Man this was a great analysis. Well done. The Smite scene has long lacked technical heavy analysts in my opinion so I think this is outstanding really. Not everyone will agree metrics used for any study, but as a player I think you did a nice job explaining as much of the nuance of comparing grey concepts like builds and assigning TTK numbers. Great video, only thing I could recommend is that i wish you gave examples of other gods for the other two starter items around the 1:14 mark like how you did for the arrow starter but other than that this was an awesome vid keep it up! Best optimized build for all starters in the game for all the other roles would be amazing as well! For tanks you could do like survivability while still doing maximum amount of dmg
Great video, bro! Taking into consideration the current meta which is early game snowball I think the better build should have a balance of price and consistency. Your death's temper>lifesteal>exe>boomerang>qins>DB seems like the best one since all items are fairly cheap until you reach DB and temper is a bit more consistent than arrow imo. The best attribute of arrow is the 75% AS and I'm surprised there was no build combining arrow, crit and silverbranch. Most hunter's get a good AS with the build I mentioned so I think that one should be the best in this current meta.

I’m not sure how the flat penetration (autumn) on cern 1 would affect the builds, this is because penetration gets better the more you have, so the damage progression wouldn’t be linear when comparing builds with different levels of penetration, meaning I can’t get results for this without running a specific simulation just for cern. But I would guess it wouldn’t make much difference to the builds, but I’m not 100% on that. The extra damage on cern 1 (summer) scales off of his power, so it might be the case that his builds would be slightly better with higher power builds, but I doubt it, I can’t confirm for certain but I’m pretty sure you’d build cern in a similar way. Thanks for the questions! The stats for the attacker is just a standard hunter with no uniquness (no stim or weird auto attacks) Guardians: 3700 health, 300prots + spectral Warriors: 3200 health, 200prots + spectral Squishes: base hunter stats
Nice video, you can see builds pros like inbowned use and some of these builds, if you get used to it (know your damage, power spike and what gods it fits best) you can use it on ranked and choose the one giving you what you need. But I think you should take other things in consideration, leather cowl was on the meta because hunters wanted high life steal, so they built it with other life steal item. Death's embrace goes well on chary and apolo and xbal stacks well rage, but both have mana problems on early. Midguardian mail could also be taken in consideration if it dont make all the math a problem
Hello! Thanks for the comment! I think what you’re getting at is that Cowl was being used with another lifesteal item? If that is the case I have displayed all of the top builds with Cowls that have one other lifesteal item. I agree knowing gods and match ups should also be considered when building, that might be a bit out of the scope of this video, but I am going to do god specific videos in the future, and I have already done one for Charybdis. Midguardian will definitely be interesting, thanks for the suggestion!
Realistically speaking your first crit item should be no later than 3rd (assuming your first item is the one after your starter), especially if it’s Rage.
Hi, in the video the builds have no order, I haven’t even attempted to try to do any math to order the builds yet, maybe I will at some point, but there are lots of variables to be considered like number of stacks etc. for now I’d just do what feels right, like lifesteal -> attack speed -> pen -> crit or whatever order feels best, sorry I can’t be of more help
Great video, really gets you thinking. It would be awesome if you could do a complimentary video with different stages of attack speed buffs. Since the builds are different when you take a starter with higher AS vs lower AS. And since you get AS from abilities, purple camp/totem, shogun's, etc. that should change the equation a lot. Just a rough idea of what items might be most useful if you get a lot of inherent AS would be awesome. PS. Also manikin's for degenerates like myself. Also subscribed :)
Hi, thank you! 🙏 Yeah attack speed can fluctuate throughout a game, I have already done attack speed stim hunters at 60% AS if you want to check that video out! (Sorry it’s an earlier lower quality video). Considering other attack speed buffs would be interesting, like +30% from shoguns or purple buff or Fafnir, but relying on attackspeed from external factors is a little risky! But it would be cool to see those builds. I imagine devs would become the best lifesteal item and that’d pretty much be the only difference in the builds, but you never know! I’ll definitely be doing manakins! Thanks for the comment!
Stormseeker's on a few of these, is this assuming max or a certain amount of stacks on Stormseeker? Because if the enemy sees you're building Stormseeker, they can just choose to play defensively and deny your stacks. In a game where enemies know how to counter you, it's going to be completely useless.
Hello! Yes stormseeker was modelled at 250 stacks, I could have excluded the builds with stormseeker but there are plenty of other builds to chose from if you don’t like the item (I personally don’t). I wanted to leave it in to give people options. Thanks for the comment!

On the unstacked starter item best builds, are you calculating with storm breaker fully stacked? It hurts to see that horrible item in a best build. I can't bring myself to buy it. But mainly I wasn't expecting to see it.

Stormseeker has 250 stacks in the model, I wanted to give people options on what they could chose when building, I personally agree and I wouldn’t build the item, but when it has 250stacks it does turn up in some builds. But personally again I’d rather take a build with temper, diamond arrow or ornate arrow and risk it being slightly less dps when the starter is not stacked. Thanks for the comment!
Love the content, you should look into manikins as well I’ve been loving that with devs exe wins obow and titans the yellow damage synergy is insane (obow scales off manikins bap)

Hello! Thank you for the comment! I think the reason silver branch appears over dominance is because of Qinns. If you noticed, executioner and Qinns appears in every single one of these builds, which shows just how much damage Qinns must be doing to tanks. Because of this, I think silverbranch is preferred over Dom because 1.) It has more attack speed (which scales better with Qinns) and 2.) it has 10% penetration, which adds to Qinns damage, unlike Dominances penetration. I also want to highlight that both tanks have spectral in the model, which might influence Dom coming up in the builds because the crits are doing less damage to the tanks because they have spectral.
@@SmiteMaths would the passive of dominance(20%pen aa) not be more impactful than SBs 10? number don’t lie, not arguing just genuinely interested. the crit numbers are cool to me hitting almost 270% is a neat mechanic. as a thought for your next video, a full squishy comp(prob a lot of extra work) would be interesting to see. a lot of players in my ranked games seem to struggle determining when and why to build items(i’m those players)
@@SurrealKillcamit’s because the penetration bonus from dominance won’t effect the bonus damage from qins. The bonus is only on the AA not for any of the proc items.

I'm sorry but I'm not convinced with stormbringer in one of the sets of hunter build. The item is pretty bad in general. I also don't agree with boomerang either because theoretically it's an amazing crit item, but in practice its a piece of shit, which probably should be taken into consideration when pumping out numbers. It would also be nice to see the difference in TTK for squishy targets as well. Usually you kill tanks from a safe enough distance, but what really kills is a combination with an assassin or another dps. If you have to kill an assassin before they kill you, what is the TTK? That being said, for me its deaths temper for an aggressive hunter or ornate + devoted DB for a better lategame teamfight hunter, but I'd be open to entertain diamond arrow (not boomerang though - you're backpedalling a lot and dodging abilities, so I don't like it over demon blade)

This does make it a viable option in some builds, but there is the risk of not getting the stacks and suffering in the early game, but I thought it only fair to model it and keep it in the video so that people can make their own decisions. Equally, bladed boomerang has been modelled at one stack (out of 3), again I only thought it fair to put it in the video and not exclude it entirely. I have displayed many options so everyone can make up their own minds about if an item is valuable or not. I agree with you on the points you’re making, a model like the one I’ve made can never be perfect because there are far too many variables to consider, which is why inconsistent items like bladed boomerang have been modelled more towards the lower end of their damage potential, I think this kind of makes up for the fact that the items are inconsistent but could have even higher damage potential than whats been modelled. But again, there are plenty of builds displayed so people can make their own minds up. I really appreciate comments like this, people’s opinions should definitely hold some weight when deciding what to build. I do have all of the data for DPS against each enemy type for every build, but to keep video length shorter I decided not to show it here, I’ll try and display the data next time as long as it’s practical for video length and the points I’m trying to make. Hopefully this video has still given you some insights into what to build and why! Thanks for the comment again!

manikins are kinda counterproductive, since they deal more damage the longer you attack someone, so the faster you kill the less damage manikins deal, and you want to kill fast usually

The reason Manakins isn’t in this video is because it is not a traditional starter item, it also doesn’t provide mana sustain in lane which can cause issues, I think it deserves a video of its own and I’ll get around to this when I can, I’m also very interested to see how it compares to other starter items!
@@Gongall manikins upgrade shreds tanks and objectives late game and lets u secure neutrals early to snowball. If u dont know how to manage ur mana and ur bad then yeah i guess its not for u. but to say manikins isnt a hunter starter if not one of the better ones says a lot about what rank u ppl are

You should do hybrid builds for tanks, highest dps that have max dmg mitigation

For theses builds that has storm arrow do you have it fully stacked or a certain percentage due to how unrealistic it is to get 999 stacks

No manakin? Feels so consistent and can match crit.
If you watch my Heim video it’s mentioned in that :) but overall it’s not the best DPS, other starter items give you much better damage on average

The reason Manakins isn’t in this video is because it is not a traditional starter item, it also doesn’t provide mana sustain in lane which can cause issues, I think it deserves a video of its own and I’ll get around to this when I can, I’m also very interested to see how it compares to other starter items!
@@Gongall manikins upgrade shreds tanks and objectives late game and lets u secure neutrals early to snowball. If u dont know how to manage ur mana and ur bad then yeah i guess its not for u. but to say manikins isnt a hunter starter if not one of the better ones says a lot about what rank u ppl are
