Always liked the look of these for white builds, so glad to see that it could be a decent choice for a future white build now. :) Great to have more options for white mobo's in the market! Also hope it goes well with the suprise :) No doubt Stabby will prevail... :)
Fun fact about NZXT motherboards, you can only screw in 6 screws. There are holes in the back of the board, but you cannot access them from the front, unless you take off the cover, which is screwed from the back.
after bad experiences with some components on their n7 z590 im super hesitant on getting this over something like the msi b650 carbon or x670e carbon but god nobody does those covers like nzxt and it looks fantastic
@@squonch2532 yeah I was looking at this board a lot for an all white build I want to do. It has a couple cool features like it's NZXT special headers meaning you can use some of their rgb products and not need a separate controller for it but it ends right there. Apparently since ASrock is partnered with them to produce the PCB and do the bios updates for come super slow since they have to be passed through nzxt as a middle man to the consumer. This board still to this day does not have support for AMD's V-cache CPUs.
@@nouuhlifts I wouldn't suggest it. I've certainly read some reddit posts of people using it with the 7800 - 7950x3d chips and getting their system to POST and Boot but it's highly unstable. But I was never able to get mine to work, ended up returning the board and getting the ASrock B650e Steel Legend and it worked fine
Maybe thats extra USB connectors is made for compatibility with cases like Lian Li 216 who has a upgrade piece that adds extra USBs and other connectors, just maybe
i want to get this board for my 7800x3d build, but from what i read in reddit NZXT is really slow on BIOS update ? (6+ months behind) any thoughts on this ?
The X3D support bios was already available for this board several months ago. Several people on Reddit have reported no issues when using this board with an 7800/7900/7950X3D with the latest bios. If you still have issues, then it's probably a defective unit.
Looking at the IO i only see 5 USB type A 3.2 ports. Amazon link mentioned also have 2 type A 2.0. I really really need more ports than the 5 i'm seeing. What am i missing? Thanks
The ROG Strix is a better board. The only thing this board has are some covers and some nzxt headers for their rgb products that let you use them without a controller. Other than that it's really lacking compared to other boards, it's driver updates are so slow to come and it still doesn't support any of AMD's X3D CPUs. Unless you have a lot of other NZXT products or place that much value on aesthetics I would skip this board. I ended up returning mine after finding out it doesn't support my 7800x3d and there being absolutely no word on when or if support would come for it.
Regarding the cat - I'd say it depends on their personality. At first I thought it was a "hell no!" type of name, but the fact that your existing cat is called "bindi" changes things -- They love to stab! So it fits the theme.
The bottom 2 slots are X8 you can see they are only half popuuulated with pins. Are they Bifrucated PCIe GEN5 lanes or GEN4 X8? Pretty board but does NZXT do their own BIOS or is it the standard Asrock Bios? If it's the Asrock BIOS I would never be interested
Asrock makes the bios for it but rather than just flat out using Asrocks bios, nzxt pushes it off to asrock, asrock sends it back to nzxt, nzxt tweaks it a little then releases it to the consumer. The entire process makes bios updates come slower than old people fuck. And it still doesn't support any of amds x3d cpus
Two quick questions regarding the USB port marked with the BIOS text. I've seen several MBs with such a USB port. I assume there isn't actually anything special about it, as it's not "dedicated" nor required to have in order to install a BIOS update. Correct? Also, can I use that port for periferals without any concerns?
I bough the old z490 version of this board many years ago and it literally didn’t fit the default mount position with the kraken z73, NZXT’s own AIO 😂 I think I bent some ram but that aio is so bad anyway with the breakout cable not snapping in and the daisy chain can cable not working
If the motherboard supports pcie 5.0 on m. 2 then it will have pcie 5.0 on the x16 slot as well as it shares the bandwidth (at least for the first slot which is connected to the cpu)
For as expensive as these boards are, and have been, Its kinda disappointing to still see 8+4 pin cpu connectors, I would have loved to see them add 8+8, especially since they've stepped up their game with the VRM, the m.2 covers should actually be heatsinks, I hate to see such a blatant cheap out, and they've done this for all of their motherboards, the rear IO is stronger this time around, but another DP or HDMI port could have been slapped on and more either usb A or usb c connectors added would have made this a lot better. All in all, it's a solid mobo this time round, but they are expensive, and although they look great, I would have loved to see some more solid features that have already been added to similar boards at this price point
Yes and no. ASrock technically makes the BIOS, but rather than just flat out using ASrocks bios, asrock first sends it to NZXT, then NZXT tweaks it a bit, then it gets released to the consumer. Which makes updates come slower than old people fucking.
I imagine that the covers are built separately. Asrock builds the boards then sends them to NZXT who put the covers and proprietary headers on them, then sell to distributors and consumers.
Its really not. Its a pain to clear cmos, its a pain to get ram oc'd properly, its so uncoopertive. Ive never had so many xmp/expo problems with any other mobo ive ever owned.
What issues did you run into and what alternatives would you recommend? I've seen next to no complaints about them looking around besides some consistent compatibility issues with X3D chips but all other alternatives I've looked at have just as many complaints about some issue or another so I've been having a hard time deciding.
@@AR-bj5et Now that I have actually done some research, this is a problem for the AM5 platform, across the board (getting 4 sticks of highspeed ram to function at their advertised speed and long ram training times). Honestly, going in and testing manual timings isn't horrible, I like doing it (I am also fairly new to it). Clearing the cmos on this mobo is a pain in the ass though. For me, personally, I had to clear cmos a minimum of 2 times to get the pc to post. Now, if you've ever tried oc'ing your ram before you'd know there's a high probability that you're going to have to restart your pc multiple times. So, it just takes that much longer to freakin test timings and such. I kinda just gave up after 2 days lol. The system works perfectly fine with 2 sticks of ram @ 6000m/ts. @@AR-bj5et Also, apparently that 3d cache does most of the heavy lifting in games, so ram speed isn't as important. You'd be fine running 5200m/ts instead of 6000m/ts. Even on the amd website 7800x3d and 7950x3d are rated at 5200 in 2x1R and 2x2R. So I suppose going higher than that is asking for stability issues.
