One of their best! all three are lead singers! Nice reaction, so much fun being a teen and growing up with this! Our little radio rocked constantly. Easy to be Hard!
Eli's Coming, One, Just an Old-Fashioned Love Song, Joy to the World, Never Been to Spain, Shambala, Black and White, Mama Told Me Not to Come, ... so many awesome hits from this band. Yes, technically a "cover band" but they were SO DAMNED GOOD.
I had the pleasure of seeing them in the mid 80s at a small county fair. They absolutely blew that place apart. The best six dollars I ever spent. Good times and great memories..!
There's an even better live performance, a few years later in 1975, that features an extended intro to show off all the voices. Can't go wrong with Three Dog Night!
This is my favorite version of Eli's Coming: th-cam.com/video/0CuNBengxaQ/w-d-xo.html And Old Fashioned Love Song: th-cam.com/video/AM7zb5FMmLM/w-d-xo.html
That’s exactly what I was going to type! I don’t even want to watch this one that’s how much better I like the 1975 one. I love their goofiness too on stage, just amusing themselves while showing off their amazing vocals.
Oh wow, sheer joy/bliss watching Emma rocking out and having so much fun, it doesn't get any better than that; Mixed in with a few technical pearls of wisdom woven in; And Emma just looks so stunningly/outstandingly beautiful all the time; What's not too like. And it is just a pure joy to see Emma so relaxed and happy. 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🥰😍🥰💝🤟👏👍🎶🎵🎶🎙🎧💎🍁💐💐🦅.
Three Dog Night was one of the most popular groups of the late '60's into 70's. Extreme vocals and harmonies and lots of great tunes to enjoy: One, Celebrate, Joy to the World, Mama told me not to come, Old Fashion Love Song, Never been to Spain, Out in the Country, and a few more.
They absolutely were my favorite group back in the 70's and still are!! This song is a classic along with so many of Three Dog Night songs! Cory Wells has such a soulful fabulous voice! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Just caught this spectacular review and legendary performance by one of the greatest groups from the magical sixties! Loved your review and your genuine enjoyment! You are a beautiful singing princess! 🎶💕
Their catalog is vast with many top chart hits. "Try a Little Tenderness", "Old Fashion Love Song", "Liar" and Pieces of April" are just a few that will highlight the magnificent vocals of this band who out sold the Beatles at one point in their career. Hello from western WA, USA
Group has a deep book…worth a look. Shambala, Joy to the World, One, Black and White, Try a Little Tenderness… can’t go wrong. Great react; thank you!!
Me again, sorry. Just needed to respond to your comment about wanting to see them live. Unfortunately only Danny Hutton, one on the right, is still touring with the group. But please watch all of their videos from the 70's. I saw them a couple of times during that period with all three members, GREAT!!! Wish you could have experienced them. On a side note, they sold more records than the Beatles for a short time (approx. 1969-1972). Keep up the hot reviews Emma....❤❤
They had so many hits and they were so popular. They're a band that is very talented but also easy to like, which is why they were popular I think. But, I would love to suggest one of their huge hits, to also give you even more insight into their singing and arranging, and this will really get into your head, it's that good: "One Is The Loneliest Number"
Now you've gone and done it, Emma. They've got a deep catalog of songs they covered. From about 1969 to 1975, you couldn't turn on the radio and not hear a Three Dog Night song. I speak from personal experience.
Saw them in about 1970, at the top of their game. Seen many a band but 3DN is absolutely one of th best acts I've ever seen. The band is excellent.. and the singing, Well! Thanks!
These guys had many hits back in the day. Another great one was "Momma Told Me Not To Come". Liked your reaction. Still waiting patiently for more Lara.
A Laura Nyro song, wonderful singer/songwriter I the sixties who was taken from us by cancer at a young age…. Surrey down to a stone should picnic another great song popularized by the Fifth Dimension. Back in the late sixties, she was considered along with Joni Mitchell at the pinnacle
I'm glad you did this. Three Dog Night had 21 top 40 hits in a row and 11 top 10's. They were all cover songs. Great reaction I knew you would like this when you got to it. Try their songs - An Old Fashion Love Song or Mama Told Me Not To Come.
This style of music reminds me of some of the numbers in musicals like Jesus Christ superstar😊 Great harmonies, and technique with the microphone with the way they move away then nearer to it👍. Great reaction😊
Happy to see your back with music reactions.😊 3 great vocalists in one band. This is the studio recording with them lipsyncing. You can tell because the accompanying vocalists aren't singing in their microphones. My faves are Out In The Country and Family Of Man. Easy to Be Jard is a must!
Hey Emma, Three Dog Night!! Mama Told Me Not to Come, An Old Fashioned Love Song, Joy to the World, never Been to Spain, Shambala (my favourite)and many many more!!!
This song was written by one of the best, unknown composers of the early 1970s who died young, LAURA NYRO (Who also wrote hits for The 5th Dimension, Blood Sweat and Tears, and Peter, Paul, and Mary. I loved her "Stoned Soul Picnic" by the Fifth Dimension. You will, too.
I'm with you, absolutely love Laura Nyro but wouldn't quite call her "unknown." Millions were aware of her during her hey-day, especially through the famous covers like this one. It's true she didn't attain thei level of fame as many of her contemporaries but that is partly due her reluctance to perform live. She was not comfortable with it. I like to think of her as "under-appreciated." Amazing talent and I love her versions best of all!
Emma, very important info!!: I scrolled through most of the comments, and am, as usual, shocked to see that maybe only one other person even mentioned the original singer & composer of this song, Laura Nyro. 3 Dog Night is a great band and this is a very good version, but since you are a singer, you are truly missing out on not hearing her original (studio) version. I have seen this version reacted to many many times, and yet most people do not acknowledge Laura. Maybe she wasn't so mainstream , but she was still pretty well known & admired. End of rant!
They were my first concert in 1970. A show to remember. Try a little tenserness, Pieces of April and Liar would be great songs to react to. I loved your energy on this great song.
Three Dog Night even outsold the Beatles for a short time. Great catalog of hits. One, Joy to the World, Shambala, Pieces of April, so many. Enjoying your channel and exploring great music from last central.
Hello, Emma. You looked ready to jump in and join in the hippy vibrations the music was sending your way. Good for you. JOY TO THE WORLD IS the song I dedicate to you from Three Dog Night. Because that is what you are. Then, listen to NEVER BEEN TO SPAIN, ONE, BLACK AND WHITE, and EASY TO BE HARD. Keep going and enjoy the music.
Three lead singers, with very different voices and lots of harmonization. Always go for a live performance if one is available, so you can see who is singing what parts. They are as good live as in the studio, sometimes even better.
Oh no sweety, there is not a genre for them. All their songs are different from each other. They are in the Vocal Hall of Fame! Amazing! Go down the rabbit hole. You will not be disappointed!
You are fun to watch. I keep hearing you refer to the "last century" and I guess I've been in denial, cuz that was My Century. Born in 1955. This was my music. The first song I heard by Three Dog Night was "One". I loved it. Still do. They have tons of great tunes, but Joy To The World comes to mind as a great song with some fun to it. Never Been To Spain is another. So there, I just gave you three more from Three Dog....

I saw Three Dog Night perform this song at the very first concert that I ever attended. It was in September 1969 and I had just started college. Their performance was recorded for a live album entitled, "Three Dog Night Captured Live At the Forum." I still have the album. The other bands that night were The Grass Roots and Steppenwolf. And my ticket cost me $ 2.50. Ah! The good old days.
My favorite band in the 70's TDN, I seen the original band several times live and they put on a great shows. The three lead singers sang great harmonies. My favorite songs are Mama told me not to come, Easy to be hard, Try a little tenderness and Liar. Emma I think you will really like the band.
My first concert in 1968 or 69. Got all their autographs too! Fantastic show. 3 Dog Night didn't write their own songs. They would take either songs that failed to chart or songs from lesser known writers and turn them into hits. The band came together in a very different manner too. They actually found and hired the 3 lead singers first and then decided finding musicians to play as guests was a pain so they searched for band members. It all came together very well.
This is such an amazing band. A year or so after this, they were actually more popular than The Beatles. And this isn't even their best song, IMHO. "Liar", "Old fashioned love song", "Out in the country".... all classics. Not to mention their most popular, "Joy to the world". For fun, check out "it's for you". I don't know why every re-action video for this song is the 1969 version which is lip sync to the record...the LIVE 1975 performance blows this one away. The singers show off how great their vocals really are.
Grew up with them in Southern California. This video has the album track over the performance. As others said, a nice live performance is on TH-cam with a longer introduction.
This is a fantastic band, I hope you'll listen to more from them. There's also an older song called "Try a Little Tenderness". Excellent melodies. I'd be happy for you to try another one!
when I was a kid(in the 60's) Three Dog Night was on the radio all the time

The sound of my youth! Such great music!
Three Dog Night will never disappoint. Fantastic vocals, terrific music.
Saw these guys in the early 1970s, from front row seats in Fort Worth. Wonderful harmonies! And, Emma, you are a doll!

Shambala is my favorite.
Several of those were written by Hoyt Axton.
I'd like to see anyone try and "cover" them! Huh huh.
