This is essentially 2 large solid granny squares that are sewn together. There is a button in the middle on both sides that you sew together to make the middle collapse down and attach through the pillow.

I love this easy pattern!
I make loads of them for friends and my pets at home.
Here are my varations...
- I do not use pet yarn.
- I use a half double crochet stitch instead of a double crochet if I am using a thinner yarn.
- When joining the two squares together I double crochet the first center round again over the top and through all layers attaching everything together. (Sometimes I will do this in a different color which gives the added appearance of a button.) Also attaching the center helping in keeping the pillows shape when washing.
- The last thing I do to complete this project is to submerge the entire finished pillow in a warm water bath with my favorite pet (flea & tick) oatmeal shampoo. I squeeze out the excess water bath but I do not rinse the bath out! When dirty, I throw these pet beds in the wash machine and repeat the bath process every time for a fresh smelling, treated pet bed.

This just sparked an idea for using up the leftover bernat baby blanket yarn I have. My dog loves to snuggle with blankets in his kennel, and he's not at all picky about the colors, so I could definitely do some stash busting.

Thank you for this video! I have been wanting to make some large cushions for my kids to lounge on. They don't like sitting on the couch and are constantly takking the cushions off of the couch to sit on the floor.

Make sure you use a pillow cover if you use foam pillows so that your pet doesn’t get chunks of it out to chew on. That could be very harmful to him/her.

Odor isn't the problem for me. It's fur shedding and nails being caught ... even on basic cloth. I can't make anything for my cats. Makes me sad too. ah well.
