And songs like this are why those of us who grew up in the '60s & '70s absolutely barf at the so-called "music" of the past 30 years. Mostly NO TALENT NOISE & TRASH, Autotune, and yet they THINK they can choose presidents for us!

  • @glassontherocks

You missed out. The long intro extended version 1975 made this performance look cheap. Eli's still coming check it out.

They find each other because everything was pure talent back then. There was no technology, so it was only gifted musicians on albums.

Looking back, we were so lucky to be listening to the radio back then. But we really didn't know, it was just good song after good song.....

I saw them live along with the Grass Roots. Both bands were great. Now, I feel that I was so spoiled with all the great music there was when I was young.😊

One of the greatest groups ever. Cory Welles(flowered shirt), Chuck Negron and Danny Hutton. Danny did a great job on lead with Black & White. Cory did a phenomenal job covering Otis Reddings Try a Little Tenderness. Chuck with Joy to the World, Easy to be Hard and others. Danny did a few. Them CCR. Credence and The Rascals are my favorite groups ever I'm listening to music over 60 years. Keep up the good work!

they all had leads but I think they also had fun as in this video where they are obviously mouthing to the recording and not even leaning into the mikes at times. I loved how they played off each other more than the BeeGees who started off with all 3 leading songs but melted into Barry taking the load later on.

Because you HAD to have talent to get contracts from the industry. Thats why 60's 70's 80's talent was awesome. No computers to make them sound good.

I was 21. Seven rows from the stage.
They left the stage without doing Celebrate. (You really need to hear that!
They came back on stage, house lights went up, people were standing in the arms of the seats!! It was amazing!
Never forget it. Oh, I'm 73, so yeah it was in their heyday.

    Just now watching this
This was written by Laura Nyro, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
She also wrote Stoney End, which was a hit for Barbara Streisand and Stoned Soul Picnic, a hit for the 5th Dimension
    Check those out👍🏼

Their "actual" live stuff (not lip synced which they kind of made fun of here) is pure magic. Whatever they did in the studio was so much better live, if you can even believe it. It's out there...find this in a truly live performance and it will blow you away. Thanks for your props to this amazing group!

I was 14 or 15 when I saw them live and got all their autographs! Always a great show! Cory Wells, the middle singer does the lead on "Try A Little Tenderness" of Otis Redding fame that is a must see too! Between 3 Dog Night and Joe Cocker, they ruled doing covers!

Danny, the guy in white, formed the band. Chuck and Cory were so good that he ended up not having as many lead vocals. Danny sings lead on Black and White, which is a good song. Chuck left the band because he was a drug addict. Cory died a few years ago. Danny continued the band with Cory and him sharing the vocals. I'm not sure what they are doing now. The drummer Floyd Sneed recently died. Overall, they had three great singers and a tight band doing good songs with great arrangements and had multiple hits. Probably one of the top bands during the seventies.

In 1967, Hutton (stripped pants, he's the only original singer left in the group)conceived the idea of a three-vocalist group, and he and Wells (Paisley shirt he passed away) enlisted mutual friend Negron (dark shirt left officially 1985). They took their name from an Australian expression describing low nocturnal temperatures in the outback (the colder the night, the more dogs needed to keep warm while sleeping). They took turns taking lead depending on the song. I saw 3 Dog Night a few months ago. Check out Try A Little Tenderness early version

Look below Wolf HunterZ. This is powerful stuff and my favorite Three Dog Night song. They weren't good they were great. I was a teenager when they were in their prime, Corey, born in Buffalo, N.Y., passed away a few year's ago. They can sing so well because of the era they lived in. No dubbing or multiple takes. Real live musicians. Buy their Greatest Hits album. Twenty one songs-19 of them Top 10 hits! All three sang lead at some time for Eli's Coming. In those days they were called "garage bands."
