost perfectly, without completely sacrificing performance or charging boutique prices for it, and not shoving their branding downy our throat.
I bought their white 510 case knowing I was giving up some airflow (hasn't been an issue) for that superior look. Having this clean white mobo inside would be great.

The problem with NZXT boards is that they STILL dont have an AMD board... maybe with zen 3 they will but its genuinely stupid not to.

The problem here is when you have case manufacturer selling their own motherboards. They clearly did not invest in any new tooling to produce motherboards, because that would be a straight loss in R&D and manufacturing. Its clear that these boards are sourced from somewhere else and slapped on with the nzxt aesthetic.

On a side note - the Gigabyte Z490 Vision G is actually a fair bit more expensive than the NZXT N7 Z490. So you are definitely paying for a proper high end board on the upper end of the scale with the Gigabyte. Its not really an apples to apples comparison. the Gigabyte is better because it costs more and it should come with all the bells and whistles that is befitting of the price tag.

One thing you got wrong: most people building a PC board are not considering the $220+ as a mid tier board. If someone is spending $200-300 on a motherboard, they are sinking money into tons of features that most people don't need or care about. You are an ultra-enthusiast. Just my perspective

The UEFI text looks like very familiar to ASRock's. Not that it's a bad thing, I find ASRock's UEFI fairly easy to use for basic overclocking.

It seems like it'd suck trying to get at the PCI latches to take off your graphics card with it shrouded like that, especially if you have a backplate on your gpu. I'd loved to have seen you slap this in an H510i

The BIOS looks like an ASRock setup, not a bad thing or great either. For $220 it would be nice to have more USB ports on the rear IO and no thermal pads for the M.2 slots sucks...Good review OP Tech!

the vrm is almost, if not exactly, the same as asrock extreme 4 or steel legend. asrock specific fp12 caps reveal that too.
and for $229 usd we can find a lot of models with 12*50a or even 12*60a paired much stronger vrm heatsink, like msi gaming edge wifi and asus tuf wifi.
for ~230w the vrm on nzxt n7 is okay, and the real challenge should be at around 300w where some 12*45a drmos models are found dead because of bad vrm heatink design lol.
btw i wonder if those gen4 stuffs are kept on this nzxt n7.
