    This is actually a solution that applies to me. External BD-ROM drives are too expensive, but I miss watching my movie collection at my desk. 🤔

      Well, that already makes it worth it then. I'm glad to be of service. Have a great weekend, Nathan.

      This is good advice, after I've already gotten an external DVD drive and Bluray, as my wife's new laptop doesn't have one and newer cases don't seem to have space for them.
      But I did get both for about 110 dollars and I used the 'free' rewards my bank builds up for spending money I would spend anyway.

    Love the intro! Deep thought...
    Darn! I spent $2000 US on a new gaming laptop and never checked to see if it had a DVD drive! Darn memory lately! 🤣
    Now what do I do? Well, I subscribe to SUCRA, so...
    Also, get well Bruno!

      Howdy, Mike! Thanks you for your suppport, buddy. Good luck with your driveless computer haha it's a problem we all are having lately. Oh, I'm doing well, out of the woods for sure.

    First of all, glad to hear you're doing alright buddy! Keep on resting up and I hope you feel better! This video was super interesting and I really enjoyed your take on a way to fix the lack of optical drives on most modern things. You're so right about proper external drives being overpriced; it's a shame, too, as they're much more useful than not. I love this idea--what a clever workaround! Get well man, and thanks again for all of the hard work!

      Hey man, I can't thank you enough for always being supportive and going along with the rides, through good or bad concepts. Thank you for sitting through another one with enthusiasm even for such a simple concept for you and so many others. I just hope it was at the least a bit entertaining and I'll be happy with that. Thanks, Will. Have a great weekend!

      @@SUCRA Always, man! It's my pleasure, and that's what friends are for! This was definitely something I would not have thought of and that's precisely why I enjoyed it! I learned something new and, as a guy who reads optical media a lot, I may give this a go soon! It was super entertaining! Rest up, and I hope you have a great weekend too, Bruno!

    Actually, in my modern setup, I still has dvd drive (lightscribe), because I used old PC case

    • @SUCRA
      @SUCRA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a bad idea. I might do that for my next build, or just stick to the external drive.

    I have an old USB LG DVD, it's basically indestructible xD! On the other hand, a USB Floppy is a must for our Retro PC hobby!!

      @SUCRA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right, those are nice. I actually don't need one because the lab PC has a floppy drive. At the moment I upgrade that though, becomes an issue.

    Very nice video. I have been using external DVD writer when my laptop DVD writer died, however I replaced the laptop DVD drive later.

    I have old external DVD on USB but I have almost any PC DVD drive. Only my main PC don't have DVD drive but that's no problem for me there. I also can share DVD at network from another PC.

    • @SUCRA
      @SUCRA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I considered swapping my case for one with a drive bay, but that would've been such a big hassle lol.

    I had a hell of a time trying to get my laptop to even recognize my external drive. no matter what i did, I never was able to get it to read it. the drive works, I tested it with other systems over USB, but for whatever reason, the optical drive would not show up in the laptop. which really sucked because at the time my laptop was serving as a desk top replacement. my curent PC has an optical drive, so I am not worried about it...but I really wish i could have figured out why in the world windows jut refused to see the drive. I tried everything.

      Hey Ozz, how're you doing? Hey, that can happen if your drive is not getting enough power. Some of these devices come with only one USB and draw all the power from that, but they are usually unstable. Not sure if that was the case. I'm glad you're over this issue.
