We bought a 2020 F-Type R Coupe over the Corvette. Why? In 3 months of ownership I've seen ONE other F-Type where we live. I see 50 'Vette's a day. Plus the sound is just insane.
Then why did you not buy a Maserati? It’s even more rare and it sounds even better. 😊
@@PeterSchneemann We seriously considered it. The Maserati GT SOUNDS fantastic (it has a Ferrari V8!), about as rare, but there was no dealer network to service the car within 100 miles and the technology package was about 10 years behind the times.
@@christopherkrueger4328 Very true. I was deciding between c7, gran turimso, f type, and r8. I decided on the c7 and I did a widebody kit on it. Aventador rear lighs. Black rims, black rear window grill, changed front bumper, added fog lights, did a tune. The GT is very behind in interior design and tech. Sorry for ranting. I don't even know how I got to this. But very true.

@@christopherkrueger4328I agree that the older model of Maserati GT look outdated from inside, it is overpriced and expensive and hard to maintain in America, but so it is Jaguar compared to Corvette. It is still my second favourite car and it comes in AWD, so if I am lucky enough I will have it one day. But first I need a Vette 😅
As a Brit, I’ll say both are great cars, the Jaguar though to us Brits has poor reliability, something the Corvette doesn’t. Jaguars are not held in the same high esteem as Americans hold them. The looks are great for both but the Corvette has like all Corvettes the X factor. The interiors are both fine, the jaguar’s has spent more money on its interior. The engine, the Vettes is bulletproof so award goes to the Corvette.
I recently traded my C7 for a 2017 f type r. The corvette is a lot of car for the money however everyone has one . The f type especially the R is more unique and to me more fun and a good value for what your getting. People talk about the price being basically double but what there not looking at is the build quality. The c7 build quality isn't bad but the f types materials in the interior are well worth the price tag and it reminds you your in something special. Plus the sound is better than most exotics.
F-Type for me. Although I do like the Corvette, I think the Jaguar is more unique. Also, I would not compare these two cars. The Corvette represents sportscar value with supercar performance. The Jaguar is more upscale and compares more with Audi, Porsche, MB, etc. I've been in both and I feel special in the F-Type.
I went with an F-Type V8S. I've owned an M3, 911 and DB9 and wanted something different. I admire the Corvette and recognize it's outstanding performance-to-value proposition, but couldn't get over its 'look at me!' styling (which isn't a knock - just not my thing) and popularity. There's something cool about driving a car for days without seeing another one on the road. Corvettes are everywhere (for good reason), but when I spend my hard-earned $60,000 + on a car, I want something more-or-less unique.
Sarude. Actually there is a V8S model. It was discontinued so you don't see them anymore but it did exist. It just was a slower version of the R model. Just for info.
Yes, but not by much! While Jaguar quoted the V8S at 495 HP, it's engine delivers 427 HP to the wheels (courtesy of Motor Trend) which means it's generating at least 525 HP at the crank. This explains why the 0-60 MPH and 1/4 mile times of the '14, '15, '16 and '17 V8 powered F-Types are nearly identical.

Just last year, Chevrolet sold 32,782 C7s to Jaguar's 4,108 F-Types, and that 8:1 ratio's been fairly consistent since both cars came out in 2014. Of course, C3s, C4s, C5s and C6s are also common because Corvettes have been on sale for nearly 65 years. Clearly, your dad is NOT in a small minority of Corvette owners in Maryland :-)

I can't choice. Nor can I take sides. Both of these cars are worthy of going into my garage. The Sting Ray to rip up the track in. The F-Type to go to formal classy parties in. The people who's choosing sides, are missing out on a lot of greatness in both of these modern classics.

As big of a fan as I am of Vette's, id have to take the Jaguar. Only because Corvette's are all over the place and a lot of people have them. Not a lot of people have the Jaguar so it has more character to it.
This is an extremely tough decision, and also really depends on your lifestyle. Corvettes are a bit more practical, with the larger cockpit and trunk, and also cheaper than the F Type (generally). Though the Corvette offers the looks and engines of an extremely expensive super car, the F Type also has a bit of an edge to its design as well. It almost looks like a luxury sports car. I don't want to just restate the facts in this video, but this is a tough choice.
There's no question the Vette is the better value. It's a great looking car that out performs the Jag & costs less. However, it's a car you see everyday because so many people own it & that's irritating at any price point. Though both cars are beautiful designs, the Jag to me is just drop dead gorgeous & far more exclusive. Think about this; After spending about $100k for either car, then seeing both cars in a parking lot at the same time, which one do you think gets the most attention? Which one will get the better parking spot from the valet? Which one just seems more special? Also, unless you're going to track either car, you'll never be able to approach their limits on public streets. And I can assure you both cars are amazing to drive fast with little difference on the street. So interestingly enough, I was in the market for a new sports car & looked at both the zo6 & the Jag. Taking into consideration all aspects of the aforementioned, guess which one I bought? Yup, F-Type R.
Both are great cars and good value, but I would rather have the Jag, hands down.
I recently purchased the 2019 Grand Sport and I also created a TH-cam channel to share my experiences. I believe that the GS is the BEST car you can get at the price point and the cost of ownership is lower than the Jag

Yeah the Jag is better in terms of looks and sound and interior, but the Vette is a ton of performance for the money.
I'd go for the vette because of the cost difference and the price of maintaining the vehicle, jags are expensive on the maintenance compared to the vette... i mean, cmon it's a fucking chevy....
If you want bang for your buck and lap times, then hands down the Corvette is for you. If you want something that's not incredibly generic and will make you laugh like a lunatic, then buy the F-Type. For me, I would hands down have the Jag. The C7 Corvette is a truly amazing car and an amazing value for money, and probably the best car the US has ever made, but it's just not an F-Type.
It is amusing to me that at the 3:10 mark the f-type clearly shows a check engine light on.
In the US the Jag just feels far more exotic. Honestly, I see Vets every day, not to mention, Mustangs and the other Chevy car. The F Type is not everywhere, therefore the perception is its just a tad bit more special.
These great cars both have their proper niche all over the globe and are well-recieved as well. Each has their area of finesse and aptitude.....

I'm a former Corvette tech. I bought an F-Type V8 S and I like it more than any Corvette Ive ever driven
I love the stingray. I like the hard agreesive styling, some people prefer a more eligant style like the jags. & for all the people talking about the stingray .. if GM wanted to make a car the price of the jag they could have, they could have went all out in the interior and used the best materials for the body and frame. But they were not making a car for only the rich it's more reachable for ordinary people that can't afford cars like the jag. .. but it can go toe to toe with it any day.
And let the Atlantic fights begin. I think in their price range both are at the top of their respective class, but I also don't think a presumable Jag buyer will go over to Corvette or vice versa. They are simply in different classes and that is not meant as a bad thing. They just are.
just for reference that 550 hp jaguar he is talking about starts at a little more than $105,000, the corvette Z06 starts at $80,000 and has 650 hp and still weighs less than a jaguar by almost 400 pounds, don't get me wrong the jaguar is a beautiful car, but its price to performance doesn't really compete with the corvette, either way they're both great car.
But if you add in the factor that one is made by unskilled Mexican families and held together with spit then 80,000 gees sounds like your being robbed!!!

Which would you choose?
The F-type is quite easily one of the most beautiful sports cars on the road today, and it is one hell of a performer. That said it is also WAY more expensive than a Corvette, and the new vette is a monster of a performer. The combination of value and performance, IMHO put the vette in another level relative to the Jag, making it my choice between the two.
If price wasnt a concern I would definitely take that f type but it's only like a 20k difference but at the end of the day it's still 20k.

Drove an F-type R. Felt numb and dead and my 6'3 self could barely fit into it. Drove a few 911 S's. Great fun, but the only ones close to my price range of around 60k were 15-20 years old and or had at least 100k miles on it. So I got a '16 vette z51 7MT with 19k miles on it for literally half the price of the only real competitor.
I'd take the Vette with a manual transmission and use the money i saved (from not buying a Jag) to go on a nice vacation ;)
Or get another car so that the vette doesn't have to be your daily driver. Personally I'd get something with 4wd cuz I live in new England and when it snows here, you're gonna need it!
Corvette costs as much as the Jag here in Europe. (Both cost around 80k in dollars)

LegendInThaMakin I bought an automatic Z06 and do not regret it. Was debating all the way to the dealership. The Jaguar is beautiful and sounds great, but I can afford a 650hp vs the newer 575hp and beat the Jaguar in a race. Both are great cars, but $80k for this kind of performance and greatly improved looks: Corvette.
I've been inside both cars at a car show (no driving unfortunately). The jag has its flare and its a sexy car. Imo the vette is a very close substitute to it with a similar cool interior. I would take either one but because of the value and the magnetic ride I would take the vette. It's the best value for any sports car in my opinion. Hard decision.......
The corvette is not bad, but soon there will be a corvette in every traffic light. Just like the Hondas... So, I will choose the the Jag type F just because you don't see those pretty often and it does sounds amazing!!!

I bought a Jaguar F-type and loved it so much 2 years later I bought an F-type R.
I think the "fun" factor should have gone to the corvette. Like the guy said, it has a manual transmission. That in itself makes it superior to the Jag.

For me, based on your 5 categories: Corvette 5 points. Jaguar 0 points.
Corvette all day, night, and twice on weekends! While they both have massive garage-appeal, Corvette is America's trump card to all things Supercar!
between the 2, id take the corvette all day long, not just because its from my country, but because it actually is better than the jaguar looking at all the facts between the 2 cars. its got a v8 engine with 460 horsepower, a very nice suspension setup, and its even got enough trunk space to get the weekly groceries for the family. and it also has a great 30 mpg on the highway. that's why the corvette is superior over the jaguar f-type

Jag V8 has 550 HP. Change out the lower pully on the supercharger and do a tune and it has 675 HP. They are fast, tranny shifts quicker and throttle response is incredible. It also gets about the same MPG. The Vette has less maintenance though.
So the 2 things the Jag won was "fancy bits glued to the interior" and "louder exhaust"? Right! Got it. Notice they didn't even talk about reliability, cost of ownership or resale value? Dollar for dollar, NOTHING can compete with the Corvette! There are many reasons it has been around for 70 years.
And Jaguar has been around for?? Do some research and stop embarrassing yourself. Oh and the F type will outrun just about any corvette, and is much better built, and, and, and.

The Corvette by 4 to 1, noise just don't count, the Jaguar interior was more.....eye catching, but it doesn't like tall people, since form follows function, the Vette pretty much beat the Jag 4.5 to .5 . Sorry to our friends across the pond, your F-type Jaguar is nice, but nice guys finish last. I pick the Corvette.
As a current Jag owner ofcourse I would say the Jag but not for value, I mean really why would I buy a car for this price for value, what I do like is the fact that I don't see one everywhere like bloody IPhone or Ford. But even I must admit the Corvette is one good looking automobile and sexy as hell.
I choose both but if I could only have one car I think the Vette would be much more livable as a daily driver

Having owned both cars, a Stingray coupe and a V6 F-Type coupe, this is my perspective: The Vette was faster and had a more raw driving experience. Aftermarket support on the Corvette is plentiful, and maintenance is cheaper as well. The Jag however, is a nicer place to be in, and definitely feels more special. I can go to a car meet and easily see half a dozen C7's, but I'm usually the only F-Type present. The price difference on the used market is currently in favor of the F-Type as well, as the insane markups on the C8 have inflated pricing on the previous generation. They're both amazing cars, but definitely take a different approach to how they do things.
"Corvette are everywhere!" US owners only. In all other part of the world, its the other way around. Both are rare but I see 5 F-Type before I see 1 Vette, here in EU. The C7 is way more exotic/exclusive there...

actually, I own an f-type 400 sport. Just it's awesome.
As a previous owner of a 99 C5 and current owner of a 2015 (2WD) F-Type S, I'd say performance is mostly down to the driver. For the money, the Corvette was way cheaper of course; but you can always drive the F-Type as a luxury car in a way the Corvette can't match.
The "nuisance rating" of the Jaguar is much, much higher. You can drive a C5 around town and not get noticed, unless you want to be. That is certainly not true with the Jaguar, it's more of an event than the C5.
The Jaguar F-Type S is more of a handful on standard tires and track mode, where my C5 had 295's on the rear and was very predictable. 3 Jaguar dealers in Arizona and, um, far more than 3 Chevrolet dealers in Arizona. I would have to guess that most servicing issues cost more for the Jaguar (replacing fuel injectors was painful money).
So...................I will pick the Jaguar, 8 times out of 10. Because I enjoy driving the Jaguar more.
P.S. I LOVED the HUD on the C5. I want it again.

I choose Corvette and no, F-Type doesn't sounds as good as the Vette IMO.
I'll go with the Jag as it's far prettier, has an aluminium body and not a hint of plastic as in the Vette. Yes the Vette is awesome but and I do love them but I'd never have one over an F TYPE, for kerbside presence, the Jag has it by the bucket load and looks like a mini Aston Martin. To step out of the Jag at a posh restaurant with my gorgeous lady would fit the bill in all areas, whereas the Vette seems far too posy and brash to pull up at that visit to a Stately home.
For me the Jag just has more class and looks to die for. 😆
WOW the body roll and brake dive of the corvette is crazy! But when you lose in ultimate body control, it makes up for a supple ride!

I would have believed it 20 years ago, but here it goes: The vette is probably the more reasonable choice, it's a better car . But I'd take the Jag, because it's just such a nice thing. It makes you feel more special.
it doesnt bother me that many people have them maybe there is a reason for that mine has a factory performance exhaust with a z51 suspension and a cold air intake on a 400 mile trip averaged 70 mph i got 28 mpg in touring mode im very happy with the car but i also agree the jag is a beautiful car as well

Just did some fun on the way to and yes I let it lead for 2 maybe 3 seconds and let off at half pedal not posting the standard SS and think I could take it.
Corvette is my choice, and has been for the last 60 years.

No comparison it's a JAGUAR it has a badge that is a symbol of status, it is stunning looking car, build quality is far superior the C7 Stingray. The Chevy is a very nice sports car but I would take the JAG in a heartbeat.. this video is a bias review.. I'm American and believe no country builds better cars than the British few examples are the JAGUAR, ASTON MARTIN, TVR, MCLAREN, ROLLS ROYCE, NOBLE and LOTUS also alot of high end German cars utilize british parts.. Germans build very good cars they just don't have as many timeless designs like the British. Also over 75% of racing technology is British and they hold the land speed record..

Love both cars but why compare the base model corvette to the mid level Jag? Should’ve been V6 vs stingray or Z06 vs V8 or the ZR1 vs (highest level jag)
Vette is far more common, but much cheaper to repair. The Jag is also has AWD which is great for stability. The Vet can have a targa roof and more room in the back. The Vet feels every bump in the road. The Jag is far more comfortable. There is no way the Vet won both comfort and performance points, sorry.

The Corvette is the better car in just about every way. When it comes down to looks it's a matter of opinion. I think the Jag benefits from name recognition. All Jags are high end cars whereas Chevy also once made the Aveo. Too bad popular opinion is going to be against the Vette because it is the better car.

I sold my corvette C4 That i had owned for 18 years so i could buy an f type. I don't like the C7's styling.. The f type R is beautiful, and it sounds fantastic! In my opinion, better than the LT1 and im much more comfortable in the Jag than either my old C4 or the new C7 yes i drove one, Fantastic Car! However the Jag is soooooo pretty and it sounds like a hot rod when you want and burbles for the valet when you need. Jag has also remembered their heritage there are large hints of of the E-Type in her. Inside the Jag smells like English leather and suede not plastic, grease, glue, and epoxy. Also, I think the Jag is altogether more affluent than the Corvette.. If the C7 Looked More Like the c2.. I'd be a fan instead of just a fan of it's technical merit and performance! As hard as it is to say, for this die hard flag waving American, I'll Take the F-type R.

Really? You're gonna compare the supercharged V8 Jag to the non-supercharged Vette? The supercharged Z06 Vette is available too you know. Regular C7 is still the better choice than the Jag, even though I love the Jag.
Jaguar F-Type: One of the few cars that can teach any Vette a thing or two about being sexy. Inside, outside, and the sounds it makes. The car the Vette is trying to be. But you have to pay to play. Sex appeal goes to the Jag
Vette: Performance leader, and a much better value. Great fuel economy, technology, and MR suspension provides sedan like ride. Costs $30k less?
Smart shoppers in premium sports cars go to the Vette.

Two comments: why not race them on a video. Also, the jaguar is priced around the Z06. Price wise a better comparison. Plus, we already know the results: Z 06!
Here in the philippines corvette is more expensive corvette here is $189k usd(9.9million php)

This is kind of an apples to oranges as the Jaguar F-type is really a GT and the Corvette is a sports car. Shock that the F-type wins on interior (though I would expect it to be a bit more comfortable) and the Corvette wins at the sports car stuff. This is less of which car is better and more of would you rather have a GT or a sports car? and the reason both exist is because you have people who like GT and people who like sportscars.
Now you are going to have your biased people, those who will avoid anything American and those who would avoid anything that isn't American. I think both people are silly and honestly would be happy with either of these cars in my garage. However for anyone who is on a budget of lets say $75,000 you would have to really love the F-type or being super bias to not buy the Corvette. For $65,000 you get a 340BHP F-type coupe and for $69,000 you get an F-type convertible. That is 0 options at that price point and 340BHP (380BHP engine is at least $77,000). Pricing a C7 on the Chevy site you can get a 3LT Z51 with mag shocks, performance exhaust, visible carbon fiber roof with painted sides, comp seats, carbon fiber interior trim pieces, suede wrapped upper interior, and come in at $75,000. It is also important to note that the C7 can remove its roof while the F-type coupe can not.
On the other hand if you had about $110,000 to spend and wanted a really fast GT then you would be dumb to not spend the money on the F-type R coupe. That car is cool, sexy, and insane 3 things that everyone should like, though things might look a bit different once the Z06 is on market.
Corvette maybe cheaper (not over here it isn’t) but the jag is better in every way.
I would choose the Jag.... no the vet.... The JAG..... maybe the VET..... THE JAG VET!?!?!?! Forget it, I'll take the Mercedes E63 AMG instead!

That's the F-Type R the FLAGSHIP F-Type and that's the BASE corvette....The Flagship Corvette will be the Z06.,with 650hp and 650lb/ft and 600lb or 300kg LIGHTER than the Jag at the same price as the Jag.That's the one I would get....No matter how good the F-Type looks.It would become a HOUSECAT next to the Z06

The Vette is far superior but I still like the jag. If we wanted a performance comparison there should have been a Porsche in here.
I would choose the Corvette but I agree the Jag is a beautiful car. But the Corvette doesen't take a back seat to any car in terms of looks.
