Donne biriyani is a local Karnataka style of Biriyani and not from Maharashtra and is cooked in the naati style in Kannada or village style of cooking where all the masalas and spices used are grounded and not grinded to retain the taste and properties of the spices. The owner of shivaji hotel is a local settled in Bangalore from many generations but is a maratha. It is a blend of regional and maratha style of Biriyani you can say. Another famous local biriyani has to be the local Muslim style biriyani or the dakhni biriyani that you would get at the Taj restaurant in shivaji nagar. Bangalore has to be the only city in India where you would get all types of Biriyani from all the southern states including the rest of the country
Donne biryani name comes from the Donne which literally translates to "dron" which is a leaf bowl (not specifically banana leaf). Shivaji military style biryani was a biryani style cooking developed by shivaji's (king) army while on their expeditions.
@@CsfxPy It's actualluy jonne biryani later become donne don't know correct reason.Shivaji setup only hotels like structure for their army didn't invent sny biryani

Calling donne biryani as Maharashtrian biryani and calling Nagarjuna's Andra biryani as Hyderabadi Biryani 😒 and its sad to see that people are still not educated that Meghana's is not Biryani, that is not how biryani is cooked, its some flavoured rice with chicken/mutton gravy. Being a Hyderabadi settled in Bangalore (and a biryani lover), i am totally offended. God save the world and the internet 😂 (I have 8 more mins to watch!)
Guys, just because the name of the hotel is Shivaji, the biryani is not Maharashtrian. You won’t get this kind of biryani in Maharashtra. This is Kannada, Naati style biryani. Perhaps you can give accurate information. 🤦🏻
Head to Shivaji Military Hotel established in early 1930 is known for its authentic Donne Biryani. It will ride you through the legacy of authentic Maratha cuisine. Donne Biryani's origin dates back to the 17th century when Maratha soldiers craved meat food, Donne biryani lends its name from the areca nut palm cups that it's served in. Cooked with short-grain seeraga samba rice, a generous quantity of mint leaves, and a unique technique of marinating the meat with curd and spices, Donne biryani will leave you craving for once more. It is green in colour and traditionally served with boiled egg, raita, and brinjal curry.
Shivaji military hotel uses bullet rice variety for biriyani and Nagarjuna uses basmati or long grain rice for biriyani... Both definitely have different vibes.. But please do a video of 'dose' of Bangalore if you guys are still here ... Thank you for coming to Bangalore..
Shadi ki Biryani and Hotel Chicha Ba Taj's Biryani are the best Biryani in Bangalore..... You try the end number of Biryani across Bangalore but these are the best 👍.........
11:29 A lot biryani connoisseurs say that Meghna's special chicken biryan is not "actual biryani". Its more like fried rice with chicken gravy on top. I am not very particular about the terminology. My taste buds control me. If someone calls a veg biryani = pulao, but it tastes amazing, i ll not complain even one bit. Same is for Meghna Foods for me. i am aware that this is perhaps not the tastiest or the most authentic biryani in Bengaluru, but its my favourite because I like the taste. This is my every Sunday's fix lol. What you get at Nagarjuna fits much more into the cooking style of a traditional "biryani". aka chicken par cooked, rice parboiled, and then finish cooking together..which is how a lot of biryani's are made. While in meghnas, rice is cooked completely, gravvy/chicken is cooked completely and just mixed later. So yes, different styles.
@@snehajha7373 I am not really sure. All i know is that they cook it separately from rice. The exact procedure i m not sure. However from the texture it does feel like the chicken is fried/roasted before mixing with the gravy.

The taste of Bangalore biryani is quite consistent across different places. In Andhra Pradesh and other states, biryani has varying regional tastes, and it's interesting to explore the differences. The quality of biryani is excellent in these regions. However, in Bangalore, even though I currently live here, I have noticed little variation. The same spices seem to be used everywhere, giving it a consistent taste.
@@naveensk8561 May be. Obviously it's no where close to barawachi or arsalan(they are special Biryanis). But they have a unique product with a very good price point. Their taste and quality is consistent. In my experience anyone who dosn't mind south Indian Kadi pata taste loved Meghna biryani
These kind meat and rice is given in lowercaste functions and temple festivals served in leaf cups for easy disposal of plates. Its only recently come to Karnataka from Tamilnadu and called Biryani.
Donne is just the woven bowl its served in, not the prep method. What you get at Nagarjuna is not "authentic" hyderabadi birayni. It is Andhra style biryani. Same at Meghana. What you had is called fry piece biryani. It's actually pulao/bagara rice with chicken curry on top.
Bangalore's Authentic Biryani goes past 100 years, it has already given rise to various versions which has evolved over a period of time, but still we can savour the authentic 'Taj Biryani' or 'Shadi ki Biryani' which made only on firewood that too some particular kind of wood is used to cook and copper vessels which is a norm, so i think you should find some good Authentic 'Shaadi ki Biryani' in Bangalore to savour our real culture.
Yeah that's for sure, khaana khaane se jyaada time table milne se lag jatha hai, but all that effort disappears when u start eating biryani at shivaji military hotel, its truly 10/10❤❤❤❤

If you are still in Bangalore try a small hotel in BTM Layout. It’s called Godavari hotel, an Andhra style hotel. But their boneless chicken special biriyani is yum and the taste is almost similar to Hyderabad style biriyani.
Love the enthusiasm for Andhra food in Bangalore! But if you think it's great here, wait till you try it in Andhra Pradesh itself-where the flavors are even more authentic and the spice hits differently! 🔥🍛

Kanishk doesn't eat non veg bro
Don't be secular
Donne is just the woven bowl its served in, not the prep method. What you get at Nagarjuna is not "authentic" hyderabadi birayni. It is Andhra style biryani. Same at Meghana. What you had is called fry piece biryani. It's actually pulao/bagara rice with chicken curry on top.
Try DADA BOUDI BIRIYANI in Barrackpur (KOLKATA), West Bengal.
U guys are OG.......love your videos
Yeah that's for sure, khaana khaane se jyaada time table milne se lag jatha hai, but all that effort disappears when u start eating biryani at shivaji military hotel, its truly 10/10❤❤❤❤
These are the kind of videos i used to watch ok tested for.....i do not enjoy the new things they keep trying roasts, lengthy overloud discussions.....so i am really glad watched this thoroughly and enjoyed.
I have been skipping all the other videos from this channel mostly these days
I am from KOLKATA stay in Bengaluru but I love Ambur Biriyani i think you should have try Ambur too..
i don't prefer Hyderabadi biriyani in Bengaluru, my favourite Biriyani Hyderabadi biriyani in Hyderabad, but in Bengaluru Ambur is my fav.
Rank 1.HYDRABADI BIRIYANI 2. KOLKATA BIRIYANI 3. AMBUR BIRIYANI.
Banana leaf / BaLe ele is common in our side. Especially for weddings or any funtions, pooje , we serve food in bale ele 💙
If you are still in Bangalore try a small hotel in BTM Layout. It’s called Godavari hotel, an Andhra style hotel. But their boneless chicken special biriyani is yum and the taste is almost similar to Hyderabad style biriyani.
Aau odisha kebe asucha??
you should have tried rahamaans (richees) biryani. one of the best muglai biryani i have ever tasted. This is in frazer town.
Glad you tried biriyani in three best places in Bangalore, however one more you need to add to ur list next time is Mallika Donne Mutton Biriyani😊😊
it feels like nostalgic, please back with the old food challenge videos with kanishka and kaustubh also
Meghna we eat 1 year ago still the taste in our mind
Love the enthusiasm for Andhra food in Bangalore! But if you think it's great here, wait till you try it in Andhra Pradesh itself-where the flavors are even more authentic and the spice hits differently! 🔥🍛
Actually , Bangalore is famous for its veg break fast joints like CTR , MTR , Veena stores , vidyarthi Bhavan , Brahmin coffee bar .. please make a video covering all famous places
Clicking on the like button hoping you guys will cover Odisha one day.
1. Hyderabad biriyani house(green board)
2. Biriyani zone.
3. Hyderabad chefs.
These 3 are one of the best and authentic Hyderabadi biriyani in Bengaluru. Sadly you guys haven't shown even one of them.
We are still waiting for Odisha food tour🥲
And we’re asked to continue waiting 😅
Yeh huyi nah baaat❤❤❤
Love from west bengal bro
Please try biryani 'NATI BIRYANI' at Nandhana Palace, which are made only on Wednesday, Friday & Sunday only.
Nice video....loved watching both of you...
You should also eat with raita for meghna Biriyani along with salna .. heavenly taste
Good to see Akshay bhai back ... ❤❤❤
Suchitra biriyani, biriyani zone, star ambur.. try them tooo
Off the track recommendation but the flavours are top notch and you won’t regret it.Mandi Biryani Karama restaurant, Frazer town. It’s mild on spices yet so flavour full that it’s gonna stay with you for a while😊
Meghana Biryani is not layered. Rice and chicken are prepared seperately. Layering is only possible in dum Biryani.
You should also have tried the non-veg thalis at Nagaurjuna or Bheemas; they're fantastic. The chili chicken at Nagaurjuna is also incredibly good.
Please come to himachal and try the og phadi food like butter tea , lapsi, babru, lungdu, dham, Siddhu, patrodu
Fyi fun part is best Maharashtrian style biryani you get it Bengluru
Best curry (Sambhar ) was first prepared for Maratha empire prince Sambhaji raje and is from Tamilnadu
And best rice dish in north Rajma chawal that rajma was given by Rajmata Jijabai to the farmers to cultivate which is called Wagha ghevda in Maharashtra which got famous in Punjab and named after Rajmata Jijau RAJMA..( it is said that it was gifted to Rajmata by mexican visitors…
Interesting fact starting from Grandmother Jijau , son of jijabai Shivaji maharaj and (grand son)Sambhaji maharaj has not only given Swaraj but food that is famous for centuries
Always ask for extra masala when you’re at Meghna’s, elevates the taste to a whole new level
