Interesting teaching. I came from psychology background before exploring spirituality, so I always thought of "ego" as people used the term as if they were referring to ego defense really, and not "ego" in the classic Freudian sense. In psychopathology we learned about the personality disorders as being exaggerated ego defenses (in theory). In counseling psychology we learned about Carl Rogers and his idea of "unconditional positive regard" being the fundamental therapeutic tool of the therapist. So it's interesting to see these concepts come through a spiritual paradigm. It has been the bridging between psychology and spirituality that has brought me the most insight in working with people. The bridging between physiology and spirituality has brought me even more insight into myself. This is where the understanding of "energy" adds something dynamic to the experience of working with people. Thank you for sharing, Matt. To be a teacher one must be very brave.

A big thank you from my heart to yours. What you teach resonates with me so much. Almost every time I listen to you a sadness comes over me. Now I can see how I have developed a Spiritual Ego. I can say that I probably misunderstood the Spiritual teacher that I followed for 7 years. It is all purposeful and I am so happy to have been guided to your teachings by a beautiful soul. I love how you say to refer to ourselves and other's like a five year old. I look forward to learning lots more. I am so excited to be part of the "Love Revolution"!!!

In my experience I have observed all of these traits in myself over the span of my life. Don't get me started when it comes to others. It's refreshing, to say the least, when self forgiveness is the antidote for perpetuating modes of Being Human that can't help me evolve as Divine Love.

It is a huge release to understand your ego as your personality's allergic reaction to consciousness of the people around you, whom you actually love and have come to heal. Interesting perspective on this very miss-understood subject that creates a great deal of tension for many under the concept of "That which you resist persists"... I have likened the Ego to a faithful dog or personal companion which we or the I aspect of We which is a very unique expression of all there is in many facets refracting light. The issues arise when we compare or measure ourselves to others in judgement of good or bad or better than where the Ego is then pitted against another, rather than simply honoring and appreciating different expressions of the One that we all are... We are transforming Duality & Separation into Unity Consciousness here and Now...

This has helped me sooo so much, I recently read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and he seemed to put the ego as any thought or opinion you had, basically making it to where thinking is ego and not thinking wasn't. Basically he said there's no need to do anything, which is kind of saying, you could just sit there on a park bench and not move and be ok with it. I can see that as a good thing, but I think sitting on a park bench for the rest of your life may seem kind of pointless, I think the journey of life is too experience it fully, do as much as you can, within your own limits and wants, and to live fully. I liked this because instead of saying ego is having a personality it clarifies that basically not having a ego is kind of a common sense. I've never been religious but it just didn't make sense that a lot of religious people were very very judgemental, instead of being understanding that people can have different opinions they were offended by what I did or had to say. When I tried doing the whole religion thing I kind of just felt like on top of other people judging me there was an invisible man judging me as well, aka God. When I finally let go my life cleared up so much, I let go of what other people thought of me, and I started doing my own thing, living up to my own standards, which is what this life is really about. Fully expressing your personality and not being ashamed of it. Having wants and needs isn't your ego, it's your own personal standards, having a personality isn't having ego.

Matt, I am so touched by all that you have shared. I have been able to experience and put into practice so much of what you have taught. I am stumped with giving compliments especially to people that are in a different space than I am. I freeze. I don't stay in the loving space that I am usually in. I resonate with the realm of Goodness. I feel it, I experience it, I feel the softness of it. Thank you, Nancyangel

I have deep versions of ALL of these inflammations . This is first time I have been able to address it. Bang! * Awesome. So deeply love in me. One thing I can address in me though.. Is.. the ''needy'' quality, I didn't feel everyone who came my way wasn't fully present. And also.. I am almost certain we can all agree most people are NOT fully present. It's just also, i am definitely aware that in the only deep long term romantic connection I had, which obviously was with an abusive partner... She was extremely not present and absent emotionally, which makes sense only to that... she was reflection my needs. So now through this video I can see that... Yes, I attracted her and of course she WAS a trigger for it, but it helped me lash out in frustration, which right now I can see back to that amplified expression, and refer an address of definite neediness and lack of openess to attracting those ready to connect.. if I couldn't access those traumatic memories of feeling so lonely when being with the one person who's definitely supposed to love you most, your partner... if I didn't see that extreme painful response that came from me those days, now I would not recognize how bad my ego was hurt.

Thank U so much Matt Khan. Your talks are so amazing ! This talk has helped me so much today in my relation. Finally I am grasping what happens when I`m responding as an allergic to unconsciousness, when I`m helping to resolve the unconsciousness in others. In a relation we often seem to be driven apart by what I recognize now as an inflamation of the personality, called ego. It does help to get to know one another on a deep level, recognizing & solving the areas where this inflamation most easily occurs.
I gratefully subscribed to your emailnewsletter today. Namaste

Hi Lance - I'm in a similar place myself. This is what I am now telling myself... We don't need to rush it..... stay with my highest intention, love myself (even if you don't really feel it - just say it) and make the phrase - ALL IS WELL (which I just learned from Matt) at the top of our most familiar phrases - subconscious will eventually "get it" and bring it to you. All is well! Susan

9:50 "We come in this world to play the game of ascension, to re-experience your previous awakening in a broader way in order to participate to the general awakening. Then we are conditioned by our families into a level of consciousness that is contrary to our natural state of being as the souls we were before reincarnated and the development of ego or the inflammation of the personality is our life-long allergy to the consciousness of the planet we came here to transform. We want to go home because we came here to shift this vibration for all beings, to play our individual journey on a bigger level but we spend most of our lives literally being allergic to the planet we came in to heal. Allergic to the family we'd like to love but we're so reactive... And when it comes to self-doubt and self-hatred, it's actually because we're allergic to our conditioning and we turn out to ourselves. So ego is the personality that gets inflamed and you're having an energetic allergic reaction to life. That's why we wanna go home. (...) So if we learn from a very heart-centred perspective: 'Oh, ego is an enflamed personality caused by an over-stimulated nervous system, which is a life-long allergy to the unconsciousness we came here to shift' we've make sense."

Thank you, Matt. I love your teachings and again, I love you too!
I live half way across the country and watch every youtube video you post. You are inspiring!
Can I ask of you to touch on mental health? I grew up with it in my family and I personally have learned how to have an intimate relationship with others who suffer from it; however, most people don't have the same comprehension and also there are a lot of people who need guidance with this process.
For example...have you ever met a compassionate parent who had a child with down syndrome? For the most part, the ones that I've met are very caring and learn a lot from their child.
For me, the key term that I've phrased for others is acceptance. Not understanding, not rationalizing...just accept. Because we don't want to dehumanize someone with a silent disease. (dis-ease)
I was watching this video and had an urge to request this of you.
Acceptance is also key for elderly people who suffer with dimensia. I've had the wonderful experience to learn how to deal with elderly people who suffer from memory loss. They are just as fascinating as any other person, and then some because of all the story they have to share.
Lastly, and I can make this quick, speaking of irrationality, when in an abusive relationship people tend to try to rationalize with the abuser who is completely irrational (whether drugs, alcohol or mental health disorder is the reason). They also rationalize the behavior. This is a big mistake. This mistake is one that I have yet to learn from.

  • @DivinityinLove
    @DivinityinLove 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

And when the ego does get more and more pumped... with fear etc, it's still trying to protect the inner child, but what happens...is ''disorders'' such as Narcissistic personality disorder or symptons of this as part of Borderline personality disorder manifest.. all mental illness and emotional instability is due to imbalance obviously internally, but... any illness that causes one to victimize others for power trips, like NPD is due to a repression of emotion. This stuff gets shown to me like a movie since I awakened :) mental health is my speciality. I struggled alot with Ego stuff, it was my greatest challenge and Gift. I felt so judged about being egotistical, I learned to love above all judgement... Ego :)

i need to disagree with Mr. Kahn. the EGO is the drive to survive, not a negative function....it is each persons responsibility to mature n control the ego... dont suppress ur ego, LOVE IT! suppress ur selfishness ur blaming ur shaming. there is no one more 'egotisitical' than a child or toddler who is hungry for food or love. that is their will to survive until they learn to share n empathize with other egos. when you give up ur ego-self, u give up the will to BE YOURSELF. when u give that up thats when you truly become a victim.

I don't think it's possible for anyone at any point of their own healing to be a source of healing for someone else who is suffering. If you try to discipline yourself into being a source of healing to someone else when the time isn't right, it can actually make you worse. There is a missing link here.
Sometimes you can be a source of healing to certain people, and other times you need to detach from certain people in order to be able to heal yourself. Try to ignore that order and you will end up making yourself worse. That's why boundaries *are* actually important. I heard Matt say that people should leave abusive relationship, but on the other hand there is all of this. I would like to learn what is the principle that bridges the gap.

loved that, thanks........sometimes righteousness indignation and anger is healthy and natural. say, like how we may feel when it turns out people have been bsing us in government, or legal matters, or if someone hurts kids. sometimes we may need to act on that righteous anger and kick a little ass. metaphorically speaking! peace.

At the beginning... What he mentioned... i've done the spiritual removal thing/withdrawn... to avoid overwhelming emotion and pain I didn't know how to deal with, everytime I saw someone arguing... I wanted to help them.. and cry.. lol... so yeah, I completely held onto the higher perspective of ''Well, they're souls are choosing this'' ... and avoided all emotion.. to the point like... when a car crashed, or once a car bumped and crashed a little into the back of the bus i was on recently, and someone said ''... you're not even reacting'' lol.. I'm not sure if it's because I see life like a movie... or whatever, but actually.. yeah i'm still like this lol. I didn't even feel anything for the car crashing... obviously i jumped but i had no emotional response. Although... I don't feel there's any emotion around it to be felt. Where as if I see people arguing.. I do still feel incredible emotion... because I am feeling what they are feeling I suppose and then my sadness to their pain.

Over stimulated nervous system.... Nice. To me, Ego is inner child... is working for me right now, also from Matt Khan's ''Emotional oneness'' ... Ego, to me.. is one with all of us... just a reflection, one aspect... from the R complex, reptilian brain. All I know is, I never have a problem with anyone's ''Ego'' it's there for their survival, the only time I feel upset, is when my own is triggered... which I address with inner child attention. Babysitting ^_^ myself :D yay haha... but when i am not triggered, I don't even notice ''Ego'' in another person... I just see their inner child having fun with me. So Ego could also be described from my experience and view as the inner warrior/protector of the Ego, and when one does not know how to love their own pain and heal it.. the Ego pushes the trigger away. That's all. :)
